A Basic Study to Measure the Effectiveness of the Korean Green Building Certification System in Terms of Sustainability

  • Humanity is facing a number of serious issues associated with increased energy consumption and environmental pollution. Various studies/guidelines concerning sustainable building construction have suggested solutions to these disastrous problems, including: net-zero energy buildings, the green building certification system, and others. Sustainability pursues three expected effects: environmental, social, and economic merits. Korean Green Building Council (K-GBC) has also announced the Korean Green Building Certification System (K-GBCS) since 2003 based on sustainability. Some positive social and environmental aspects of the K-GBCS have already been reported. However, it is somewhat difficult to verify its economic merits, which are crucial to ensuring the validity of the K-GBCS. This research aims to verify the economic merits of the eco-friendly Korean-style condominiums accredited by K-GBCS. Following this, the expected economic effectiveness of K-GBCS will be examined in terms of sustainability. The underlying assumption is that the potential economic effect should reflect the actual economic merits, and should reflect the value of the housing in particular. According to the analysis of the variance, it can be concluded the value of green certified buildings is statistically higher than the value of non-certified buildings. Furthermore, it was also observed that this tendency was more dominant in Gyeonggi Province than in the City of Seoul. This may be caused by one of the variables: the proximity to downtown. In future studies, this variable should be studied in greater detail.

소규모 염색공장 폐수의 처리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Treatment of Wastewater from Small-scale dyehouse)

  • This study was conducted to understand characteristics of wastewater which is discharged from small-scale dyehouse located in Seoul downtown area and to Find the appliable treatment method on the spot. The results of this study were summarized as followings. 1. The method which is used at present is mostly flocculation by coagulant or fenton oxidation. But the treatment efficiency of them are not good. 2. The results of fenton oxidation experiment demonstrated that treatment efficiency of COD was limited, which showed the need of the additional process or the improvement of existing treatment method, while the color was reduced considerably in optimal condition. 3. The optimal condition of fenton oxidation are as followings. -Feasible pH was in the 3∼4 regardless of the kinds of iron ions, But the fluctuation of treatment efficiency with the change of pH was small - The mass ratio of H$_2$O/CODcr was used to evaluate the parameter of H$_2$O$_2$ The optimal range of this was in 0.7∼1,3 and it was observed that the ratio got higher as the quality got worse. -For iron ion, FeCl$_2$4H$_2$O turned out to be more effective for removal of color compared with was compared FeSO$_4$7H$_2$Oin. the mass ratio of Fe/H$_2$O$_2$ of 2.3∼2.8 for of FeSO$_4$7H$_2$O and 1.6∼1.8 for FeCl$_2$4H$_2$O resulted in good treatment efficiencies. 4. With adsorption process applied before fenton oxidation in order to treat the high concentration wastewater, the treatment efficiency increased by 61% in CODcr, 55% in color. and if the power activated carbon is injected in more than 2500mg/$\ell$, the wastewater can be treated within the effluent quality criteria.

18·19세기 한양도성(漢陽都城) 안 궁묘(宮廟)의 입지와 위상 (The Location and Topology of the 'Gungmyo' in Hanyang Doseong during the 18th and 19th Century)

  • This study was aimed at analyzing the location and topology of the 'Gungmyo(宮廟)' and in Hanyang Doseong(漢陽都城) during 18th and 19th century. Based on the changes of royal processions(行幸) which had been done between the Gungmyo and the Palace, the Gungmyo can be a barometer of cognition where the city center was. Hanyang Doseong was the the capital of Joseon(朝鮮) which had established by king Taejo(太祖). The city had been organized with Gyeongbok-gung(景福宮) as the center. However, after the Imjin War(1592), Gyeongbok-gung was destroyed and urban space was reorganized with Changduk-gung(昌德宮) which reconstructed first. As most kings in late Joseon dynasty had mainly stayed in Changduk-gung, lots of Gungmyos where a memorial service for king's relatives had been held were established in and around the palace and the frequency of visiting the Gungmyo varied by political purpose. Therefore, the location of the Gungmyo and the rounte of parade were important to impress on the center of urban space. In 18th century, lots of King's procession had been done with Changduk-gung as departure point. The king used to start from Donwha-mun(敦化門), and the routes included main street around Changduk-gung. It shows that the urban center focused on the east of the city. On the other hand, when the king lived in Kyeonghee-gung(慶熙宮), a secondary palace in late Joseon dynasty, the parade started from Hungwha-mun(興化門) and the urban center was expended to the west. Since Gyeongbok-gung had reconstructed in 1865, recognition scheme of urban space had changed from Changduk-gung to Gyeongbok-gung as the center. When the Gungmyo relocated western side of Gyeongbok-gung, spatial proximity of the palace and relation with facilities around downtown fed into changing the route of king's parade.

