A scaling analysis is provided which predicts the sliding velocity of a liquid drop down an inclined surface. The analysis is based on the balance of the gravitational work rate that drives the drop sliding and the resistances by capillary and viscous forces. The capillary resistance is accounted for via the contact angle hysteresis, which is quantified by measuring the critical inclination causing the drop to start sliding. The sliding of the drop is governed by the rate of the viscous dissipation of the Stokes flow. The analysis result in its limit form for small contact angles is consistent with previous results. In the experiments to verify the analysis results, the measured sliding velocity of various liquid drops are shown to obey the predictions made in this study.
Load capacity varies according to a day of the week in traction power supply system, because time schedule in railway is changed as demand for passengers and freights. Therefore, Voltage drop also varies as load capacity. In Korea railway, Voltage collected from catenary in train is decreased, as load supplied traction power supply system is increased. Therefore, investigation about voltage drop should be performed, before development of countermeasure against voltage drop. The investigation can be performed by simulation or field test. Naturally, field test is more precise than simulation. In addition, field test should be carried out at peak load. This paper presents test and analysis about voltage drop in railway. The test is performed in both a day of the week and weekend. The analysis is figured out comparison load capacity between two days and voltage drop across terminal.

A high-pressure, high-pressure drop control valve, which transforms the power transfer of a system by reducing the inlet pressure of 345bartothe outlet pressure of 112bar, is a fundamental component in an offshore plant process. With the increasingly growing market share of the maritime industry, this valve has been expected to be a high-value-added product. This study not only analyzes the relation between pressure drop and fluid velocity in a trim by using fluid analysis, but also examines the possibility of cavitation in a valve in addition to the plot for the extension of lifespan. Based on the analysis results, the design and production method of the valve are established, and accordingly, performance evaluation is carried out. It is demonstrated that the pressure drop from 345bar to 112bar is more feasible in the presence of the trim, which can induce a continuous and diminutive pressure drop in order to prevent cavitation in a high-pressure drop control valve. Furthermore, despite the fluid velocity near a seatring being found to be over 30m/s, the lifespan of the valve is determined to be adequate considering the operation condition of a prototype valve of 80%.
This study illucidated the importance of drop Value in the resets of surveying the current values of sizing and grading. Therefore, it is meaningful to get the classification of body form with the appropriate distribution of drop values of the body. The distribution of drop value and the frequency of each form is very helpful to name the combined sizing or coverage of ready-made clothes. This study aimed at classifying body forms with various drop values using multivariate analysis for sizing and grading. Factor analysis and cluster analysis were done using measured values from unmarried women. The resets are as follows; The factor which explains body forms was obtained by factor analysis, and the representative major 18 items which have important roles in classifying body forms were selected among the measured values with high factor loading and communality. 1) The body forms were classified into 3 groups based on the characteristics, frequencies and distributions of them obtained from cluster analysis. 2) Each classified body form showed conspicuous difference in drop value and the difference of body form mainly resulted from the difference between bust and hip(drop value) in Korean unmarried women. 3) Discriminant analysis showed that the most significant discriminant factor of the trunk classification were bust circumference, upper bust circumference, hip circumference and stature. 4) The cover ratio of size studied in this study for the Korean Sizing system for women's garment were founded high.
This paper describes on pressure drop in a circular pipe of refuse collecting system. The flow characteristics inside the circular pipe are analyzed by three-dimensional Navier-Stokes analysis. In numerical analysis, an organic waste is modeled using the data obtained by site survey. Pressure drop obtained by numerical simulation is compared to the value obtained by experimental measurements for the two kinds of pipe; straight and bended type. The pressure drop obtained by numerical simulation has a good agreement with that of experiments. It is noted that the accurate prediction of pressure drop in the waste pipe is very important to determine the performance of turbo blower used in making a suction pressure in the waste pipe. Especially, the pressure drop for an organic waste is analyzed according to the mass flow rate of waste.
The variability of a ventilated filter cigarette depends on the details of its construction and on the variabilities of its components. Variations in filter ventilation arise from many sources, including variations in tobacco rod pressure drop, filter tip pressure drop, tipping paper permeability, and plugwrap permeability. To reduce the filter ventilation variability, the variability of filter ventilation levels in ventilated cigarettes is studied by Monte Carlo Analysis. For each trials a value is selected for tobacco rod pressure drop, filter tip pressure drop, tipping paper permeability, and plugwrap permeability. These values are selected randomly from a normal distribution based on the target and coefficient of variation for each input variable. The results of this analysis for filter ventilation variation suggest that the variations of filter ventilation are dependent on the details of cigarette designs studied and reducing the variability of any cigarette component will reduce filter ventilation variability. For typical cigarettes, variation in the permeability of tipping paper is usually the most significant contributor to filter ventilation variability. Results of a Monte Carlo Analysis could provide both general insights and specific practical guidance about the design of ventilated filter cigarettes.
The purpose of this study was to present the basic data on improving the skills for 3 junior high school national badminton players in clear and drop motion through the 3-dimensional image analysis. Therefore, the results of this study are as follows: 1. In the duration times per phase, subject C relatively showed a similar time between clear and drop motion. Accordingly, C took a more effective motion than A and B. 2. In the velocities of racket head, subject A and C showed similar changes relatively. However, in case of subject B, the velocity was decreased before back swing(E2) and increased until impact(E3). 3. Regardless of clear and drop motion, the changing phases of joint angle for wrist and elbow showed similar changes comparatively. 4. In the angles of upper body, clear motion was average 85.0 degree and drop one was average 80.7 degree during the impact(E3). Hence, it showed that drop motion hit the ball bowing the upper body more than clear one. 5. In the angles of racket head, clear motion was average 87.7 degree and drop one was average 85.6 degree during the impact(E3). Consequently, drop motion was impacted forward more than clear one.
Recently much research are has been done into the compositions of lead-free solders. As a result, there has been a rapid increase in the number of new compositions. In the past, the properties of these new compositions were determined and verified through drop-impact tests. However, these drop tests were expensive and it took a long time to obtain a result. The main goal of this study was to establish an analytical method capable of predicting the impact life-time of a new solder composition for board-level flip chips though the application of drop simulations using LS-DYNA. Based on the reaction load obtain with LS-DYNA, the drop-impact fracture cycles were predicted. The study was performed using a Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder (305 composition). To verify the reliability of the proposed analytical method, the results of the drop-impact tests and life-time analysis were compared, and were found to be in good agreement. Thus, the new analytical method was shown to be very useful and effective.
The package used to transport radioactive materials, which is called by cask, must be safe under normal and hypothetical accident conditions. These requirements for the cask design must be verified through test or finite element analysis. Since the cost for FE analysis is less than one for test. the verification by FE analysis is mainly used. But due to the complexity of mechanical behaviors. the results depends on how users apply the codes and it can cause severe errors during analysis. In this paper, finite element analysis is carried out for the 9 meters free drop and the puncture condition of the hypothetical accident conditions using LS-DYNA3D and ABAQUS/Explicit. We have investigated the analyzing technique for the free drop impact test of the cask and found several vulnerable cases to errors. The analyzed results were compared with each other. We have suggested a reliable and relatively simple analysis technique for the drop test of spent nuclear fuel casks.
