본 연구는 크리스토의 작업을 사례로 하여 환경디자인에 있어서 공간연출의 의미와 그 형태를 다루고 있다. 환경디자인에 있어서 공간연출의 역할은 매우 중요하지만 구체적으로 어떤 형식을 다루기는 힘들다. 특히 이러한 측면에서 발생하는 환경예술과 디자인의 영역의 구분 역시 매우 모호하다. 이에 여기에서는 크리스토의 작품을 사례로 하여 적용되는 공간연출의 형식을 살펴보고 환경디자인에 있어 필요한 방법으로 적용하고자 한다. 크리스토의 작업은 크게 3가지로 구분될 수 있는데, 환경포장, 환경설치, 환경분할이다. 여기에서 사용된 공간연출방식은 연극적이며, 과정-참여적이며, 장소성이 강조됨과 동시에 다양한 오브제를 활용방식으로 정리할 수 있다. 그의 작업에서 나타난 환경적 오브제연출, 상황으로서의 공간연출이나 공간연출을 구조화하는 방식은 환경디자인에 있어서 매우 유효하며 아울러 그에 대한 새로운 미학적 가치평가가 가능해진다. 이러한 크리스토의 작업을 통해서 유추해낼 수 있는 공간연출의 방식은 환경디자인의 작업과정에 있어서 매우 유효할 것으로 생각된다.

본 논문은 현대도예의 다양한 양식 중에서도 도자의 가장 대표적인 조형이자 형태라 할 기물(器物)에 관심을 두고, 모더니즘 도자에 주목하여 그 조형적 특성과 제작의 구체적 사례에 관한 연구 목적을 배경으로 하고 있다. 특히 루시 리(Lucie Rie)는 20세기 전반에 대학교육과 근대 조형의 이념에 영향 받아 출현한 현대적 의미의 개인 도예가로서 그녀의 도자기에 담긴 현대성은 많은 도예가들에게 큰 영향을 주었다. 또한 현대도예사의 맥락에서 그녀는 개인작가적 공예가에 의한 이른바 studio pottery의 탄생을 주도한 작가로서 연구될 필요성이 높다. 이처럼 현대도예의 근대적 고찰에 의한 미학적 조형적 담론의 한 중요한 작가로서 루시 리의 활동과 작품의 연구는 소재와 기술에 의한 공예적 조형의 특질을 보다 선명히 드러내는 효과가 있을 것이다. 이와 같은 시각에서 본 논문은, 20세기의 모더니즘 기(器)의 선구적 도예가인 루시 리에 대한 작품 활동과 작품 제작의 특성 분석을 고찰한 것이다. 본문에서는 그녀의 조형에 영향을 끼친 20세기 전반기의 유럽의 모더니즘을 배경으로 작품활동의 시대별 구분과 양식상의 특성을 고찰하였다. 더불어 루시 리의 작품에 구사된 도자 기술과 기법을 실증적으로 분석하여 해당 작품과 그 제작 과정에 대한 구체적인 이해를 도모하였다.

As Oedipa Mass, the heroine of Thomas Pynchon's The Crying of Lot 49, is apparently associated with Oedipus, the hero in Sophocles' tragedy, this paper aims to show some of their similarities in quest theme and plot development as well as in the use of dramatic irony. Oedipus the King opens with a priest's pleas to relieve the Theban people from a plague and the king's promise to rid its cause by avenging the murder of the former king, as told by the oracle. Lot 49 begins as a Los Angeles law firm informs Oedipa that she is named as the executrix in her former lover Inverarity's will to sort out the mogul's estate. Ironically, however, Oedipus' investigation reveals himself to be the very cause of the national disaster, the murderer for whom he searched. Likewise, Oedipa starts her inquiry dedicating herself to make sense out of what Inverarity had left behind, only to find that the legacy was America. Sophocles and Pynchon both employ dramatic irony to provide a controlling principle for plot development in their works. In Oedipus the King, Sophocles creates mounting tension as well as distance between the reader's knowledge and the protagonist's ignorance, compressing the play's action into the moment that Oedipus discovers his real identity. For dramatic irony, however, Pynchon tends to work through authorial comments and utilize allegorical meanings of the characters' names, directing his novel at illuminating Oedipa's discovery of Inverarity's legacy as well as the meaning of Tristero, an underground postal service system. Unlike Oedipus the King that proceeds on a single line of action, Lot 49 develops in esoteric, multi-layered allusions and intricately-interrelated double strains involving Oedipa's roles as executrix and quester. At the end of Sophocles' tragedy, Oedipus stabs his eyes and decides to live in exile, realizing that, blinded, he begot his children through his mother; Oedipa comes to a painful realization that she allowed her former lover to create death-orienting America without her diversity and moral system in old times. As Oedipa now discovers herself through her search for Tristero, her tragic spirit lies in her determination to confront her binary choices between two Americas: transcendence or entropy, the Tristero possibility or Inverarity's America. Ultimately, Oedipa tries to find who will be the bidder for the Tristero forged stamps designated as lot 49, awaiting the auctioneer's cry and the "crying" of a new-born America.

As extremes of climate such as heavy storms, rainfalls, and droughts tend to be routine in recent years, global climate change becomes a serious concern not only for natural scientists but also for scholars of the human sciences. Efforts to tackle the anthropogenic climate change certainly require not only scientific knowledge about it but also a new sociocultural paradigm for valorizing and respecting nature in its own right. The huge casualties and mass destruction caused by recent climate disasters also remind us that nature has been an important factor to bring about changes in human history-a fact largely ignored in traditional history. This again validates the ecocritical request to prioritize place, physical setting, or the relationship characters hold with the natural world in understanding literary works. In this context this paper aims to demonstrate the importance of the meteorological vision in creating as well as understanding literary and cultural texts by examining such works as Shelley's "The Cloud," Byron's "Darkness," Keats's "To Autumn," all produced during the period of dramatic climate change including "the year without summer." It also briefly discusses Roland Emmerich's 2004 movie The Day after Tomorrow as a way of understanding recent cultural responses to the crisis of global warming.

