  • Dynamic forces due to mechanical and hydraulic related causes are always exerted on operating turbomachinery such as centrifugal pumps. To ensure the safety and the reliability of the pump. the magnitudes of the vibration must be kept within an acceptable limit. The focus of this paper is on the identification of the vibration behavior and the quantitative analysis of the hydraulic excitation forces. As the structure becomes more complex finite element analysis is essential to accurately predict the vibration characteristics and the excitation forces, This paper presents an experimental and analytical technique to find and solve to vibration problems in double volute double suction centrifugal pump. Measured vibration data due to the dynamic forces are presented and individual causes are identified, finally excitation forces of the pump are inversely estimated at each frequency on operating conditions.

Calculation of Electromagnetic Excitation Forces in Double Skewed Motors

  • An electromagnetic excitation force is caused by the air-gap flux density, which greatly influences the noise and vibration of the motor. In many real projects, skewed slot technology is widely used to reduce the harmonic components of the air-gap flux density to reduce the noise and vibration of the motor. However, a skewed slot has several side effects such as a transverse current and axial drifting. Thus, a double skewed slot rotor is selected with the aim of eliminating these side effects. This paper presents the exact structure of the double skewed slot rotor and the mechanism whereby the electromagnetic excitation force can be reduced. A multi-slice method is adopted to model the special structure. Finite element simulation is used to verify the theory.

Double displacement coupled forced response for electromechanical integrated electrostatic harmonic drive

  • In this paper, the double displacement coupled statics and dynamics of the electromechanical integrated electrostatic harmonic drive are developed. The linearization of the nonlinear dynamic equations is completed. Based on natural frequency and mode function, the double displacement coupled forced response of the drive system to voltage excitation are obtained. Changes of the forced response along with the system parameters are investigated. The voltage excitation can cause the radial and tangent coupled forced responses of the flexible ring. The flexible ring radius, ring thickness and clearance between the ring and stator have obvious influences on the double displacement coupled forced responses.

  • The double excited induction motor has two sets of three-phase system : One is connected to the ac source to take care of energy convertion, and the other is to the inverter controlable frequency and/or magnitude of voltage, both of the induction mode and the synchronous mode are possible in double excitation motor, and the proposed double excitation motor can be driven as a synchronous motor by the extra three-phase input. At the synchronous mode the efficiency is improved so higher than that at induction mode or induction motor. The rating of the inverter used for speed control can be reduced upto one-fifth of that for conventional induction motor. Also the cost and maintenance fee of double excitation induction motor can be reduced compared to any other motors.

  • This paper is to propse a new self-excitation method of synchronous generator. Instead of conventional exciter of synchronous generator, the additional winding which is arranged in addition to the armature winding, is used in this generator. The output terminal of the additional winding is connected to a capacitor and to a full wave rectifier in series. In this configuration, one source double excitation which is composed of capacitor-self-excitation by lead urrent and direct current excitation by rectifier, is induced. The result is that` The excetation efficency is improved greatly and output waveform is improved also. In three-phase synchronous generator using the new method of the one source double excitation, voltage element (shunt characteristics) and current element (series characteristics)are compounded in scalar by adapting star-point-open-rectifier system. The result is as following` The effect of load power factor angle on voltage regulation is reduced greatly, compound characteristics is become manifold by controlling capacity of capacitor, and transient response is improved.

  • In this paper, by designning the width of the stator coil, double sided excitation LDM with multi-separated winding which is possible to obtain the constant thrust force is proposed. Using Maxwell 2D, Empulse, we were proved the characteristic analysis of LDM accoding to ratio magnet width venus coil width of LDM. Though designning for double sided excitation LDM with multi-separated winding, we could be achieved the constant thrust and rapidly time responses within the operating region.

  • This paper decribes a new technique for the generation of excitation sources in LPC system. We synthesize a speech signal using several excitation sources, according to residual signal energy and ZCR(zero Crossing Rate). One of the excitation sources mix the double differentiated glottal wave form source and noise source. As a result, we got improved speech signal than that produced by conventional LPC system.

Double clad fiber probe for fluorescence spectroscopy

  • We report a probe using a single double clad fiber (DCF) for fluorescence spectroscopy. Bidirectional separate transmission for excitation and fluorescence light in a single fiber was implemented. A DCF coupler made by side-polished method could extract none but the collected fluorescence signals propagating in inner cladding mode, thereby diminishing the interference of silica background generated by the excitation in core mode. The experimental results show that the fluorescence spectra of biological tissues obtained using the DCF probes have much less silica background than using a standard multiple-mode fiber.

  • Generally, thrust force of double-sided LPM is more powerful than that of single-sided LPM. Also, double-sided LMP can be effectively applied to the high-precision position system with its simple control scheme. However, An equality between two airgap lengths Is a necessary condition for its high performance. If a little difference between two airgaps is existed, unbalanced normal force and undesirable vibration will be generated. Additionally, even though two airgap lengths are absolutely same, undesirable vibration can be generated because the direction of instantaneous normal force on mover is changed according to excitation methods. An effect of inequality of two airgap lengths is presented in this paper. Distribution of airgap permeance vs. relative displacement is analyzed by two dimensional finite element method. Excitation From this results, current waveforms to reduce the undesirable vibration is proposed.

양측 여자형 다분할 LDM의 특성해석 (Characteristics Analysis of Double Side Excitation Type Multi-separated LDM)

  • 산업의 발달에 따라 선형 직류 모터의 용용이 확대되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 가동차석형 양측식 다분할 여자 LDM의 해석을 연구대상으로 하였다. 본 LDM의 구조에서 가동자는 큰 추력을 얻도록 영구지석 6개를 사용하였으며, 고정자는 철심의 포화를 억제 하도록 다 분할형 권선을 성층하였다. 또한 양측 여자 권선은 지그재그형으로 성 층하여 추력의 리플을 억제하고, 정추력을 발생할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 여기에 다 분할시 영구자석대 권선 폭의 비가 중요하므로 본 연구에서는 똑비를 1 : 1, 1 : 0.84 및 1 : 0.5의 3개 부분으로 나누어 해석하였다. 해석 방법은 복잡한 수치해석의 유한요소법 보다는 퍼미언스 및 자기저항 법을 이용하여 파라며터를 계산하였다. 제작된 실험장 치를 통하여 추력을 측정한 결과는 전 변위에 대해서 정추력이 발생함을 알 수 있었다.
