To provide reliable data for drift prediction models, field experiments were carried out in the coastal region off Busan port. Four different size of vessels(10, 30, 50, 90G/T ton) were deployed for the experiment. Among them G/T 50ton class vessel was equipped with instruments measuring the currents, winds, headings and trajectory data. In the rest of vessels only the position data were recorded for the purpose of target divergence study. The trajectories of each vessel were measured by DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) and collected by APRS(Automatic Position Reporting System). The experiment was done in wind of 2~10m/s and current of 0.5~1.5m/s. The leeway was derived by subtracting surface current velocity from target drifting velocity. The leeway rate of G/T 50ton vessel was found to be about 3.6% and the computed leeway speed equation was $U_L$=0.042 W - 0.034. The processed leeway angle data were deflected by $-30^{\circ}$~$40^{\circ}$ from the direction of ship drift.
Process and device simulations were performed to determine the optimal ion implantation conditions to prevent double snapback of high voltage operating DDDNMOS (double diffused drain N-type MOSFET) device for ESD protection. By examining the effects of HP-Well, N- drift and N+ drain ion implantation on the double snapback and avalanche breakdown voltages, it was possible to prevent double snapback and improve the electrostatic protection performance. If the ion implantation concentration of the N- drift region rather than the HP-Well region is optimally designed, it prevents the transition from the primary on-state to the secondary on-state, so that relatively good ESD protection performance can be obtained. Since the concentration of the N- drift region affects the leakage current and the avalanche breakdown voltage, in the case of a process technology with an operating voltage greater than 30V, a new structure such as DPS or colligation of optimal process conditions can be applied. In this case, improved ESD protection performance can be realized.
Chemical application, one of the most important crop management processes happened to cause spray drift, that would threaten farmers in field as well as dwellers in rural region. Spray drift was affected by micro-meteorological parameters. A study to evaluate short distance drift characteristics of a boom sprayer in paddy fields has been undergoing. This study is the first step of the research. Main purpose of the was conducted to develop a mean wind profile and to get information on turbulence intensities above and within rice canopy. Wind in rice paddy field were measured at every 10cm from 10 to 180cm above the ground using a 2-dimensional probe and a hot wire anemometer system. Main results were summarized as follows. 1. Mean wind profile was modeled as; Equations. see full-text 2. Roughness length and zero-displacement in rice canopy were analyzed to be respectively 0.04 and 0.7∼0.72 times of the canopy height. The values are smaller comparing to those of other crops because rice canopy is flexible and uniform comparing to other crops. 3. Turbulence intensities (Tl) was greater as close to the ground and became constant at heights greater than 1.5Hc. where Tl’s were 0.4 and 0.15 in horizontal and vertical direction respectively.
A state-of-the-art mechanistic model has been developed to accurately predict the void fraction in the subcooled boiling region having axial nonuniform heat flux. In this study, the void-dependent drift-flux parameters of the Lahey/Ohkawa model were introduced and the mass flux-dependent condensation coefficient were determined by fitting with the experimental data. This model was tested against several experimental data sets to verify its accuracy. Finally the comparison between the predicted void fraction profiles with this model and the profile-fit model for the hot assembly of Kori-Unit 1, Cycle 1 has been performed. It is conclusive that the results show the good agreement between the measured and predicted void fractions, and the profile-fit model has been found to underestimate the void fraction in the subcooled boiling region.

A survey on the fishing gear for octopus drift-line fishing was done in Gangwon-do, Sacheon, Gyeongnam and Hokkaido, Japan, while a survey on the environments of fishing grounds used data from January to August from the Korea east coast farming forecast system of Donghae Fisheries Research and Development Institute. The present situation of fishing was examined with boats engaging in drift-line fishing from March to August in the coastal waters along Gangneung. The fishing tackle for octopus drift-line fishing was made manually, and the size, shape, and weight of the hook and number of shooting used vary according to the fishing time and region. Lead is used as the material for sinkers. As bait, pork fat with skin is mostly used in Gangwon-do. The temperature of the bottom water layer in the coastal fishing ground of Gangneung from April to June ranges from $3.2-12.4^{\circ}C$, which is the optimal temperature for octopuses. During July and August, the temperature ranges from $5.0-20.6^{\circ}C$. The maximum difference between day and night temperatures reached up to $9.2^{\circ}C$. Salinity is generally stable at $33.2-35.324.6%_{\circ}$, which does not affect the inhabitation of octopuses. The octopus catch reached its peak from May to July, while most octopuses weighed less than 1 kg (76.7%). The results show that it is effective to carry out octopus drift-line fishing up to a depth of 40 meters; and that the maximum number of octopuses per line is obtained with an operation time of six hours.
