The analysis of the dynamic behavior of the packaging of a drum washing machine has been carried out under the drop impact conditions. LS-DYNA software is used for performing the finite element analysis, and the validations are performed by comparing with the impact acceleration, effective stress and deformation of cushioned package with high-speed camera during free drop test. By analyzing the cushion characteristics and the design parameters of the original packaging, a packaging with an improved design is developed, and this design is validated on the basis of the results of the distribution test which consists of drop test, vibration test, stacking test, squeez test and so on. The drop impact simulation and analysis methods developed in this study can be adopted to successfully improve the cushioning provided by the packaging and to reduce the cost involved in developing new packaging for drum washing machines.
Nowadays CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) became widely used materials for the strengthening and retrofitting of structures. Many experimental and analytical studies are encountered at literature about strengthening beams by using this kind of materials against static loads and cyclic loads such as earthquake or wind loading for investigating their behavior. But authors did not found any study about strengthening of RC beams by using CFRP against low velocity impact and investigating their behavior. For these reasons an experimental study is conducted on totally ten strengthened RC beams. Impact loading is applied on to specimens by using an impact loading system that is designed by authors. Investigated parameters were concrete compression strength and drop height. Two different sets of specimens with different concrete compression strength tested under the impact loading that are applied by dropping constant weight hammer from five different heights. The acceleration arises from the impact loading is measured against time. The change of velocity, displacement and energy are calculated for all specimens. The failure modes of the specimens with normal and high concrete compression strength are observed under the loading of constant weight impact hammer that are dropped from different heights. Impact behaviors of beams are positively affected from the strengthening with CFRP. Measured accelerations, the number of drops up to failure and dissipated energy are increased. Finite element analysis that are made by using ABAQUS software is used for the simulation of experiments, and model gave compatible results with experiments.

Ink-jet is part of the non impact printing that shooting the ink drop from the nozzle to paper. It is very silence and express good color. There are two types of printing that continuous and drop on demand. But drop on demand process is becoming the mainstream. these days, LCD, PDP is passed more than semiconductor industry. And we expect organic EL, FED as a next display. But product equipment, main component and technology have a gap between an advanced country and us nevertheless physical development. Expecially, previous process part is depended on imports. Ink-jet printing technology that there isn't complicated photo lithography process is attracted, so ink-jet printing resolution is more embossed. But there were not many of ink-jet resolution thesis but ink-jet head or nozzle. Because, to out of the ink from the nozzle is unseeable and hard to experiment. Therefore this thesis was experimented and simulated how can ink-jet printer improved resolution by flow-3d simulation package program.
This paper studies the lateral impact behavior of ultra-high performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) filled double-skin steel tubular (UHPFRCFDST) columns. The impact force, midspan deflection, and strain histories were recorded. Based on the test results, the influences of drop height, axial load, concrete type, and steel tube wall thickness on the impact resistance of UHPFRCFDST members were analyzed. LS-DYNA software was used to establish a finite element (FE) model of UHPFRC filled steel tubular members. The failure modes and histories of impact force and midspan deflection of specimens were obtained. The simulation results were compared to the test results, which demonstrated the accuracy of the finite element analysis (FEA) model. Finally, the effects of the steel tube thickness, impact energy, type of concrete and impact indenter shape, and void ratio on the lateral impact performances of the UHPFRCFDST columns were analyzed.
This paper provides theoretical and experimental results to verify the crashworthiness of FH32 high-strength steel for arctic marine structures against ice impact. Assuming that side-shell structures of the Korean arctic research vessel, ARAON, with ice-notation PL10, collide with sheet ice, one-third-scale test specimens with a single transverse frame are manufactured. Impact-bending tests were conducted using a rigid steel striker that mimics sheet ice. Drop height was calculated by considering the speed at which sheet ice is rammed. Prior to impact-bending tests, tensile coupon tests were conducted at various temperatures. The impact-bending tests were carried out using test specimens fully fixed to the inside bottom frame of a cold chamber. The drop-weight velocity and test specimen deformation speed were measured using a high-speed camera and digital image correlation analysis (DICA). Numerical simulations were carried out under the same conditions as the impact-bending tests. The simulation results were in agreement with the test results, and strain rate was a key factor for the accuracy of numerical simulations.
Accidental anchor drop can cause disturbances to seabed materials and pose significant threats to the safety and serviceability of submarine structures such as pipelines. In this study, a series of anchor drop tests was carried out to investigate the penetration mechanism of a Hall anchor in sand and clay. A special anchor drop apparatus was designed to model the inflight drop of a Hall anchor. Results indicate that Coriolis acceleration was the primary cause of large horizontal offsets in sand, and earth gravity had negligible impact on the lateral movement of dropped anchors. The indued final horizontal offset was shown to increase with the elevated drop height of an anchor, and the existence of water can slow down the landing velocity of an anchor. It is also observed that water conditions had a significant effect on the influence zone caused by anchors. The vertical influence depth was over 5 m, and the influence radius was more than 3 m if the anchor had a drop height of 25 m in dry sand. In comparison, the vertical influence depth and radius reduced to less than 3 m and 2 m, respectively, when the anchor was released from 10 m height and fell into the seabed with a water depth of 15 m. It is also found that the dynamically penetrating anchors could significantly influence the earth pressure in clay. There is a non-linear increase in the measured penetration depth with kinematic energy, and the resulted maximum earth pressure increased dramatically with an increase in kinematic energy. Results from centrifuge model tests in this study provide useful insights into the penetration mechanism of a dropped anchor, which provides valuable data for design and planning of future submarine structures.