This paper analyses the effect of social atmosphere on fashion model image with a study on two Periods, 1960s and 1990s. To be specific, we focus on two fashion models, Twiggy and Kate Moss who were famous in the late 60s and the early 90s respectively. We also study the works of Mary Quant and Calvin Klein in order to understand Twigg9y '||'&'||' Moss syndromes. Thee "waif" image which is usually associated with those uncared, homeless, pitiful, and immature is commonly found in Twiggy and Moss. It is argued that this dramatic change of image, that is, from a confident, mature one to the opposite, is strongly influenced by economic recession and a concomitant increase of social tension and pessimistic and decadent attitude.e.

It is well-known that Electro-rheological(ER) fluid is a material(suspension) which shows the dramatic change of rheological properties under an electric field. Using these properties, the concept that variable apparent viscosity of ER fluid could be applicable to the polishing for micro parts was introduced. It was investigated that how it works for polishing and how it affects ER effect when abrasives were mixed with an ER fluid. Therefore a few structures for polishing using ER fluid was suggested and evaluated by means of experiments. In this paper, fundamental mechanism and experimental results are described.

현재는 범용적 다기능을 갖추었던 PC 시대가 지나가고, 새로운 형태의 컴퓨팅 디바이스들이 고안되어 개발되고 있다. 이러한 현상은 모든 기능을 갖춘 무거운 PC 보다는 사용 빈도가 높은 필수 기능만을 탑재할 새로운 개념의 단말기에 대한 소비자의 요구가 증대되고 있기 때문이다. 본 과제에서는 오픈소스 라이센스와 강력한 개발자 그룹을 가진 리눅스를 사용하였다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 응용 분야에서 이용될 수 있는 Post-PC 플랫폼의 실제 설계, 구현에 대하여 기술하였으며, 실제적인 개발 사례로서 “디지털 가전형 Post-PC 기술 개발 사업”을 설명하였다. 본 논문은 제 4 과제인 “디지털 가전용 Post-PC 시스템 통합 플랫폼 개발과 Test bed 구축 및 통합 시험 기술”을 중점적으로 개발 내용을 서술하였다.

The purpose of this study is to present important guidelines for effective eye-shadow color coordination according to T.P.O. such as 'Day time to Night', 'Special Occasions', 'Holiday Accents', 'Seasonal Looks' and 'Animated Characters'. The method is as follows; This study examined the 100 works of her published in the?500 EYE MAKEUP DESIGNS?. For this research analysis, three specialists selected a total of 100 photo-works through 3 rounds of evaluation. This study analysis was conducted based on the colors and tones of eye-shadows identified under Munsell's basic color chart. The study findings are as follows; First, 'Day time to Night' was found to have similarity coloration most frequently, presenting a more stable look in the Natural makeup. Second, 'Special Occasions' showed similarity, accent, and complex colorations mainly. Third, 'Holiday Accents' showed diverse types of colorations such as accent, complex, similarity and contrast. Forth, 'Seasonal Looks' was found to use a variety of colorations including similarity, contrast, accent, gradation and complex. Fifth, 'Animated Characters' showed contrast coloration the most for dramatic effect along with accent and complex colorations to give a unique and symbolic look. The color scheme database(DB) obtained in this study will be present important guidelines for future in eye-shadow makeup design.

1984년 맥킨토시 컴퓨터의 출현으로 타이포그래피 디자인의 환경이 디지털 환경으로 바뀐 지 아직 20년이 채 되지 않지만 타이포그래피는 역사상 어느 시기보다 빠르게 변화하여 왔다. 하루가 다르게 발전하는 디지털 기술을 바탕으로 디자인 작업에 소요되는 시간과 노력이 절감되었을 뿐 아니라 2차원의 한정된 지면에 시간과 공간 개념이 결합되면서 타이포그래피는 새로운 도전을 시도하고 있다. 그러나 한편 무분별한 디지털기술의 남용으로 독창성 부재나 수준이 떨어지는 작업들이 쏟아져 나오는 부작용도 나타나고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 기술적 혁신에 따른 타이포그래피의 변천 과정과 현황, 그리고 디지털 타이포그래피의 새로운 가능성을 실험해온 디자이너들의 작업을 통하여 급변하는 디지털 환경에서 타이포그래피가 나가야 할 발전 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 디지털 타이포그래피의 창의적인 발전은 타이포그래피의 역사적 유산을 바탕으로 최대의 장점과 가치를 계승하고 디지털매체의 기술적 특성을 살려 새로운 가능성에 대한 실험을 계속할 때 가능할 것이다.

There has been a dramatic increase in the popularity of utilizing social media data for research purposes within the biomedical community. In PubMed alone, there have been nearly 2,500 publication entries since 2014 that deal with analyzing social media data from Twitter and Reddit. However, the vast majority of those works do not share their code or data for replicating their studies. With minimal exceptions, the few that do, place the burden on the researcher to figure out how to fetch the data, how to best format their data, and how to create automatic and manual annotations on the acquired data. In order to address this pressing issue, we introduce the Social Media Mining Toolkit (SMMT), a suite of tools aimed to encapsulate the cumbersome details of acquiring, preprocessing, annotating and standardizing social media data. The purpose of our toolkit is for researchers to focus on answering research questions, and not the technical aspects of using social media data. By using a standard toolkit, researchers will be able to acquire, use, and release data in a consistent way that is transparent for everybody using the toolkit, hence, simplifying research reproducibility and accessibility in the social media domain.