Geosynchronous electron flux dropouts are most likely due to fast drift loss of the particles to the magnetopause (or equivalently, the "magnetopause shadowing effect"). A possible effect related to the drift loss is the radial diffusion of PSD due to gradient of PSD set by the drift loss effect at an outer L region. This possibly implies that the drift loss can affect the flux levels even inside the trapping boundary. We recently investigated the details of such diffusion process by solving the diffusion equation with a set of initial and boundary conditions set by the drift loss. Motivated by the simulation work, we have examined observationally the energy spectrum and pitch angle distribution near trapping boundary during the geosynchronous flux dropouts. For this work, we have first identified a list of geosynchronous flux dropout events for 2007-2010 from GOES satellite electron measurements and solar wind pressures observed by ACE satellite. We have then used the electron data from the Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms (THEMIS) spacecraft measurements to investigate the particle fluxes. The five THEMIS spacecraft sufficiently cover the inner magnetospheric regions near the equatorial plane and thus provide us with data of much higher spatial resolution. In this paper, we report the results of our investigations on the energy spectrum and pitch angle distribution near trapping boundary during the geosynchronous flux dropout events and discuss implications on the effects of the drift loss on the flux levels at inner L regions.
We explore how wave-particle interactions affect diffusive shock acceleration (DSA) at astrophysical shocks by performing time-dependent kinetic simulations, in which phenomenological models for magnetic field amplification (MFA), Alfv$\acute{e}$nic drift, thermal leakage injection, Bohm-like diffusion, and a free escape boundary are implemented. If the injection fraction of cosmic-ray (CR) particles is ${\xi}$ > $2{\times}10^{-4}$, for the shock parameters relevant for young supernova remnants, DSA is efficient enough to develop a significant shock precursor due to CR feedback, and magnetic field can be amplified up to a factor of 20 via CR streaming instability in the upstream region. If scattering centers drift with Alfv$\acute{e}$n speed in the amplified magnetic field, the CR energy spectrum can be steepened significantly and the acceleration efficiency is reduced. Nonlinear DSA with self-consistent MFA and Alfv$\acute{e}$nic drift predicts that the postshock CR pressure saturates roughly at ~10 % of the shock ram pressure for strong shocks with a sonic Mach number ranging $20{\leq}M_s{\leq}100$. Since the amplified magnetic field follows the flow modification in the precursor, the low energy end of the particle spectrum is softened much more than the high energy end. As a result, the concave curvature in the energy spectra does not disappear entirely even with the help of Alfv$\acute{e}$nic drift. For shocks with a moderate Alfv$\acute{e}$n Mach number ($M_A$ < 10), the accelerated CR spectrum can become as steep as $E^{-2.1}$ - $E^{-2.3}$, which is more consistent with the observed CR spectrum and gamma-ray photon spectrum of several young supernova remnants.

To clarify the dispersion of pollutants introduced in the coastal region, a series of current measurements, the drogue and drift bottle experiments as well as the dye diffusion experiments were carried out in Onsan Bay and in the coastal waters of Ubong-ri near Ulsan. In the southeastern coastal region of Korean peninsula, that is, in the outside of Onsan Bay, the flood tidal current flows south-south-westward, and the ebb current flows north-north-eastward at a maximum speed of 1.0-1.1 knots at spring tide. In an inlet south of Cape Ubong, an anticyclonic eddy of 1 km in diameter is usually formed during both flood and ebb flows. The tidal current predominates in Onsan Bay at around spring tide. The maximum speed around spring tide was observed to be approximately 0.14 knot, while it was slower than 0.1 knot and variable at neap tide when the wind drift current played an important role. The flood tidal current flows westward while the ebb flow flows eastward in the northern region of the bay. The flood tidal current in the southern region of the bay flows west-north-westward, while the ebb current east-north-eastward. Wind drift currents in the coastal region of southern Korea are generally deduced to be southward in winter, the monthly mean speed being approximately 0.1 knot. Dye solution released at the northwestern corner in Onsan Bay was transported by eastward ebb tidal current toward the mouth of the bay dispersing by the wind. The apparent diffusion coefficient at 150 minutes after release in the bay was calculated to be $4.4\times10^4\;cm^2.sec^{-1}$, whereas that in the anticyclonic eddy was more or less smaller.
