In a pressurized water reactor (PWR), control rod assembly (CRA) falls into the guide tubes of a fuel assembly due to gravity for scram. Various theoretical approaches and numerical analyses have been performed because its shape is simple and its design was completely developed several decades ago. A control rod assembly for a sodium-cooled faster reactor (SFR) which is geometrically more complicated is being actively developed in Korea nowadays. Drop time and impact velocity of a CRA are important parameters with respect to reactivity insertion time and the mechanical robustness of a CRA and a guide duct. In this paper, computational method considering simultaneously the equation of motion for rigid body and the Navier-Stokes equations for fluid is suggested and verified by comparison with theoretical analysis results. Through this valuable CFD analysis method, drop time and impact velocity of initially designed SFR CRA are evaluated before performing scram tests with it.

The aim of this article is to perform the numerical simulation far drop drag and breakup processes in air-assisted sprays using the Taylor analogy breakup (TAB) model with a modified drop drag model, in which a random method is newly used to consider the variation of the drop's frontal area. The predicted results for drop trajectory and Salter mean diameter (SMD) were compared with experimental data and the simulation results using the earlier published models such as TAH model, surface wave instability (Wave) model, and Wave model with original drop drag model. In addition, the effects of the breakup model constant, Ck, on prediction of spray behaviors were discussed. The results shows that the TAB model with the modified drop drag model is in better agreement with experimental data than the other models, indicating the present model is acceptable for predicting the drop breakup process in air-assisted sprays. At higher Weber numbers, the smaller Ck shows the best fitting to experimental data. It should be noted that more elaborated studies is required in order to determine the breakup model constant in the suggested model in the study.
The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in kinetic and kinematic variables associated with an increase in upper body weight. Eighteen healthy male university students($175.96{\pm}4.19\;cm$, $70.79{\pm}8.26\;kg$) participated. Eight motion analysis cameras(Qualysis Oqus 500) and 2 force AMTI platforms(Advanced Mechanical Technologies Inc. OR6-7, US) were used to record motion and forces during the drop landing at a frequency of 120 Hz and 1200 Hz, respectively. QTM software(Qualisys Track Manager) was used to record the data, and the variables were analyzed with Visual 3D and Matlab 2009. For the drop landing, a box of $4{\times}2{\times}0.46\;m$ was constructed from wood. Knee and ankle maximum flexion angle, knee flexion angle, knee and ankle angle at landing, time for maximum ankle flexion after landing, and time for maximum knee flexion after landing were calculated. There was a significant change in the time for maximum and minimum ground force reaction and the time for maximum dorsal flexion after landing(p<.05) with increasing weight. There was no significant change for the hip, knee, and ankle ROM, whereas there was an increase in the angle ROM as the weight increased, in the order of ankle, knee, and hip ROM. This result shows that the ankle joint ROM increased with increasing weight for shock attenuation during the drop landing. There was a trend for greater ankle ROM than knee ROM, but there was no clear change in the ROM of the hip joint with increasing weight. In conclusion, this study shows the importance of ankle joint flexibility and strength for safe drop landing.
A novel sample pretreatment technique, headspace hanging drop liquid phase microextraction (HS-LPME) was studied and applied to the determination of flavors from solid clove buds by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Several parameters affecting on HS-LPME such as organic solvent drop volume, extraction time, extraction temperature and phase ratio were investigated. 1-Octanol was selected as the extracting solvent, drop size was fixed to 0.6 $\mu$L. 60 min extraction time at 25 ${^{\circ}C}$ was chosen. HS-LPME has the good efficiency demonstrated by the higher partition equilibrium constant ($K_{lh}$) values and concentration factor (CF) values. The limits of detection (LOD) were 1.5-3.2 ng. The amounts of eugenol, $\beta$-caryophyllene and eugenol acetate from the clove bud sample were 1.90 mg/g, 1.47 mg/g and 7.0 mg/g, respectively. This hanging drop based method is a simple, fast and easy sample enrichment technique using minimal solvent. HSLPME is an alternative sample preparation method for the analysis of volatile aroma compounds by GC-MS.

