Purpose : Recently, many researchers and golf coachers demonstrated that X-factor and X-factor stretch had a co-relationship with driving distance. However, its relationship is still controversial and ambiguous. Thus, the aim of this study was to examine the relationship among X-factor, X-factor stretch and swing-related factors, including driving distance in elite golfers. Method : Seventeen male elite golfers (handicap: ${\leq}4$) with no history of musculo-skeletal injuries participated in the study. Thirty spherical retro-reflective markers were placed on including the middle point of PSIS, the right/left ASIS, the right/left lateral acromion of the scapula, driver head and shaft grip. All motion capture data was collected at 100Hz using 6 infrared cameras. Carry distance, club speed, ball speed, smash factor, launch angle, and spin rate were collected from radar-based device, TrackMan. Results : Pearson's correlation coefficient method was used to find the correlations among X-factor, X-factor stretch and swing-related factors. Positive correlations between driving distance and other swing-related factors which include club speed(r=.798, p<.001), and ball speed(r=.948, p<.001) were observed. In contrast to the swing-related factors, X-factor and X-factor stretch had no relationship to driving distance. Conclusion : These results indicate that X-factor and X-factor stretch are not key regulators in driving distance.

We examined previous studies of the correlation analysis of heart rate variability as a method to reduce the stress caused by outside noise during driving, and we investigated whether there are electrocardiographic changes when drivers play music, which provides a stable sound source amid the noise. Because the number of cars increases every year, drivers and passengers show an increase in stress caused by outside noise. The stress from outside noise while a person is driving can cause several disorders, such as anxiety, immunosuppression, depression, and heart disease. Subjects in this study operated a vehicle simulator to reduce the stress from outside noise and were given different auditory stimuli, and we studied the drivers' responses to the stimuli. Repeated-measures analysis of variance revealed a significant differences between subjects exposed to different auditory stimuli (ρ < 0.05). Through post hoc analyses, we examined these differences. We found significant differences between factor 1 (stability) and factor 2 (simulation driving), between factor 1 (stability) and factor 3 (driving + police siren), and between factor 1 (stability) and factor 4 (driving + police siren + music). In addition, the factor that produced the highest level of sympathetic nervous system activity was factor 4 (driving + police siren + music), followed by factor 3 (driving + police siren), factor 2 (driving), and factor 1 (stability). In conclusion, even when a police siren was heard during driving, there were no significant differences on electrocardiograms (ECGs). In addition, even when the siren was heard over the music, there was no difference on the ECGs (ρ < 0.01). In future studies, investigators should determine which types of music help stabilize the heart rate during driving.
A driving simulator is a computer-controlled tool to study an interface between a driver and vehicle response by enabling the driver to participate in judging vehicle characteristics. Using the driving simulator, human factor study, vehicle system development and other research can be effectively done under controllable, reproducible and non-dangerous conditions. An Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system is generally regarded as a system that can be achieved in the near future without the demanding infrastructure components and technologies. ACC system is an automatic vehicle following system with no human engagement in the longitudinal vehicle direction. And the influence of the driver is substantial in developing the system. Driving characteristic is very different according to the accident riskiness, gender, age and so on. In this research, experiments have been carried out to investigate driving characteristics with the ACC system, using a driving simulator. Participants are 21 male and 19 female. Driving characteristics such as preferred headway-time, lane keeping ability, eye direction, and head movement have been observed and compared between the driving with ACC and the driving without ACC.

Driving simulators are used effectively for human factor study, vehicle system development and other purposes by enabling to reproduce actural driving conditions in a safe and tightly controlled enviornment. Interactive simulation requries appropriate sensory and stimulus cuing to the driver . Sensory and stimulus feedback can include visual , auditory, motion, and proprioceptive cues. A fixed-base driving simulator has been developed in this study for vehicle system developmnet and human factor study . The simulator consists of improved and synergistic subsystems (a real-time vehicle simulation system, a visual/audio system and a control force loading system) based on the motion -base simulator, KMU DS-Ⅰ developed for design and evaluation of a full-scale driving simulator and for driver-vehicle interaction.

This study has been focused on the selection of optimal electric motor load, which takes a lot of portions of motor driving factor in the building. Based on the past design data for existing electric motor load and method of calculation, it is known that in general electric machine load has been estimated excessively. For the accurate calculation, it is important apply to motor driving factor to be actually provided.

A simulation study was carried to analyze the vehicle fuel consumption on component basis. Experiments was also carried out to identify the simulation results, under FTP-75 Hot Phase driving conditions. and arbitrary driving conditions. A good quantitative agreement was obtained. Based on the simulation, fuel energy was used in pumping loss(3.7%), electric power generation(0.7%), engine friction(12.7%), engine inertia(0.7%), torque converter loss(4.6%), drivetrain friction(0.6%), road-load(9.2%), and vehicle inertia(13.4%) under FTP-75 Hot Phase driving conditions. Using simulation program, the effects of capacity factor and idle speed on fuel consumption were estimated. A increment of capacity factor of torque converter resulted in fuel consumption improvement under FTP-75 Hot Phase driving conditions. Effect of a decrement of idle speed on fuel consumption was negligible under the identical driving conditions.

For reappearance of driving perception in a driving simulator, a washout algorithm is required. This algorithm can reappear the vehicle driving motions within workspace of the driving simulator. However classical washout algorithm contains several problems such as selection of order, cut-off frequency of filters, generation of wrong motion cues by characteristics of filters, etc. In order to overcome these problems, this paper proposes a new washout algorithm which gives more accurate sensations to drivers. The algorithm consists of an artificial inclination of the motion plate and human perception model with band pass filter and dead zone. As a result of this study, the motion of a real car could be reappeared satisfactorily in the driving simulator and the workspace of motion plate is restrained without scaling factor.
This study examined how drivers of different cultural orientations(individualism vs. collectivism) attribute the cause(dispositional vs. situational) of four simulated driving situations which were varied in types(cutting-in and sudden-stop by the other driver) and differential emphasis on other the other driver's driving attitude or situational factor. The results showed the followings. First, the drivers generally showed higher attribution scores on the dispositional factor than the situational factor, except for the 'sudden-stop: situation emphasis' scenario condition. Second, when drivers' cultural orientation and attribution styles were considered together, it was found that, except for the 'cutting-in: disposition emphasis' scenario condition. the drivers of collectivism tended to attribute more to situational factor than the drivers of individualism, In contrast, the drivers of individualism showed higher attribution scores on dispositional factor than situational factor in all driving scenario conditions. Implication and suggestion were discussed.

This paper introduces a novel system-level framework that derives energy efficient electric vehicle (EV) driving speed profile to extend EV driving range without additional cost. This paper first implements an EV power train model considering forces acting on a driving vehicle and motor efficiency. Then, it derivate the minimum-energy driving speed profile for a given driving mission defined by the route. This framework first formulates an optimization problem and uses the dynamic programming algorithm with a weighting factor to derive a speed profile minimizing both of energy consumption and driving time. This paper introduces various weighting factor tracking methods to satisfy the driving time constraint. Simulation results show that runtime of the proposed scaling algorithm is 34% and 50% smaller than those of the binary search algorithm and greedy algorithm, respectively.

Measuring the torque of the wheel loader of a driving device is a preemptive task to ensure its performance. In this study, wireless torque measurements were successfully conducted. Moreover, based on the experimental results and the adopted design method, the key factor of torque generation, which is the main load in driving devices, was analyzed. Other data not analyzed in this paper will be the basis for the logical design of wheel loader-based driving devices.