고령운전자의 도시부 교차로 주행특성 분석에 관한 연구 (Analyzing the Driving Characteristics of Elderly Drivers at Urban Intersections)

  • PURPOSES : Because elderly drivers are more prone to becoming confused when approaching an urban intersection and thus may yield prolong judgment and decision times than non-elderly drivers, to increase the comfort and safety of the intersection environment for elderly drivers, this study applied autonomous driving tests at an urban intersection to examine their driving characteristics. METHODS : To obtain a more comprehensive understanding of driving features, this study collected drive data of non-elderly drivers and elderly drivers via an autonomous experiment using OBD2 and an eye-tracker, in addition to performing a literature review on the measured visibility range of elderly drivers at intersections. This literature review was conducted considering the general knowledge of elderly drivers having relatively reduced visibility. Additionally, as they are commonly more vulnerable, this study analyzes characteristics of elderly drivers as compared to those of non-elderly drivers. CONCLUSIONS : The results of this study can be summarized as follows: 1) the peripheral visible distance of elderly drivers is reduced as compared to that of non-elderly drivers; 2) elderly drivers approach and proceed through intersections at slower speeds than non-elderly drivers; and 3) elderly drivers yield increased driving distances when performing a right or left turn as compared to non-elderly drivers as a result of their reduced speed and acceleration and larger turning radii relative to non-elderly drivers.

터널구조물 유지관리계측의 개선방안 연구 (A Study on the Improvement Plans of Maintenance Monitoring in Tunnel Structure)

  • 연구목적: 터널구조물 유지관리계측의 현장점검 결과를 분석하여 개선방안을 제시한다. 연구방법: 도심지에서 건설되고 있는 서울지하철◯호선 14개 공구의 터널구조물을 대상으로 유지관리계측에 대한 다양한 항목의 문제점을 조사하고 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 유지관리 계측 항목과 계측수량 및 설치위치는 개착터널과 굴착터널로 구분하여 개선방안을 제시하였다. 계측기기의 내구연한은 각종 기준을 검토하였고, 내구성 확인방법은 계측센서의 승인 및 검수, 검사 및 시험, 검정 및 교정 등의 개선방안을 제시하였다. 결론: 터널구조물 유지관리계측의 개선방안을 건설현장에 적용하면 유지관리계측의 효율성이 증대되고 건설계측 기술발전에 기여할 것이다.

한·중 대학생의 주의식과 공간사용방식 비교연구 (A Comparative Study of Housing Consciousness and Space Usage between Korean and Chinese College Students)

  • Housing can be defined as the vessel containing human life and each country has considerably different form and culture of it. This study aims to understand the society's common cultural values of house selection, decision making, an various housing issues. Consequently, applying a multidisciplinary approach, this project seeks to explore the correlations between people and housing, and between society and housing, to better understand the thought and culture of the housing residents. In order for doing it, adopting cultural value of housing as a tool, a comparative cultural study of housing values in East Asia starting from Korea and China will be conducted. Through such a comparative cultural study, it will be ultimately possible to grasp the locality and uniqueness of specific cultures with more clarity. A survey using questionnaire was conducted on 126 Korean Students and 145 Chinese students who are studying at K University in Seoul on a random sampling basis. The results of survey are as follow. Both Korean and Chinese college students gave higher values on neighborhood environment, convenience of transportation, privacy and safety, and to be given a higher value. On the other hand, they gave lower values on the symbolism of social status. Korean university college students gave higher considerations in the list of , , and than Chinese. Chinese college students gave higher consideration in the list of , and than Koreans. Even though this study has some limitations in generalizing the findings, we can understand the identity of Koreans and Chinese through the comparative study.

상업 시설의 주차공간을 활용한 생활밀착형 전기차 충전 서비스 디자인 (Designing a Daily Routine Charging Service at Commercial Sites for Electric Vehicle Users)

  • 전 세계적으로 전기차 판매가 급속도로 증가하고 있으며 이로 인해 환경오염물질 배출(CO2, 질산화물 등)을 줄이는 데 큰 도움이 되고 있다. 하지만 일반적으로 전기차 충전기는 비즈니스 지구 및 주택 지구등을 포함하는 도심 지역에 설치되어 있기에 교외에 거주하는 전기차 사용자들은 정기적 충전 루틴을 확립하기가 매우 어려운 상황이다. 상황 개선을 위해 국내 거주 전기차 사용자들이 손쉽게 접근할 수 있는 거리 범위 내에 위치한 편의점 및 식당(주차장을 보유한) 등과 연계한 생활 밀착형 전기차 충전 서비스를 제안하였다. 사람들이 카페나 식당에서 짬짬이 스마트폰을 충전하는 것처럼 쇼핑과 식사를 하면서 전기차를 충전할 수 있도록 하는 것이 본 서비스가 지향하는 목표이다. 전기차의 충전과 유지보수에 관한 현재 사용자의 니즈를 파악하기 위해 유저 다이어리 연구와 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 연구를 진행하였고, 그 결과를 본 서비스 디자인 개발과정에 적용하였다. 추가적으로 본 서비스가 타게팅하는 상업시설에 손쉽게 설치할 수 있도록 디자인된 두 가지 유형의 충전 장치인 벽걸이형 스마트 소켓 및 폴형 스마트 소켓장치를 설계 및 제작하였다.

