  • The methodology for maintenance system development should overall be considered with all of task characteristic, schedule, and the technical condition of investment sources. This research applies Waterfall model to methodology for the development and construction of maintenance system through customizing the CD (Custom Development) procedure of "HSDM (Hyundai System Development Methodology)" based on information engineering. The waterfall model called as classic life cycle paradigm is defined for the sequent development procedure, which make progress a next step after that a previous step is admitted with thorough review. This model which is popular and the oldest paradigm is used for system development by four steps; demands analysis, design, construction, and maintenance. This methodology advances higher abstract step from higher lower step using top-down approach from concept definition to construction, which notices the end of a step whenever a step is over. Therefore, each step is exactly divided, and consequently the output is clearly yielded.

  • An amenity requirement of the passenger using public traffic is rising continuously, and also The Ministry of Environment established "Indoor air quality management guidelines in public facilities(Dec. 2006)". To satisfy such requirement, the photoplasma device to decrease VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) and suspended bacillus is applied to the underframe mounted HVAC(Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning) system for train. Air purifying method of photoplasma device is optical and chemical reaction that UV-light(wavelength less than 280nm) react with catalyst material(TiO2). To analyze the efficiency of photoplasma in this study, we measured the requirement time for toluene to decease down to 0.3ppm after contaminating the passenger cabin for train to toluene 1ppm.

  • Display Unit(DU) of TCMS is very useful device display many data for operation and maintenance graphically. At This Time, rolling stock is reducing the wiring and size of desk for cutting down on their cost and making light weight. Dual Du(Display Unit) of TCMS could make the desk of cab simply by integrating cab's switches and gauges. Dual DU is not only can reduce the wiring and simplify desk of cab but also can making system of TCMS reliable by including backup function each other. For this reason. In this paper, advantages, application and example analysis of Dual DU of TCMS for rolling stock are described through the ongoing projects.

  • The conventional loading process of workpieces for a CNC lathe is performaed either by human or by a general robot. It is not suitable for a general robot to load workpieces because of high price and inefficiency. Starting from the description of the environment around CNC lathes and the analysis ofloading process, we have developed the task-oriented loading manipulator. The characteristics of a loading manipulator are the following: to load/unload heavy workpieces, to decrease the whole porcess time. The air-chuck to load heavy workpiece has high clamping force and light weight. A loading manipulator has accomplished both the integration of independent automation techniques and cost-down effect of product. A loading manupulator developed in this project has been designed for general loading process. The loading manipulator is capable of carrying heavy payload with respect to weight of robot in short cycle time.

Growth and upconversion properties of erbium doped $LiNbO_{3}$ single crystal fibers

  • Erbium (Er) doped $LiNbO_{3}(Er:LiNbO_{3})$ single crystal fibers were grown free of creacks along the c-axis by micro-pulling down method. The $Er^{3+}$ concentration was distributed homogeneously along the growth axis. The samples for optical characterization were cut from as-grown single crystal fibers and polished. When the 980nm light was incident on the sample, upconversion phenomena were observed at the green range of wavelength 510~570nm. In addition, the intensity of upconversion was remarkably increased by increasing the concentration of $Er_{2}O_{3}$ dopant in as-grown $Er:LiNbO_{3}$ crystals.

  • This paper focused on the possibility of face recognition using Flexible let Point Setting method in Gabor Filter Based Face Recognition. Gabor Filter is very sensible to the Texture variation. Therefore, any little change in the face expression or rotation of posture make recognition rate down significantly. A suggested solution for this problem is the Flexible Jet Point Setting. A significant effect of this method is that the number of Jet Point has been reduced from over 150 to under 30 even though the change of recognition rate between two methods is neglectable, Furthermore a set of feature values which results from a set of Gabor filtering became insensible to face variation such as expression, rotation, and light effect. Retinex Algorithm which has been developed by NASA are used as pre-processing.

배관 검사 및 청소 로봇의 개발 (Development of an In-Pipe Inspection and Cleaning Robot)

  • In this paper, a robot was developed for in-pipe cleaning and inspecting a large number of circular in-pipes of sea plants, ships, and buildings. A pressure generation mechanism was devised to inspect circular in-pipes with different diameters and to move up and down slant or perpendicular slopes in-pipes. For inspection of the dark inner side of the pipe, a light system using LED which dissipats small electricity was developed. Also, a design method was analyzed to decide the capacity of driving motor for the robot when the mass and maximum velocity of the robot are identified. The robot developed based on the design specification, was tested to verify the performance of the pressure generation mechanism. In addition, a control system was developed for the test.

  • Lighting emitting diodes of n-ZnO/MQW/p-GaN structure are fabricated and investigated. To realize this LED structure, n-ZnO/MQW/p-GaN are grown by MOCVD. At several bias voltages, blue-green light is emitted from the ZnO mesa edge. However, the emission is restricted near the mesa edge. It is seen that the hole current does not spread well. It is because conductivity of p-GaN is extremely small. The break down voltage of the device is small compared to conventional InGaN/GaN LEDs. It is seen that ZnO columnar grain boundaries act as leakage current paths and non-radiative recombination center.

The Implementation of The Multi-Subject, Multi-Channel Optical Telemetry System for Physiological Signals

  • This paper describes the implementation of a multi-subject, multi-channel optical telemetry system for the short range measurement of electrocardiograms (EKGs) a system which receives command signals and transmits physiological signals to the external system using LED (Light Emitting Diode) and PD (Photodiode). This system decreases the dependency of power supply voltage to the CMOS IC chips and a new enforced synchronization technique using infrared bi-directional communication has also been proposed. The telemetry IC with the size of $5.1{\times}5.1mm^2$ has the following functions: receiving of command signal, initialization of internal state of all functional blocks, decoding of subject selection signal, time division multiplexing of 4-channel modulated physiological signals, transmission of modulated signals to external system, and auto power down control.

원자로용 핵연료 피복재의 인장특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mechanical Properties of Nuclear Fuel Cladding Materials)

  • The fuel of light water reactor is used for several years under high temperature and pressure, so it needs to be clad with high corrosion resistance material. The cladding materials must have the characteristics of low absorption of a neutron and high corrosion resistance. Zircaloy-2 in Boiling Water Reactor, Zircaloy-4 in Pressurized Water Reactor have been used as cladding materials and Zirlo has been developed as the material for preventing the corrosion. If the fracture of the cladding tube occurs during operation, it will cause the economic loss to shut down and replace the system. So it is needed to evaluate the integrity of the cladding materials. In this paper, the tensile characteristics of the cladding materials were investigated for the basic research of fracture characteristics. Also the residual stress was analyzed to compare the tube type(original type) specimen and the flattened type specimen.
