  • The numerical investigation of obliquely incident wave interactions with fully submerged dual buoy/porous-membrane floating breakwaters placed in parallel with spacing is studied based on linear potential theory and Darcy's law. The numerical solutions are obtained by using a discrete-membrane dynamic model and second-kind modified Bessel function distribution over the entire boundaries of fluid regions. First, numerical solutions for an idealized dual submerged system without buoys are obtained. Second, a more practical dual submerged system with membrane tension provided by buoys at its tops is investigated by the multi-domain boundary element method particularly devised for dual buoy/porous-membrane problems with gaps. The velocity potentials of wave motion are coupled with porous-membrane deformation, and solved simultaneously since the boundary condition on porous-membrane is not known in advance. The effects of varying permeability on membranes and wave characteristics are discussed for the optimum design parameters of systems previously studied. The inclusion of permeability on membrane eliminates the resonances that aggravate the breakwater performance. The system is highly efficient when waves generated by the buoys and membranes were mutually canceled and its energy at resonance frequency dissipates through fine pores on membranes.

  • In this paper, a small RFID tag antenna in UHF band which has bandwidth-enhanced characteristic is proposed. The shape of the proposed antenna is a meander antenna to have size-reduced characteristic, and it consists of two radiators which make dual resonance in adjacent frequency to enhance bandwidth. By adjusting length and location of each radiator, the proposed antenna can make dual resonance at arbitrary location on the Smith chart, which is able to make impedance matching with RFID tag chip in wide frequency range. And it is apparent that the proposed antenna can have bandwidth-enhanced characteristic according to the simulated and measured results.

  • A full-bridge secondary dual-resonant DC-DC converter using the asymmetrical pulse-width modulated (APWM) strategy is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter achieves zero-voltage switching for the power switches and zero-current switching for the rectifier diodes in the whole load range without the help of any auxiliary circuit. Given the use of the APWM strategy, a circulating current that exists in a traditional phase-shift full-bridge converter is eliminated. The voltage stress of secondary rectifier diodes in the proposed converter is also clamped to the output voltage. Thus, the existing voltage oscillation of diodes in traditional PSFB converters is eliminated. This paper presents the circuit configuration of the proposed converter and analyzes its operating principle. Experimental results of a 1 kW 385 V/48 V prototype are presented to verify the analysis results of the proposed converter.

  • A novel circuit structure of dual-band bandstop filters is proposed in this paper. This structure comprises two shunt-connected tri-section stepped impedance resonators with a transmission line in between. Theoretical analysis from the equivalent circuit and design procedures are described. We represented graphs for filter design from the derived synthesis equations by resonance condition of circuits. Notably, advantages of the proposed filter structure are compact size in design, wide range of realizable resonance frequency ratio, and more realizable impedances.

  • In this paper, a dual-function dynamically tunable metamaterial absorber is proposed. At frequency points of 1.545 THz and 3.21 THz, two resonance peaks with absorption amplitude of 93.8% (peak I) and 99.4% (peak II) can be achieved. By regulating the conductivity of photosensitive silicon with a pump laser, the resonance frequency of peak I switches to 1.525 THz, and that of peak II switches to 2.79 THz. By adjusting the incident polarization angle by rotating the device, absorption amplitude tuning is obtained. By introducing two degrees of regulation freedom, the absorption amplitude modulation and resonant frequency switching are simultaneously realized. More importantly, dynamic and continuous adjustment of the absorption amplitude is obtained at a fixed resonant frequency, and the modulation depth reaches 100% for both peaks. In addition, the sensing property of the proposed MMA was studied while it was used as a refractive index sensor. Compared with other results reported, our device not only has a dual-function tunable characteristic and the highest modulation depth, but also simultaneously possesses fine sensing performance.

  • Free radicals including reactive oxygen species (ROS) are important chemicals in the research area of biology, pharmaceutical, medical, and environmental science as well as human health risk assessment as they are highly involved in diverse metabolism and toxicity mechanisms through chemical reactions with various components of living bodies. Electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy is a powerful tool for detecting and quantifying those radicals in biological environments. In this work we observed the ESR signal of 2,2,6,6-Tetra-methyl piperidine 1-oxyl (TEMPO) in aqueous solution at various concentrations to estimate the uncertainty factors arising from the experimental conditions and signal treatment methods. As the sample position highly influences the signal intensity, dual ESR tube geometry (consists of a detachable sample tube and a position fixed external tube) was adopted. This type of measurement geometry allowed to get the relative uncertainty of signal intensity lower than 1% when triple measurements are averaged. Linear dependence of signal intensity on the TEMPO concentration, which is required for the quantification of unknown sample, could be obtained over a concentration range of ~103 by optimizing the signal treatment method depending on the concentration range.

  • Metal halide (MH) lamps have been largely used due to high luminous efficiency, good color rendering, and long life. Since the metal halide lamps have problems of high ignition voltage and acoustic resonance. Thus, the design of ballast is very difficult for engineers. This paper proposes prototype of electric ballast in order to solve above two problems. The proposed electric ballast is consisted of EMI filter, full wave rectifier circuit, active PFC, DBI(Dual Buck Inverter), dimming circuit and ignitor circuit. The DBI supplies both rectangular voltage and current to the lamp. As the result of the experiment, the acoustic resonance was eliminated and the ignitor circuit was designed to generate high ignition voltage than 5kV. It makes the dimming circuit possible to control the lamp power in range between 230W and 350W.

  • This paper is about the design of a small wide-band slot loop antenna, which consists of dual offset-fed and rectangular loop within the slot on a substrate. The proposed antenna is a novel structure generating a multi-resonances due to three geometrical resonance structures. The impedance matching of this antenna can be accomplished by changing the offset position of dual-fed at resonance frequencies. In this experiment, the slot of a fabricated antenna has a center frequency of 6.755㎓, 12.5mm${\times}$50mm in size and the rectangular loop has 10.5mm${\times}$27.5mm in size. The measured result is fractional bandwidth 63.21% with VSWR 2:1, which is agreed with the simulated result within 5% of error, and the maximum antenna gain is 7.42㏈i.

  • To realize higher track density of HDD, the servo bandwidth should be higher, however, is limited by the mechanical resonances of the arm, coil of the VCM and ball bearing pivot. The dual-stage actuator systems have been suggested as a possible solution. For the dual-stage actuator systems based on the suspension, the suspension resonance frequencies in the radial access direction are important factors to increase a servo bandwidth, however the improvement of these frequencies may affect the shock resistance performance and spring constant. The slider's flying stability can be deteriorated by the change of a vertical stiffness. In this work, we have investigated a suspension design scheme possessing a milliactuator for dual-stage actuator systems and also achieved higher mechanical characteristics. Design parameters are deduced by finite element analysis with sensitivity function. It is confirmed that the proposed suspension with the milliactuator has the capability of fine tracking motion, due to its hinge structure on the spring region, and achieves higher mechanical resonance frequencies in the radial access direction with a high-shock resistance and a low-spring constant.

  • In this paper, the single port dual-band resonator for magnetic resonance wireless power transfer is proposed. The proposed dual-band resonator is consists of 20 turns spiral coil, a single loop, matching circuit, lumped elements, and a single port. The two sides of the matching circuit are connected to via holes. The spiral coil is operated at MF-band and single loop is operated at HF-band, respectively. We use two of the same structure resonators and simulated and the power transfer efficiency was calculated. The efficiency of simulation and measurement is above 60% at the MF and HF bands, and the distance is 100 mm.
