Characteristics of Chloride Penetration due to Sprinkle of the Deicing Salt on the Concrete Pavement (제설제 살포에 따른 콘크리트 포장의 염화물 침투특성)

  • Deicing salt has been generally used for traffic safety in winter, and the amount is increasing every year. However, deicing salt may induce the decrease of bond strength, surface scaling, and environmental pollution, etc. the purpose of this paper is to suggest the fundamental data on safety and durability for concrete structures through the estimation of chloride concentration profile and chloride diffusion coefficient. According to the test results, the critical chloride concentration($0.9\~1.2kg/m^3$)was measured at depth $23\~30mm$, and the limit chloride concentration($0.3kg/m^3$)was reached to depth 40mm. Also the surface chloride amount indicates 3.45kg per concrete unit weight, and the results showed the possibility of corrosion by deicing salt penetration.

  • As form a part of way to improve the durability of concrete placed on deleterious environments such as acidic rivers, sewage wastewater, and sewer system, the paper presented here is the results of experimental immersion test, and for the test solution, 4 types sulfuric acid solution was prepared. From the result of EDS analysis of cement paste at 180 days of immersion, the detected major chemical elements were Ca and S and they are assumed as composing elements of gypsum. A comparative study between prediction models from the Japanese Standard and the present study corresponding to $d=C\sqrt{t}$ and $d=\alpha{\cdot}t^n$ respectively accorded well with each other, as being 0.98 of determination coefficient.

  • Bogie frame of the electric car is an important structural member for the support of vehicle loading. In general, more than 25 years' durability is necessary. Much study has been carried out for the prediction of the structural integrity of the bogie frame in experimental and theoretical domains. One of the useful methods is reliability-based approach. The objective of this paper is to estimate the structural integrity of the bogie frame of an electric car, which is under the running test. We used two approachs. In the first approach probabilistic distribution of S-N curve is used. In the second approach, limit state function is used.

  • Crankshaft, the core element of the engine of a vehicle, transforms the translational motion generated by combustion to rotational motion. Its failure will cause serious damage to the engine so its reliability verification must be performed. In this study, the S-N data of the bending and torsion fatigue limits of a crankshaft are derived. To evaluate the reliability of the crankshaft, reliability verification and analysis are performed. For the purpose of further evaluation, the bending and torsion tests of the original crankshaft are carried out, and failure mode analysis is made. The appropriate number of samples, the applied load, and the test time are computed. On the basis of the test results, Weibull analysis for the shape and scale parameters of the crankshaft is estimated. Likewise, the $B_{10}$ life under 50% of the confidence level and the MTTF are exactly calculated, and the groundwork for improving the reliability of the crankshaft is laid.

  • Railroad track consists of relatively simple structures such as rail, sleeper, ballast. Roadbed shares vertical pressure by train load which passed through rail to ballast as base that supports the track. For evaluating stress and displacement of roadbed due to the railroad load is an important role on the track as a basic data for estimation of the durability and design of the roadbed thickness. GEOTRACK program applied multi-layered theory was developed for analyzing railroad track structure. GEOTRACK program is a sort of numerical analysis program which has advantage that can analysis component of track by simple method. In this study, this program was used to preform the numerical analysis by changing track conditions and roadbed conditions such as tie, reinforced roadbed, dynamic wheel load, Resilient modulus and so on.   • The riding comfort and the durability of train are effected by the rail irregularities such as track gauge, superelevation, alignment, longitudinal level, twist, cant and cross level. Inspection and estimation of irregularities are very important to maintain the rail condition. Generally, the EM120 has been utilized to measure the rail irregularities once a month in Korea. However, the EM120 can be operated at night time only, because the inspection speed of EM120 is much slower than the speed of high-speed trains. Also, the EM120 is too slow to inspect effectively for the whole commercial line. Therefore, we have mounted the track inspection system on the High-Speed Rolling Stock 350 eXperimental (HSR350X) and measured the rail irregularities to confirm the condition of a rail while running 300km/h. In this paper, the track inspection system mounted on HSR350X is mainly considered, and the measured results through test run are introduced.

  • Quality control of ready-mixed concrete is most important in the production step because, the performance of hardened concrete is revealed due to ready-mixed concrete. Hardened concrete has several properties physically. Above all things compressive strength of concrete has a greate effect in the design of structures, analysis, and durability. Compressive strength is simple predicted by w/c up to date, but there are some limits because different compressive strengths can be revealed in the same w/c. Therefore this study contributes to the quality control of ready-mixed concrete through statistical analysis for the relation between mix factors in mix design and compressive strength, predictable equation for compressive strength.

  • The production of waste concrete is increased continuously by urban renewal, reconstruction, remodeling, and so on. So the positive use of recycled aggregate concrete is needed. Research for recycled aggregate concrete that use recycled aggregate from the mid-80s to solve environmental problem of aggregate insufficiency and waste concrete is consisting vigorously. However, specifications and mix design about waste concrete's use are evading use of recycled aggregate concrete yet in spot being not taken a triangular position. Therefore. it analyze existing research data for recycled aggregate concrete collection to develop strength estimate program in this research. Recycled aggregate concrete's strength estimate program if specifications and mix design about recycled aggregate concrete are taken a triangular position to foundation recycled aggregate concrete's practical use to increase judge.

  • Electromigration is a one of a critical failure mechanism in microelectronic devices. Minimizing the thin film interconnections in microelectronic devices make high current densities at electrrical line. Under high current densities, an electromigration becomes critical problems in a microelectronic device. This phenomena under DC conditions was investigated with high temperature. The current density of 1.5MA/cm2 was stressed in interconnections under DC condition, and temperature condition $150^{\circ}C,\;175^{\circ}C,\;200^{\circ}C$. By increasing of thin film interconections, microelectronic devices durability is decreased and it gets more restriction by temperature. Electromigration makes electronic open by void induced, and hillock induced makes electronic short state.
