고조파 억제 필터를 이용한 무선전력전송 고이득 고효율 DC-AC 변환회로 (Wireless Power Transmission High-gain High-Efficiency DC-AC Converter Using Harmonic Suppression Filter)

  • 본 논문에서는 무선전력전송을 위한 고효율 DC-AC 변환 회로를 구현하였다. DC-AC 변환 회로는 발진기와 전력증폭기를 결합시켜 구현하였다. 전력증폭기의 전력 효율은 무선전력전송 송신 시스템의 효율에 크게 영향을 주기 때문에 Class-E 증폭구조를 이용하여 고효율 전력증폭기를 구현하였다. 또한, 전력증폭기의 입력 단에 연결되는 발진기의 출력 전력이 작기 때문에 높은 출력의 DC-AC 변환 회로를 구현하기 위하여 구동 증폭기를 이용한 고이득 이단 전력증폭기를 구현하였다. 고이득 고효율 이단 Class-E 전력증폭기의 입력 단에 발진기를 연결하여 고효율 DC-AC 변환 회로를 구현하였다. 13.56MHz의 2차, 3차 고조파 성분을 억제하기 위해 이중대역 저지 필터를 설계하여 결합하였다. DC-AC 변환 회로의 출력 전력과 변환 효율은 13.56 MHz에서 40 dBm과 80.2 %이다.

  • This paper presents two new circuit topologies of the dc busline side active resonant snubber assisted voltage source high frequency link soft switching PWM full-bridge dc-dc power converters acceptable for either utility ac 200V-rms or ac 400V-rms input grid. These high frequency switching dc-dc converters proposed in this paper are composed of a typical voltage source-fed full-bridge PWM inverter, high frequency transformer with center tap, high frequency diode rectifier with inductor input filter and dc busline side series switches with the aid of a dc busline parallel capacitive lossless snubber. All the active switches in the full-bridge arms as well as dc busline snubber can achieve ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off transition commutation with the aid of a transformer leakage inductive component and consequently the total switching power losses can be effectively reduced. So that, a high switching frequency operation of IGBTs in the voltage source full bridge inverter can be actually designed more than about 20 kHz. It is confirmed that the more the switching frequency of full-bridge soft switching inverter increases, the more soft switching PWM dc-dc converter with a high frequency transformer link has remarkable advantages for its power conversion efficiency and power density implementations as compared with the conventional hard switching PWM inverter type dc-dc power converter. The effectiveness of these new dc-dc power converter topologies can be proved to be more suitable for low voltage and large current dc-dc power supply as arc welding equipment from a practical point of view.

Design and Evaluation of a CMOS Image Sensor with Dual-CDS and Column-parallel SS-ADCs

  • This paper describes a CMOS image sensor (CIS) with dual correlated double sampling (CDS) and column-parallel analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and its measurement method using a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) integrated module. The CIS is composed of a $320{\times}240$ pixel array with $3.2{\mu}m{\times}3.2{\mu}m$ pixels and column-parallel 10-bit single-slope ADCs. It is fabricated in a $0.11-{\mu}m$ CIS process, and consumes 49.2 mW from 1.5 V and 3.3 V power supplies while operating at 6.25 MHz. The measured dynamic range is 53.72 dB, and the total and column fixed pattern noise in a dark condition are 0.10% and 0.029%. The maximum integral nonlinearity and the differential nonlinearity of the ADC are +1.15 / -1.74 LSB and +0.63 / -0.56 LSB, respectively.

Torque Density Improvement of Five-Phase PMSM Drive for Electric Vehicles Applications

  • In order to enhance torque density of five-phase permanent magnetic synchronous motor with third harmonic injection for electric vehicles (EVs) applications, optimum seeking method for injection ratio of third harmonic was proposed adopting theoretical derivation and finite element analysis method, under the constraint of same amplitude for current and air-gap flux. By five-dimension space vector decomposition, the mathematic model in two orthogonal space plane, $d_1-q_1$ and $d_3-q_3$, was deduced. And the corresponding dual-plane vector control method was accomplished to independently control fundamental and third harmonic currents in each vector plane. A five-phase PMSM prototype with quasi-trapezoidal flux pattern and its fivephase voltage source inverter were designed. Also, the dual-plane vector control was digitized in a single XC3S1200E FPGA. Simulation and experimental results prove that using the proposed optimum seeking method, the torque density of five-phase PMSM is enhanced by 20%, without any increase of power converter capacity, machine size and iron core saturation.

순환 전류를 이용한 병렬 연결된 사이리스터 듀얼 컨버터의 불균형 병렬 운전 보상 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Compensation Method for Unbalance Parallel Operation of Parallel Connected Thyristor Dual Converters using Circulating Current)

  • This study proposes a performance improvement for parallel-connected thyristor dual converters using a circulating current with an unbalanced parallel operation compensator. The proposed control method determines a variable reference value for the voltage PI controller according to voltage error at firing angle control applied to a difference current control. This method uses circulating current control to maintain a stable voltage and excellent current response during parallel operation. The effectiveness of the proposed control is verified with a simulation and an experiment based on the comparison of the performance of the proposed control method with other conventional methods.

