In the view of the application of high-precision spatial information production, UAV (Umanned Aerial Vehicle)-Photogrammetry has a problem in that it lacks specific procedures and detailed regulations for quantitative quality verification methods or certification of captured images. In addition, test tools for UAV image quality assessment use only the GSD (Ground Sample Distance), not MTF (Modulation Transfer Function), which reflects image resolution and contrast at the same time. This fact makes often the quality of UAV image inferior to that of manned aerial image. We performed MTF and GSD analysis simultaneously using a siemens star to confirm the necessity of MTF analysis in UAV image quality assessment. The analyzing results of UAV images taken with different payload and sensors show that there is a big difference in σMTF values, representing image resolution and the degree of contrast, but slightly different in GSD. It concluded that the MTF analysis is a more objective and reliable analysis method than just the GSD analysis method, and high-quality drone images can only be obtained when the operator make images after judging the proper selection the sensor performance, image overlaps, and payload type. However, the results of this study are derived from analyzing only images acquired by limited sensors and imaging conditions. It is therefore expected that more objective and reliable results will be obtained if continuous research is conducted by accumulating various experimental data in related fields in the future.

Cities are becoming more complex due to rapid industrialization and population growth in modern times. In particular, urban areas are rapidly changing due to housing site development, reconstruction, and demolition. Thus accurate road information is necessary for various purposes, such as High Definition Map for autonomous car driving. In the case of the Republic of Korea, accurate spatial information can be generated by making a map through the existing map production process. However, targeting a large area is limited due to time and money. Road, one of the map elements, is a hub and essential means of transportation that provides many different resources for human civilization. Therefore, it is essential to update road information accurately and quickly. This study uses Semantic Segmentation algorithms Such as LinkNet, D-LinkNet, and NL-LinkNet to extract roads from drone images and then apply hyperparameter optimization to models with the highest performance. As a result, the LinkNet model using pre-trained ResNet-34 as the encoder achieved 85.125 mIoU. Subsequent studies should focus on comparing the results of this study with those of studies using state-of-the-art object detection algorithms or semi-supervised learning-based Semantic Segmentation techniques. The results of this study can be applied to improve the speed of the existing map update process.

Since vegetation provides humans with various ecological spaces and is also very important in terms of water resources and climatic environment, many vegetation monitoring studies using vegetation indexes based on near infrared sensors have been conducted. Therefore, if the near infrared sensor is not provided, the vegetation monitoring study has a practical problem. In this study, to improve this problem, the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) was used as a reference to evaluate the accuracy of the vegetation index based on the optical sensor. First, the Kappa coefficient was calculated by overlapping the vegetation survey point surveyed in the field with the NDVI. As a result, the vegetation area with a threshold value of 0.6 or higher, which has the highest Kappa coefficient of 0.930, was evaluated based on optical sensor based vegetation index accuracy. It could be selected as standard data. As a result of selecting NDVI as reference data and comparing with vegetation index based on optical sensor, the Kappa coefficients at the threshold values of 0.04, 0.08, and 0.30 or higher were the highest, 0.713, 0.713, and 0.828, respectively. In particular, in the case of the RGBVI (Red Green Red Vegetation Index), the Kappa coefficient was high at 0.828. Therefore, it was found that the vegetation monitoring study using the optical sensor is possible even in environments where the near infrared sensor is not available.

Although the number of trees affected by pine wilt disease is decreasing, the affected area is expanding across the country. Recently, with the development of deep learning technology, it is being rapidly applied to the detection study of pine wilt nematodes and dead trees. The purpose of this study is to efficiently acquire deep learning training data and acquire accurate true values to further improve the detection ability of U-Net models through learning. To achieve this purpose, by using a filtering method applying a step-by-step deep learning algorithm the ambiguous analysis basis of the deep learning model is minimized, enabling efficient analysis and judgment. As a result of the analysis the U-Net model using the true values analyzed by period in the detection and performance improvement of dead pine trees of wilt nematode using the U-Net algorithm had a recall rate of -0.5%p than the U-Net model using the previously provided true values, precision was 7.6%p and F-1 score was 4.1%p. In the future, it is judged that there is a possibility to increase the precision of wilt detection by applying various filtering techniques, and it is judged that the drone surveillance method using drone orthographic images and artificial intelligence can be used in the pine wilt nematode disaster prevention project.

In order to improve the accuracy of the deep learning object detection technique, the effect of magnification rate conditions and seasonal factors on detection accuracy in aerial photographs and drone images was analyzed through experiments. Among the deep learning object detection techniques, Mask R-CNN, which shows fast learning speed and high accuracy, was used to detect the vehicle to be detected in pixel units. Through Seoul's aerial photo service, learning images were captured at different screen magnifications, and the accuracy was analyzed by learning each. According to the experimental results, the higher the magnification level, the higher the mAP average to 60%, 67%, and 75%. When the magnification rates of train and test data of the data set were alternately arranged, low magnification data was arranged as train data, and high magnification data was arranged as test data, showing a difference of more than 20% compared to the opposite case. And in the case of drone images with a seasonal difference with a time difference of 4 months, the results of learning the image data at the same period showed high accuracy with an average of 93%, confirming that seasonal differences also affect learning.