현륭원(顯隆園)의 입지선정과 원침계획에서 정조(正祖)의 역할 (King Jeongjo's Role in Selecting the Site and Planning the Tomb of Hyeonryungwon)

  • Hyeunryungwon is a tomb for Crown Prince Sado, who was the father of King Jeongjo, the twenty second king of Joseon dynasty. The tomb had been originally in the Eastern part of Seoul, but was relocated in 1789 to the downtown Suwon, which was renowned as a good tomb site among the Royal family at that time. King Jeongjo looked through the records from the previous generations for the ideal location and direction for the tomb. He personally studied Feng Shui theory and designated its location and direction. He ordered for lavish decorations for the stone adornments of the surroundings of the grave mound, which was against the regulations of the royal family. He found his reasons in the precedent that allowed sumptuous decoration. However, for the arrangements of Jeongjagahk(T shaped building) and other attached facilities, he made unusual choice that other precedent royal tombs did not have. Instead of following the conventions that Jeongjagak should be facing south of a grave mound, he put it on the right side of grave mound. Also conventionally, Subokbang(a place where guards can stay) and Suragan(a kitchen that prepares food for sacrificial rites) should be facing symmetrically, but they too, were on the same side with Jeongjagak. It was a measurement that the grave mound of Hyeunryungwon can have a full view without being obstructed by other facilities and it was also personally ordered by King Jeongjo. The distinguishing features of Hyeunryuwon was motivated by King Jeongjo's filial affection, and his academic pursuit of precedent royal tombs initiated the unconventional and innovative challenges.

지중관로 매설 밀집도에 따른 지반함몰 발생 상관 분석 (Correlation Analysis of the Occurrence of Ground Subsidence According to the Density of Underground Pipelines)

  • 최근 도심지를 중심으로 지반함몰이 꾸준하게 발생되고 있어 시민들의 안전을 위협하고 있다. 도로 하부에는 상수관로, 하수도관로, 통신관로 등 각종 지하 시설물이 매설되어 있다. 이러한 지하시설물의 노후화와 지하 난개발로 인해 지반함몰의 원인으로 작용하고 있다. 기존 관로의 노후도에 따라 지반함몰 발생 위험도를 분석된 결과가 있지만 지반 교란상태를 나타내는 관로의 밀집도를 활용한 지반 함몰 위험도를 분석한 결과는 없는 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 서울시의 대표 지하 관로 6종 데이터를 활용하여 지하공간의 밀집도를 분석하여 지반함몰과 상관성이 있는지에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 그 결과 지반함몰 발생 지역에서는 지하 시설물의 밀집도가 높은 것으로 나타나 지반함몰에 관로의 밀집도가 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다.

여의도 샛강 흐름 정체와 수질악화 원인 분석 (Analysis of the Causes of Flow Stagnation and Water Pollution in Yeouido Saetgang River)

  • 도시지역 샛강은 생물이 서식하기 어려운 도심지에 다양한 수변공간을 제공하여 생물다양성에 중요한 역할을 하며, 시민들에게는 휴식 및 체험 공간으로 활용되고 있다. 특히, 여의도 샛강은 국내 최초의 생태공원으로 조성되었으며, 서울 도심 중심에 흐르고 있어 장소적 희소성이 크고 생태적 가치가 매우 높다. 그러나 여의도 샛강은 조성 당시부터 수질 문제가 지속적으로 제기되어 오고 있어, 샛강 환경에 영향을 미치는 요소들과 그 원인에 대한 분석이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 여의도 샛강 흐름 정체와 수질 악화 원인을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 하천 측량 및 항공사진 분석을 통해 자연적인 물 순환이 어려운 원인에 대해 분석하고 고찰하였다. 한편, 여의도 샛강의 수질 모니터링 결과, 비가 오지 않는 평상시에는 BOD, T-P는 평균 III등급과 IV 등급 수준으로 나타났으며, 강우 시에는 BOD, T-P 모두 V~VI 등급인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 배수분구 분석을 통해 샛강 수질에 영향을 미치는 소유역을 선정하였으며, 결과에 대해 고찰하였다.