A Novel IPT System Based on Dual Coupled Primary Tracks for High Power Applications

  • Generally, a single phase H-bridge converter feeding a single primary track is employed in conventional inductive power transfer systems. However, these systems may not be suitable for some high power applications due to the constraints of the semiconductor switches and the cost. To resolve this problem, a novel dual coupled primary tracks IPT system consisting of two high frequency resonant inverters feeding the tracks is presented in this paper. The primary tracks are wound around an E-shape ferrite core in parallel which enhances the magnetic flux around the tracks. The mutual inductance of the coupled tracks is utilized to achieve adjustable power sharing between the inverters by configuring the additional resonant capacitors. The total transfer power can be continuously regulated by altering the pulse width of the inverters' output voltage with the phase shift control approach. In addition, the system's efficiency and the control strategy are provided to analyze the characteristic of the proposed IPT system. An experimental setup with total power of 1.4kW is employed to verify the proposed system under power ratios of 1:1 and 1:2 with a transfer efficiency up to 88.7%. The results verify the performance of the proposed system.

Modeling and Position-Sensorless Control of a Dual-Airgap Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Machine for Flywheel Energy Storage Systems

  • This paper presents the modeling and position-sensorless vector control of a dual-airgap axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) machine optimized for use in flywheel energy storage system (FESS) applications. The proposed AFPM machine has two sets of three-phase stator windings but requires only a single power converter to control both the electromagnetic torque and the axial levitation force. The proper controllability of the latter is crucial as it can be utilized to minimize the vertical bearing stress to improve the efficiency of the FESS. The method for controlling both the speed and axial displacement of the machine is discussed. An inherent speed sensorless observer is also proposed for speed estimation. The proposed observer eliminates the rotary encoder, which in turn reduces the overall weight and cost of the system while improving its reliability. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme has been verified by simulations and experiments on a prototype machine.

  • 본 논문에서는 수학적 모델링과 성능 분석을 통해 LVDC 용 3상 Dual Active Bridge (DAB) 컨버터의 효율을 증가시킬 수 있는 다양한 방법에 대해서 제안하고자 한다. 3상 DAB 컨버터의 경우 양방향 전력 변환을 필요로 하는 고전력 응용에서 많이 사용되고 있다. 이는 3상 DAB 컨버터가 영전압 스위칭이 가능할 뿐만 아니라, 단상 DAB 컨버터 대비 낮은 도통 손실을 가질 수 있기 때문이다. 고전압/고전류 응용의 경우 대부분 능동 소자로 IGBT가 사용되는데, 따라서 대전력 응용에서 3상 DAB 컨버터의 영전압 스위칭이 가능한 장점을 퇴색시키고, 높은 스위칭 손실을 야기한다. 뿐만 아니라 3상 DAB 컨버터의 경우 고부하 상태에서 높은 순환 전류로 인해 도통 손실이 증가한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 상기의 단점을 극복하기 위하여 IGBT의 턴-오프 전류를 최소화 시키고, RMS 전류를 낮출 수 있는 설계 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 모의시험과 5 kW급 시작품을 이용한 실험결과를 통해 제안하고자 하는 설계 방법의 타당성을 검증하고자 한다.

ESS용 전류원 DAB 컨버터의 하이브리드 스위칭 알고리즘에 관한 연구 (A Hybrid Switching Modulation of Current-Fed Dual-Active-Bridge Converter for Energy Storage System)

  • 본 논문에서는 ESS용 전류원 Dual-Active-Bridge 컨버터의 저 부하 및 고 부하에서의 효율 향상을 위한 하이브리드 스위칭 알고리즘을 제안하고자 한다. 전류원 DAB 컨버터는 인터리브 구조를 이용하여 배터리 단의 입력 전류 리플을 저감할 수 있고, 전력 변환 효율 개선을 위한 다양한 제어 변수를 도입할 수 있는 등의 장점으로 인해 DC 마이크로그리드에서 ESS용 절연형 양방향 DC/DC 컨버터로 주목받고 있다. 그러나 전류원 DAB에서 종래의 전력 제어 방법인 펄스폭 변조 방식과 위상천이가 결합된 방법 (PWM plus Phase Shift, PPS)의 경우 저 부하 조건에서 높은 피크 전류로 인해 도통 손실이 크며, 펄스폭 변조 방식과 이중 위상천이가 결합된 방법(PWM plus Dual Phase Shift, PPDPS)의 경우 고 부하 조건에서 영전압 스위치 영역이 좁아져 효과적이지 않다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 2차 측의 펄스폭과 위상천이를 독립적으로 제어하는 하이브리드 스위칭 알고리즘을 통해 순환전류를 감소시키고 영전압 스위치 영역을 확장시켜 저 부하 및 고 부하 모두에서 효율을 향상시키고자 한다. 1-kW급 전류원 DAB 컨버터 시작품을 통해 제안된 하이브리드 스위칭 알고리즘의 효율성과 타당성을 검증한다.

A novel PLL control method for robust three-phase thyristor converter under sag and notch conditions

  • The paper presents a novel phase locked loop(PLL) control method for robust three-phase thyristor dual converters under sag, notch, and phase loss conditions. This method is applied to three line to line voltages of grid to derive three phase angle errors from three separated single-phase PLLs. They can substitute for abnormal phase to guarantee the synchronization in the various grid fault conditions. The performance of novel PLL with moving average method is verified through simulations.