Recently interests on the application of thermal cameras have increased with the advance of image analysis technology. Aside from a simple image acquisition, applications such as digital twin and thermal image management systems have gained popularity. To this end, we studied the effect of emissivity on the DN (Digital Number) value in the process of derivation of a relational expression for converting DN to an actual surface temperature. The DN value is a number representing the spectral band value of the thermal image, and is an important element constituting the thermal image data. However, the DN value is not a temperature value indicating the actual surface temperature, but a brightness value indicating high and low heat as brightness, and has a non-linear relationship with the actual surface temperature. The reliable relationship between DN and the actual surface temperature is critical for a thermal image processing. We tested the relationship between the actual surface temperature and the DN value of the thermal image, and then the radiation adjustment was performed to better estimate actual surface temperatures. As a result, the relation graph between the actual surface temperature and the DN value similarly show linear pattern with the relation graph between the radiation-controlled non-contact thermometer and the DN value. And the non-contact temperature after adjusting the emissivity was closer to the actual surface temperature than before adjusting the emissivity.

In order to conduct rapid, accurate and safe surveying at the excavation site, In this study, the possibility of underground facility survey using drones and the expected effect of 3D visualization were obtained as follows. Phantom4Pro 20MP drones have a 30m flight altitude and a redundant 85% flight plan, securing a GSD (Ground Sampling Distance) value of 0.85mm and 4points of GCP (Groud Control Point)and 2points of check point were calculated, and 7.3mm of ground control point and 11mm of check point were obtained. The importance of GCP was confirmed when measured with low-cost drones. If there is no ground reference point, the error range of X value is derived from -81.2 cm to +90.0 cm, and the error range of Y value is +6.8 cm to 155.9 cm. This study classifies point cloud data using the Pix4D program. I'm sorting underground facility data and road pavement data, and visualized 3D data of road and underground facilities of actual model through overlapping process. Overlaid point cloud data can be used to check the location and depth of the place you want through the Open Source program CloudCompare. This study will become a new paradigm of underground facility surveying.

High voltage power transmission lines have been to keep the proper dip for maintenance. Powerline dips at a random point are conventionally measured by the direct or indirect observation but it is not only unsafe but labor-intensive. Therefore in this study we applied the photogrammetric technique to remotely measure the powerline dips. Since it is not easy to extract conjugate points from linear powerlines, we exploited the epipolar lines acrossing the powerlines for 3D mapping of the powerlines and dip measurements. The vertical mapping accuracy estimated at two field-surveyed power line points was 15~16cm that are within 5% of deflection at the points and less than 3% of the powerline dip.

To determine 3D(three-dimensional) positions using a stereo-camera in close-range photogrammetry, camera calibration to determine not only the interior orientation parameters of each camera but also the relative orientation parameters between the cameras must be preceded. As time passes after performing camera calibration, in the case of non-metric cameras, the interior and relative orientation parameters may change due to internal instability or external factors. In this study, to evaluate the stability of the stereo-camera, not only the stability of two single cameras and a stereo-camera were analyzed, but also the three-dimensional position accuracy was evaluated using checkpoints. As a result of evaluating the stability of two single cameras through three camera calibration experiments over four months, the root mean square error was ±0.001mm, and the root mean square error of the stereo-camera was ±0.012mm ~ ±0.025mm, respectively. In addition, as the results of distance accuracy using the checkpoint were ±1mm, the interior and relative orientation parameters of the stereo-camera were considered stable over that period.
This study carried out a topographic survey at a small-scale open-pit limestone mine in Korea (the Daesung MDI Seoggyo office) using a popular rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV, Drone, DJI Phantom2 Vision+). 89 sheets of aerial photos could be obtained as a result of performing an automatic flight for 30 minutes under conditions of 100m altitude and 3m/s speed. A total of 34 million cloud points with X, Y, Z-coordinates was extracted from the aerial photos after data processing for correction and matching, then an orthomosaic image and digital surface model with 5m grid spacing could be generated. A comparison of the X, Y, Z-coordinates of 5 ground control points measured by differential global positioning system and those determined by UAV photogrammetry revealed that the root mean squared errors of X, Y, Z-coordinates were around 10cm. Therefore, it is expected that the popular rotary-wing UAV photogrammetry can be effectively utilized in small-scale open-pit mines as a technology that is able to replace or supplement existing topographic surveying equipments.