While the structural safety assessment of Cargo Containment System(CCS) in membrane type LNG carriers has to be carried out in consideration of sloshing impact pressure, it is very difficult to figure out its dynamic response behaviors due to its very complex structural arrangements/materials and complicated phenomena of sloshing impact loading. For the development of its original technique, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of dynamic response behavior of CCS structure under sloshing impact pressure. In this study, for the exact understanding of dynamic response behavior of CCS structure in membrane Mark III type LNG carriers under sloshing impact pressure, its wet drop impact response analyses were carried out by using Fluid-Structure Interaction(FSI) analysis technique of LS-DYNA code, and were also validated through a series of wet drop experiments for the enhancement of more accurate shock response analysis technique. It might be thought that the structural response behaviors of impact response analysis, such as impact pressure impulses and resulted strain time histories, generally showed very good agreement with experimental ones with very appropriate use of FSI analysis technique of LS-DYNA code, finite element modeling and material properties of CCS structure, finite element modeling and equation of state(EOS) of fluid domain.

This research examines the drop impact of an external cooling unit package of an air conditioner system. The packaging is composed of a shock-absorbing material, which protects the package contents by absorbing the impact energy and other parts for fixture. Accurate quantification of the impact acceleration experienced by the package contents is necessary to design an effective packaging with minimal volume and sufficient shock absorbing capacity. Explicit time integration was used for the drop impact analyses. A finite element model of the package was constructed, material testing and material model selection were carried out, and sensors for data acquisition were modeled to obtain accurate simulation results. The results were compared with real physical test data. Due to imprecise modeling of the damping, the acceleration and strain values predicted by the simulation were larger than those from physical test. However, the trend of the history data and the peak deceleration value in the direction of impact showed good agreements. Thus, the analysis model and scheme are suitable for the design of an air conditioner cooling unit package.
A steel-concrete composite (SC) panel typically consists of two steel faceplates and a plain concrete core. This paper investigated the impact response of SC panels through drop hammer tests and numerical simulations. The influence of the drop height, faceplate thickness, and axial compressive preload was studied. Experimental results showed that the deformation of SC panels under impact consists of local indentation and overall bending. The resistance of the panel significantly decreased after the local failure occurred. A three-dimensional finite element model was established to simulate the response of SC panels under low-velocity impact, in which the axial preload could be considered reasonably. The predicted displacements and impact force were in good agreement with the experimental results. Based on the validated model, a parametric study was conducted to further discuss the effect of the axial compressive preload.

This paper investigated the drop characteristics of oleo pneumatic type landing gear for small aircraft and the effects of cavitations in modeling the landing gear system. The landing gear system employed a simple oleo pneumatic type damper without a metering pin. In general, oleo-pneumatic type landing gears are light-weighted because of it's simplicity, yet they offer excellent impact absorption characteristics. In this study, the landing gear system was modeled using MSC ADAMS, which offers a drop simulation module. After modeling the system, a series of testing was conducted, using a prototype landing gear system, to validate the analysis model and simulation results. The effect of cavitation was considered in the simulation model to obtain a better correlation between the test and simulation results. The results show that adding the cavitation effect in the simulation model significantly improved the simulation model and better captured the dynamic behaviors of the landing system. Using the 'cavitation' model, dynamics characteristics of the landing gear were further evaluated for other landing conditions, such as landing in various angles of slopes.
