Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report on the treatment of wound dressing in patients with diabetic foot ulcers in the dermatology clinic of Korean medicine. Methods : First, sufficient marginal resection of the ulcer and necrotic tissue on the foot of a patient with diabetic peripheral neuropathy was performed. Inflammation was treated with Anti-inflammatory pharmacopuncture solution, and dressings were applied for one month using Cornu Cervi Parvum pharmacopuncture solution, and Haeboo ointment for granulation tissue formation and skin regeneration. Results : After 10 days of the treatment, the formation of new granulation tissue was observed in the necrotic tissue area, and the extent of the lesion decreased sharply from the 14th day. On the 40th day, epithelialization progressed so that the treatment was terminated, and complete keratinization of the site was observed at follow-up 3 weeks after the end of the treatment. Conclusions : In the treatment of wound dressings in diabetic foot ulcer patients, marginal resection treatment with the application of pharmacopuncture solution and herbal ointment showed good effect.
Purpose: The biggest problem of wound healing is a possible occurrence of lesion. Especially, in the case of patients who have a skin injury around exposed body parts, if their treatment period drag on for long time, they can suffer from aftereffects and the costs can be passed on to a society. Therefore, in this research, we investigated the need to develop the effective medicine and appliances for the patients by examining which therapy methods are being applying to the skin damage and what is the advantage and limit by evaluating the patient's satisfaction level. Methods: We carried out an online and offline survey targeting medical teams in order to analyze device for wound care. A total of 125 medical teams applied to the research, and investigate the level of customer satisfaction. Results: The moist dressings are the most used method for wound healing. When it comes to the level of customer satisfaction, biological dressing product also has a high satisfaction level. However its high cost tends to limit the use. Conclusion: This research reached a conclusion that it is need to develop a low cost and high efficiency wound care product considering the fact that its high cost and low efficiency induced economic problems. Generally, it is needed to develop a product for skin regeneration based on biological technologies, not a product just for damage cure.
There are many different approaches to healing of acute and chronic ulcer and large skin defect, such as burn. Currently available wound covers fall into two categories. Permanent covering, such as autografts, and temporary ones, such as allograft including de-epidermized cadaver skin, bioartificial skin, xenografts, and synthetic dressings. Autologous skin grafting in the form of split- or full-thickness skin is still the good standard. Following on from developments in the 1980s involving the use of cultured keratinocyte grafts in wound healing, the last decade has been great progress in the fabrication of composite bioartificial skin grafts. However, two bottleneck on producing cultured bioartificial skin, whether of the simple epithelial cell sheet type, or the more complex composite type, continue to be the generation of sufficient keratinocytes cheaply and quickly and develop biocompatible dermal scaffolds. This article covers the development, clinical application, and current research directions associated with bioartificial skin.
Vacuum-assisted wound healing has been proven to be more efficacious than conventional dressings. Vacuum dressing has been frequently modified given the restrictions in resources available. Here we present a modified method of vacuum dressing by using surgical or gynaecological gloves for lower and upper limb wounds. Vacuum dressing was applied with parts of a surgical or gynaecological glove and Opsite with T-tailing of the suction outlet. Vacuum-assisted wound healing using the surgical gloves showed relatively good wound healing in the amputation stump, finger, arm, and leg in the cases studied.
Treatment towards wound healing, a complex and dynamic process, has been given a great deal of efforts in the last few decades. Focus has been imposed on developing wound dressings that meet the requirements for proper wound healing. In this study, hydrogel made from blends of poly (vinyl alcohol) and ${\beta}$-1,6-branched-${\beta}$-1,3-glucan (beta-glucan) were synthesized by modified solvent casting method for wound dressing application. Optimization of hydrogel composition and analysis of wound dressing parameters such as stability and fluid uptake capacity (in the presence of water, saline and different pH solutions) has been studied. The result indicated that the PVA/beta-glucan hydrogel hold its structural integrity even at alkaline pH (pH~9) and upholds fluids four times of its original weight. Thus, the developed hydrogel is expected to be a promising candidate as wound dressing.

