Development of Surface Velocity Measurement Technique without Reference Points Using UAV Image (드론 정사영상을 이용한 무참조점 표면유속 산정 기법 개발)

  • Surface image velocimetry (SIV) is a noncontact velocimetry technique based on images. Recently, studies have been conducted on surface velocity measurements using drones to measure a wide range of velocities and discharges. However, when measuring the surface velocity using a drone, reference points must be included in the image for image correction and the calculation of the ground sample distance, which limits the flight altitude and shooting area of the drone. A technique for calculating the surface velocity that does not require reference points must be developed to maximize spatial freedom, which is the advantage of velocity measurements using drone images. In this study, a technique for calculating the surface velocity that uses only the drone position and the specifications of the drone-mounted camera, without reference points, was developed. To verify the developed surface velocity calculation technique, surface velocities were calculated at the Andong River Experiment Center and then measured with a FlowTracker. The surface velocities measured by conventional SIV using reference points and those calculated by the developed SIV method without reference points were compared. The results confirmed an average difference of approximately 4.70% from the velocity obtained by the conventional SIV and approximately 4.60% from the velocity measured by FlowTracker. The proposed technique can accurately measure the surface velocity using a drone regardless of the flight altitude, shooting area, and analysis area.

  • UTM is an air traffic management ecosystem under development for autonomously controlled operations of UAS by the FAA, NASA, other federal partner agencies, and industry. They are collaboratively exploring concepts of operation, data exchange requirements, and a supporting framework to enable multiple UAS operations beyond visual line-of-sight at altitudes under AGL 500ft in airspace where air traffic services are not provided. Minimum Safe Altitude is a generic expression, used in various cases to denote an altitude below which it is unsafe to fly owing to presence of terrain or obstacles. The European drone regulation mentions that the UAS is maintained within 120 metres from the closest point of the surface of the earth during flight, except when overflying an obstacle. This study attempted to develop a minimum flight altitude database system. Based on domestic and international rules and regulations on setting the minimum flight altitude it is expected that it can be applied to the operation of aircraft and unmanned aerial system in UTM environments for specific area in Korea.

  • Pressure sensors are usually used in the measurement of drone altitude in an indoor environment since GPS (global positioning system) signal is not available. In this paper, we propose a new method which uses the Chebyshev filter to decrease a high frequency error in the measured values of the pressure sensor. Considering performance of a drone flight controller, the filter order is limited to the $3^{rd}$ order. We explain the transfer function of the $3^{rd}$ order Chebyshev filter.

  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, drones) are becoming increasingly useful in a variety of fields. Advances in UAV and camera technology have made it possible to equip them with ultra-high resolution sensors and capture images at low altitudes, which has improved the reliability and classification accuracy of object identification on the ground. The distinctive contribution of this study is the derivation of sensor-specific performance metrics (GRD/GSD), which shows that as the GSD increases with altitude, the GRD value also increases. In this study, we identified the characteristics of various onboard sensors and analysed the image quality (discrimination resolution) of aerial photography results using UAVs, and calculated the shooting conditions to obtain the discrimination resolution required for reading ground objects.

  • 급증하고 있는 드론(무인항공기) 분야의 기술 개발과 보급이 활발해지는 효과의 반대급부로서 기존의 유인 항공기 운항의 안전이 위협받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 초경량/소형 드론이 비행하도록 지정된 저고도 공역에 대한 현 제도의 문제를 분석하고 드론의 비행 증가에 따른 항공안전을 확보하기 위한 저고도 공역 재설정을 포함한 공역 제도 개선 방안을 제안한다.

A Study on Development of Small Sensor Observation System Based on IoT Using Drone (드론을 활용한 IoT기반의 소형센서 관측시스템 개발 가능성에 대한 소고)

  • We developed a small sensor observation system (SSOS) at a relatively low cost to observe the atmospheric boundary layer. The accuracy of the SSOS sensor was compared with that of the automatic weather system (AWS) and meteorological tower at the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Comparisons between SSOS sensors and KMA sensors were carried out by dividing into ground and lower atmosphere. As a result of comparing the raw data of the SSOS sensor with the raw data of AWS and the observation tower by applying the root-mean-square-error to the error, the corresponding values were within the error tolerance range (KMA meteorological reference point: humidity ${\pm}5%$, atmospheric pressure ${\pm}0.5hPa$, temperature ${\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$. In the case of humidity, even if the altitude changed, it tends to be underestimated. In the case of temperature, when the altitude rose to 40 m above the ground, the value changed from underestimation to overestimation. However, it can be confirmed that the errors are within the KMA's permissible range after correction.

  • In this paper, we propose a case that drone (unmanned aerial vehicle), one of the representative technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, threatens airport safety and privacy infringement, and describes a drone control system proposal to solve the problem. Unmanned aerial vehicle (Drone) is creating a serious problem recently, In Korea, on May 21, 19, according to the Jeju Regional Aviation Administration, drones flew over Jeju Jeongseok Airfield twice in the same month, causing problems in aircraft operation. In overseas cases, two drones near the runway of Gatwick International Airport in the UK There has been a disturbance in which the takeoff and landing of the aircraft flies for a while, and various problems have occurred, such as voyeuring the private life of an individual using a drone. This paper is equipped with an Acess Point transponder mounted on a drone (unmanned aerial vehicle), and unspecified many who want to receive flight information (coordinates, altitude, and obstacles) of the drone access the drone AP, receive and receive the flight information of the drone, and receive unspecified multiple Drone AP flight information is collected and collected to provide the information of the drone currently floating on one user interface screen. In addition, an AP transponder is proposed to operate a safe drone (unmanned aerial vehicle) and the drone's flight information is transmitted., To receive and collect and collect data.

  • Effective management of ULD (Unit Load Device) in Air Cargo Transportation is one of the Airline's main concerns. At present, the way of management of ULD which has the ID tag based on RFID is carried by cargo control staff with PDA. However, the activity of ULD management is limitted due to complexity of cargo terminal facilities. In this study, we offer the effective way of management of ULD by the DRONE equipped by LED-ID & RFID READER at the higher altitude in Air Cargo Terminal to recover the difficulty of identification due to complexity of terminal facilities. Further to the above, we suggest the operational effectiveness, limitation, and the direction of future research.

  • Magnetic anomaly signals from the ferromagnetic targets such as ships in the sea are measured by drone-based magnetic anomaly detection. A quantum magnetometer is suspended from the drone by 4 strings. Flight altitude and speed of drone are 100 m and 5 m/s, respectively. We obtain magnetic anomaly signals of few nT from the ships clearly. We analyze the signal characteristics by the ferromagnetic target through simulation using COMSOL multiphysics.

  • As the era of the 4th industrial revolution comes, there is a growing interest in the use of UAVs. While various technologies are being developed using drones, controlling flight of drones is the most basic. Hovering control is essential in order to enable autonomous flight, especially during flight control of drones. In this paper, we design drones based on ATmega2560, Sonar, Optical Flow, and acceleration / gyro 6 axis sensor for drones hovering control, and developed horizontal control, altitude control, position tracking and fixed algorithm based on PID control. In this research, in order to measure the objective result of the drone, keeping the altitude immediately after the drone takes off according to the time, measure the movement value until the position is fixed and stable hovering is maintained and compared analyzed. Experimental results show that the drones can stably hover within 4cm horizontal and 2cm vertical from 50cm above the reference coordinates.
