  • In this paper, the design and the fabrication of dual bandpass filter using heterogeneous resonators is presented. Each resonator would not have an effect on each resonant frequency. Two types of resonators are designed to have different fundamental resonant frequencies, one for the lower passband and the other for the upper passband. In the lower band, half and quarter wavelength resonators were used. In the upper band, a dual-mode resonator was used for adjusting bandwidth. In the upper pass band frequency, resonators of lower passband acts as the input and output. For WLAN, Proposed filters with different second passband frequencies at 2.45/5.2 GHz and 2.45/5.8 GHz are designed and fabricated.

  • A dynamic D-flipflop is proposed aiming at low power and high frequency(GHz) operations. The proposed D-flipflop uses a smaller number of pmos transistors that it operates high speed in same dimensions. Also, it consumes lower power than conventional approaches by a shared nmos with clock input. In order to compare the performance of the proposed D-flipflop, we perform simulation estimating power consumption and maximum operating frequency of each same dimension D-flipflop. A high speed dual-modulus prescaler employing the proposed D-flipflop. A high speed dual-modulus prescaler employing the proposed D-flipflop. A high speed dual-modulus prescaler employing the proposed D-flipflop is evaluated via the same method. The simulation results show that the proposed D-fliplflop has good performance than conventional circuits.

  • In this paper, a power loss analysis technique of a high-frequency transformer of a bidirectional DAB (Dual Active Bridge) converter is reported. To miniaturize the transformer of the dual active bridge converter, a resonant inductor was designed with an air gap included low-coupled rate state core to combine leakage inductor with the resonant inductor which is required for soft-switching. In this paper, leakage inductance and magnetizing inductance, core material, type of winding and winding method are included in the dual active bridge transformer loss analysis process to enable optimal design at the initial design stage. Transformer loss analysis for dual active bridge with a switching frequency of 200 kHz and maximum output of 5 kW was executed, and elements necessary for design based on the number of turns on the primary side were graphed while maintaining the transformer turns ratio and window area. In particular, it was possible to determine the optimal number of turns and thickness of the transformer, and ultimately, the total loss of the transformer could be estimated.

  • In dual-channel networks (DCNs), all frequency hopping (FH) sequences used for data channels are chosen from the original FH sequence used for the control channel by shifting different initial phases. As the number of data channels increases, the hitting frequency point problem becomes considerably serious because DCNs is non-orthogonal synchronization network and FH sequences are non-orthogonal. The increasing severity of the hitting frequency point problem consequently reduces the resource utilization efficiency. To solve this problem, we propose a novel hitting frequency point collision avoidance method, which consists of a sequence-selection strategy called sliding correlation (SC) and a collision avoidance strategy called keeping silent on hitting frequency point (KSHF). SC is used to find the optimal phase-shifted FH sequence with the minimum number of hitting frequency points for a new data channel. The hitting frequency points and their locations in this optimal sequence are also derived for KSHF according to SC strategy. In KSHF, the transceivers transmit or receive symbol information not on the hitting frequency point, but on the next frequency point during the next FH period. Analytical and simulation results demonstrate that unlike the traditional method, the proposed method can effectively reduce the number of hitting frequency points and improve the efficiency of the code resource utilization.

  • In this paper, high efficient power amplifier with dual band has been realized. Dual band power amplifier have used modify stub matching for single FET, center frequency 2.14GHz and 5.2GHz respectively. The dual-band operation of the CRLH TL is achieved by the frequency offset and the nonlinear phase slope of the CRLH TL for the matching network of the power amplifier. Because the control of the all harmonic components is very difficult m dual-band, we have managed only the second- and third-harmonics to obtain the high efficiency with the CRLH TL in dual-band. Dual-band characteristics in the output has to balance. Two operating frequencies are chosen at 2.14 GHz and 5.2 GHz in this work. The measured results show that the output power of 28.56 dBm and 29 dBm was obtained at 2.14 GHz and 5.2 GHz, respectively. At this point, we have obtained the power-added efficiency (PAE) of 65.824 % and 69.86 % at two operation frequencies, respectively.

  • A dual-band through-the-wall imaging radar receiver for a frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar system was designed and fabricated. The operating frequency bands of the receiver are S-band (2-4 GHz) and X-band (8-12 GHz). If the target is behind a wall, wall-reflected waves are rejected by a reconfigurable $G_m-C$ high-pass filter. The filter is designed using a high-order admittance synthesis method, and consists of transconductor circuits and capacitors. The cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned by changing the reference current. The receiver system is fabricated on a printed circuit board using commercial devices. Measurements show 44.3 dB gain and 3.7 dB noise figure for the S-band input, and 58 dB gain and 3.02 dB noise figure for the X-band input. The cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned from 0.7 MHz to 2.4 MHz.

  • A low-power low-cost polar transmitter for EDGE is designed in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS. A differential delta-sigma modulator (DSM) tunes a three-terminal voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) to perform RF phase modulation, where the VCO tuning curve is digitally pre-compensated for high linearity and the carrier frequency is calibrated by a dual-mode low-power frequency-locked loop (FLL). A digital intermediate-frequency (IF) pulse-width5 modulator (PWM) drives a complementary power-switch followed by an LC filter to achieve envelope modulation with high efficiency. The proposed transmitter with 9mW power dissipation relaxes the time alignment between the phase and envelope modulations, and achieves an error vector magnitude (EVM) of 4% and phase noise of -123dBc/Hz at 400kHz offset frequency.

  • We present the results of the first simultaneous dual-frequency VLBI observation with KVN (Korean VLBI Network). The KVN has a unique multi-frequency receiving system performing simultaneous observations at four frequencies, such as 22, 43, 86, and 129 GHz, in order to calibrate the atmospheric phase fluctuations, which cause a severe degradation of an interferometric coherence in mm-VLBI regime. In order to test the multi-frequency phase referencing capability of KVN, we observe the bright continuum VLBI source, NRAO 150 at two different frequencies of 21.7 (K band) and 43.4 (Q band) GHz simultaneously. The VLBI fringe phases at K and Q bands show a tight correlation of phase behaviors and the results of phase referencing (residual phase, coherence etc) are promising for achieving excellent phase referencing observations with KVN. The KVN will be able to open new perspectives in the multi-frequency study of VLBI.

  • The dielectric properties and various pattern-forming states of dual-frequency material in a nematic phase, as well as its mixture containing low concentrations of reactive monomers, are reported. The dielectric relaxation behaviors of nematic MLC 2048 are presented and compared to its mixture containing both mesogenic and nonmesogenic reactive monomers. The sign-inversion frequency of the dielectric anisotropy was significantly shifted on the addition of small amounts of the reactive monomers. However, all three mixtures used in this study essentially exhibited the same field-induced instabilities at different frequencies and voltage domains of the applied electric field. A broad band of modulated states were found to exist above a critical voltage and within a voltage dependent frequency band in the vicinity of the sign-inversion frequency, $f_I$, of the dielectric anisotropy. As the $f_I$ of the mixtures shifted, so did the bands of the modulated state of the different mixtures and the temperatures, which were well matched with the measured $f_I$ value.