This paper addressed real-time urine monitoring device for intensive care patients. The device was developed to detect and count each urine drop using optical sensor and calculate the current urine output volume and its hourly rate. In experiment, the water volume scale of drainage bottle was observed and compared with the count of the device so that the volume of each drop was found to vary with the dropping rate per minute. From this measurement, the relationship equation was derived to estimate the total water volume from the drop rate (correlation coefficient : r= 0.99). The developed device could be applied to count patient's urine drop successfully. Therefore, this device can be used to monitor intensive care patient's urine status in real-time.
A new waveform control technique has been developed for suppressing the spatter generation in the repelled transfer mode of high current $CO_2$ welding. Based on the spatters in repelled transfer, a waveform concept of concept was established in a way to drop the welding current to lower level right before the pendant weld drop detatchment so that the explosion force associating with drop detatchment was decreased. There were several variables to be controlled such as the moment of current drop, the base current and the time of retention at the base current. Either at lower base current or at longer retention time, the more instantaneous shot circuits were int개duced and thus the spatter generation rates were increased. With optimizing the control variables, the amount of spatter generated was decreased by about 30%.
In a PWR rod cluster control assembly(RCCA) for shutdown is released upon action of control rod drive mechanism and falls down through the guide thimble by its weight. Drop time and impact velocity of the RCCA are two key parameters with respect to reactivity insertion time and the mechanical integrity of fuel assembly. Therefore, the precise control of drop time and impact velocity is prerequisite to modifying the existing design features of the RCCA and guide thimble or newly designing them. During its falling down into the core, the RCCA is retarded by various forces acting on it such as fluid resistance caused by the RCCA movement, buoyance and mechanical friction caused by contacting inner surface of the guide thimble, etc. However, complicated coupling of the various forces makes it difficult to derive an analytical dynamic equation for the drop time and impact velocity. This paper deals with the development of a computer program containing an analytical dynamic equation applicable to the Korean Fuel Assembly(KOFA). The computer program is benchmarked with an available single control rod drop tests. Since the predicted values are in good agreement with the test results, the computer program developed in this paper can be employed to modify the exiting design features of the RCCA and guide thimble and to develope their new design features for advanced nuclear reactors.
The purpose of this study was to present the basic data on improving the skills for 3 junior high school national badminton players in clear and drop motion through the 3-dimensional image analysis. Therefore, the results of this study are as follows: 1. In the duration times per phase, subject C relatively showed a similar time between clear and drop motion. Accordingly, C took a more effective motion than A and B. 2. In the velocities of racket head, subject A and C showed similar changes relatively. However, in case of subject B, the velocity was decreased before back swing(E2) and increased until impact(E3). 3. Regardless of clear and drop motion, the changing phases of joint angle for wrist and elbow showed similar changes comparatively. 4. In the angles of upper body, clear motion was average 85.0 degree and drop one was average 80.7 degree during the impact(E3). Hence, it showed that drop motion hit the ball bowing the upper body more than clear one. 5. In the angles of racket head, clear motion was average 87.7 degree and drop one was average 85.6 degree during the impact(E3). Consequently, drop motion was impacted forward more than clear one.

In order to various service types of real time and non-real time traffic with varying requirements are transmitted over the IEEE 802.16 standard is expected to provide quality of service(QoS) researchers have explored to provide a queue management scheme with differentiated loss guarantees for the future Internet. The sides of a packet drop rate, an each class to differential drop probability on achieving a low delay and high traffic intensity. Improved a queue management scheme to be enhanced to offer a drop probability is desired necessarily. This paper considers multiple random early detection with differential drop probability which is a slightly modified version of the Multiple-RED(Random Early Detection) model, to get the performance of the best suited, we analyzes its main control parameters (maxth, minth, maxp) for achieving the proportional loss differentiation (PLD) model, and gives their setting guidance from the analytic approach. we propose Dynamic-multiple queue management scheme based on differential drop probability, called Dynamic-VQSDDP(Variable Queue State Differential Drop Probability)T, is proposed to overcome M-RED's shortcoming as well as supports static maxp parameter setting values for relative and each class proportional loss differentiation. M-RED is static according to the situation of the network traffic, Network environment is very dynamic situation. Therefore maxp parameter values needs to modify too to the constantly and dynamic. The verification of the guidance is shown with figuring out loss probability using a proposed algorithm under dynamic offered load and is also selection problem of optimal values of parameters for high traffic intensity and show that Dynamic-VQSDDP has the better performance in terms of packet drop rate. We also demonstrated using an ns-2 network simulation.
