  • In this paper, the crack properties of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) structures for environment by experimental and analytical methods are discussed. The major role played by the steel fiber occurs in the post-cracking zone, in which the fibers bridge across the cracked matrix. Because of its improved ability to break crack, SFRC has better crack properties than that of reinforced concrete (RC). Crack properties are influenced by longitudinal reinforcement ratio, volume and type of steel fiber, strength of concrete.

  • This study was carried out ont the longterm aged reinforced concrete housings for the prediction of life expectancy and the suggestion of fundamental informations on the durable concrete. In this paper, the durability of concrete is compared with carbonation depth, and the measutrments fo carbonation depth and properties have been made on the number of cores taken from structures. And finally, the relationships between carbonation rate and such properties as strength, absorption ratio, density were examined.

  • Durable softening water-repellenting agent such as PODCW, PDDCW and PEDCW were prepared by blending cationized compound such as poly(octadecyl methacrylate-co-2-diethylaminoethyl methacrylate)[PODC], poly(2-dodecyl methacrylate-co-2-diethyl-aminoethyl methacrylate)[PDDC] and poly(2-ethylhexyl methacrylate-co-2-diethyl-aminoethyl methacrylate)[PEDC], and cationized compound of fatty carbamide, of which synthetic methods were reported in the previous paper, waxes, and emulsifiers. The results of physical tests of the P/C blended fabrics treated with PODCW, PDDCW and PEDCW with and without textile finishing resin, showed a remarkable improvement of the physical properties. The prepared water-repellenting agents, PODCW-6 and PDDCW-1, were treated on P/C blended fabrics with and without resin. For any cases, there are a little changes between initial water repellency and repellency after 3 times washing of the fabrics. Therefore, the water-repellenting agents proved to be a durable agents, and initial water $100^{+}$ and $90^{+}$ point, respectively.

  • To prepare a durable softening water repellent, quaternized octadecyl methacrylate-2-diethyl-aminoethyl methacrylate as a mother resin and quaternized 1, 3-dioctadecyl-2, 7-dioxy-6, 8-di(2-hydroxyethyl)-1, 3, 6, 8-tetraazacyclodecane which increase the softening effect and the hydrostatic pressure blended with waxes and their emulsifier in various proportions to give water repellent PADWC. As the results of the measurement of water repellency, washable, tear strength and crease recovery to polyestercotton(P/C) blended fabrics treated with PADWC only or addition of textile finishing resin, the physical properties were increased. There was no significant lowering effect in water repellency when PADWC was treated the antistatic agent by the one-bath method, and the effect of water repellency by the adding the catalyst was studied. PADWC was confirmed as durable water repellent with the results of making little difference of water repellency as ${\pm}5$ point after and before washing.

  • The flame-retardant (FR) treatments of wool fibers using Hexafluorozirconate/titanate salts and tetrabromophthalic anhydride can cause skin irritation and gas toxicity due to Zr and Br compounds respectively. A water-soluble polyfunctional cyclophosphazene derivative, synthesized through substitution reaction of Hexachloro cyclophosphazene and N-[3-(Dimethylamino)propyl] metacrylamide, was applied as a durable flame-retardant for wool fabrics. Also, a crosslinked structure was introduced to improve washing durability of the FR-wool, up to 10 laundering cycles, using Acrylamide(AAm) and Triacryloylhexahydrotriazine (TAHT) as a comonomer and a crosslinker respectively. The mole ratios of the TAHT and AAm concentrations compared to the Dichloro tetrakis{N-[3-(Dimethylamino)propyl]methacrylamido} cyclcophosphazene (DCTDCP) were optimized to 1.33 and 7.5 respectively. In addition, the pyrolysis and combustion properties of the FR wool were assessed using LOI, TGA and microcalorimetry suggesting a solid-phase FR mechanism.

  • The main purpose of this study was to propose the development direction and application method of wood as a landscape material by analysis and investigation of the present condition and characteristics of wood, which is a quite interesting natural material for its beauty as an exterior material. This study is based on the relationships between the establishment of development direction and practical use of exterior wood as a landscape material. The research method used was fieldwork and data analysis. On the analysis of the present condition of wood utilization, it was investigated to need of complement of a design aspect, use method, the limit of use type, and use range. The direction of a durable design for the practical use of exterior wood as landscape materials was established. On the use of exterior wood, first, the characteristics of wood have to be understood. Then exterior wood can be used while preserving its safety and beauty over a long time by physical and chemical treatment. At the same time, an application plan for the practical and effective use of wood as an outdoor landscape material, we concluded that future research in design aspects is needed in consideration of physical, chemical, and structural properties of durable wood materials used in outdoor facilities.

  • Softners-BHICS, BBICS, and BTICS were prepared from 1, 2-disubstituted imidazoline compounds, such as 1-behenoylaminoethyl-1-glycidyl-2-heneicosylimidazolinium chloride(BHIC), 1-behenoylbis(aminoethyl)-1-glycidyl-2-heneicosylimidazolinium chloride (BBIC), and 1-behenoyltris(aminoethyl)-1-glycidyl-2-heneicosylimidazolinium chloride(BTIC), and treated to acrylic fiber. The measurements of softness, lubricating and antistatic properties showed that they have not only good softness and lubricating property but also a little antistatic property. Furthermore, the initial bending resistance for BBICS and BTICS was 5 grade, and remained 3~4 grade after 5 times washing. As results of these tests, they showed good softner effects having durability. The prepared softners were proved to be durable softner through a series of experimental results for washable properties of feeling by varying treating temperature and pH change.

  • In this studs, we synthesized durable antistatic agents with acrylic monomers for preventing the electrification of static electricity which is one of defects of polyester fabrics. Also we synthesized quaternary ammonium salts which give antistatic property and crosslinking agents which make antistatic agents adhere to fiber. The treatment of synthesized antistatic agents on polyester fabric carried out at the condition of various concentrations, treatment times and temperatures. The antistatic property, handle characteristics and other properties of treated and untreated polyester fabrics were also investigated.