Silk sericin, a natural protein from silkworm cocoons, is emerging as a multifunctional biomaterial in biomedicine, particularly in tissue engineering and wound healing. Recent studies have highlighted its biocompatibility, biodegradability, and potential for chemical modification, which allows it to be incorporated into various scaffold architectures. This review article synthesizes current research, including the development of sericin-based hydrogel scaffolds for tissue engineering and sericin's role in enhancing wound healing. Key findings demonstrate sericin's ability to refine scaffold porosity and mechanical strength, expedite tissue healing, and reduce bacterial load in wounds. The integration of sericin into novel bioactive dressings and its use in peripheral nerve injury repair are also discussed, showcasing its adaptability and efficacy. The convergence of these studies illustrates the broad applications of sericin, from scaffold design to clinical interventions, making it a promising material in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, with the potential to improve patient outcomes significantly.
Since they were introduced by Ward in 1923, periodontal dressing have been routinely used following the periodontal surgery to avoid pain, infection, desensitizing teeth, inhibiting food impaction of the surgical areas, and immobilizing injured areas. Recently, however, the value of periodontal dressings and their effects on periodontal wound healing have been questioned, several authors have been reported that the use of dressing has little influence on healing following periodontal surgical procedures. In addition, there is evidence that when good flap adaptation is achieved, the use of a periodontal dressing does not add to patient comfort nor promote healing. The purpose of this study was to evaluate patient postoperative pain experience and discomfort with and without the use of periodontal dressing following periodontal surgery. Twenty-eight patients, 11 male and 17 female. were selected for this study; The age range was 31 to 56, with an average of 40.2years. Patient selection was based on existence of two bilateral sites presenting similar periodontal involvement, as determined by clinical and radiographic assessment, and requiring comparable bilateral surgical procedures. Using a splitmouth dressing. one site received a periodontal dressing while the other site did not. Pain assessment was made according to a horizontal, rating scale(0-10). After at least a two-week period, the second surgical precedure was performed using the alternate postoperative treatment. At the conclusion of the trial, a self-administered questionnaire on postoperative experience was administered, and were asked of their preference of either, dressed or undressed. The results were as follows: 1. A similar trend for mean pain and discomfort scores as assessed by patients both dressed and salinetreated procedures was evident during 7-day postsurgical period. 2. Statistical analysis of differences between the dressed side and salinetreated side with respect to pain, discomfort and patient's experiences revealed that both treatment sides behaved similarly at any postoperative day(P>0.05). 3. Considering the patient's preference, on the basis of pain and discomfort experienced, 43% preferred the saline-mouthwash and 32% preferred the dressing, 25% showing no preference for either the dressing or the saline-mouthwash. There is evidence to support the use of a periodontal dressing in retention of an apically positioned flap by preventing coronal displacement, or its use to provide additional support to stabilize a free gingival graft. However, there will always be a use for periodontal dressing although routine use of dressings may decrease because of better surgical techniques and the use of antibacterial mouth rinses.

This study evaluated the quality characteristics and antioxidant activities of salad dressings prepared with wild grape powder (1%, 2%, 3%, and 5%) during storage at $5^{\circ}C$ for 4 weeks as well as sensory evaluation. The viscosity and pH decreased with increasing amounts of wild grape powder as well as increasing storage time. Moisture contents significantly decreased with increasing amounts of wild grape powder. The water activity of the control was higher than other samples at $0.924A_w$. The samples with wild grape powder showed lower water activities than the control at $0.902{\sim}0.912A_w$ after 4 weeks. For color, lightness and yellowness significantly decreased with increasing amounts of wild grape powder, whereas redness increased. Antioxidant activity, total polyphenol content, DPPH radical scavenging activity, and ABTS radical scavenging activity significantly increased with increasing amounts of wild grape powder but decreased with increasing storage time. In the sensory evaluation, the color preference was highest in the control. Flavor and texture preference were highest in the 2% sample. For overall acceptability, the 1% sample scored 5.71, which was highest among the samples. Based on the above study results, the optimum level of wild grape powder for production of salad dressing is 2%.

Purpose: Many topical agents had been used for burn or wound treatment. An awareness of topical agents on various aspects of wound healing permits the clinician to choose the most appropriate material to advantageously control the wound process and final results. Although polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) was used as a tissue repair stimulating agent in a number of human diseases, such as ulcers and burns, its wound healing effects were largely unreported. We aimed to compare the woundhealing effects of PDRN and common dressing materials on full-thickness skin defect in the mouse. Methods: Full-thickness skin defects were made on the back of mice (N=60). The mice were divided into the following 4 groups according to the dressing used for the wounds: group O (Polydeoxyribonucleotide cream), group I (Polydeoxyribonucleotide solution), group M (Medifoam$^{(R)}$), and group G (dry gauze, control group). We analyzed the gross findings, wound sizes and histological findings for the groups. Results: The rate of wound size was decreased in order of group I, group O, group M and group G. The histological findings revealed that the I group showed more reepithelialization and granulation tissue formation and less inflammatory cell infiltration than the other materials. The grade score of wound healing was increased in order of group I, group O, group M and group G. Conclusion: PDRN applicated wound dressings can be used for treating a full-thickness skin defect wounds. Considering its superior efficacy in comparison to the efficacies of other wound dressings, PDRN soaked gauze dressing should be preferentially used for the treatment of fullthickness skin wounds.
This study aimed to determine the physicochemical and sensory qualities for yogurt dressing prepared with blueberry juice(0, 10, 15, 20, and 25%). As the amount of added blueberry juice increased, citric acid, malic acid and succinic acid contents increased, but tartaric acid, lactic acid and acetic acid contents decreased. The pH of control group(3.75) was higher than that of the others(3.68-3.48). Sweetness of yogurt dressings decreased as the amount of added blueberry juice increased. DPPH radical scavenging activity of the control group was 26.44%, whereas those of yogurt dressings with blueberry juice ranged from 63.16-87.46%. Color L and b values decreased significantly, whereas a value increased significantly by addition of blueberry juice. Viscosity of the control group was lower than those of the others. The sensory property results showed that yogurt dressing with 20% blueberry juice was rated best. It was also preferred most. These results suggest 20% of blueberry juice is the best substitution ratio for yogurt dressing.
