여러 니켈합금 중 인코넬 600은 원전 가압경수로(PWR)의 튜브 재료로 널리 사용되는 재료이다. 스테인리스강과 비교하여 우수한 내식성과 기계적 특성으로 인해 화학설비, 발전설비, 그리고 해양설비 등과 같은 여러 산업분야에서도 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 가압경수로용 증기 발생기의 튜브 재료와 같은 특수 환경에서 예민화에 따른 입계부식 및 입계응력부식 등의 문제가 흔히 보고되고 있다. 이러한 내구성 문제는 설비 및 장비의 수명, 내구성 그리고 안정성 등의 치명적인 영향을 미친다. 따라서 용접, 열처리, 그리고 가공과정에서 발생하는 Inconel 600의 예민화 및 입계부식에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 100시간 이상 장시간 열화된 시편에 대한 예민화 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 장시간 열화된 Inconel 600의 예민화를 평가하기 위해 최대 1,000시간까지 열화를 실시하였으며, 이에 대한 평가방법으로 Double-Loop Electrochemical Potentiokinetic Reactivation(DL-EPR) 시험법을 적용하였다. 본 실험에서 사용된 인코넬 600의 화학성분(wt, %)은 0.01 C, 0.05 Si, 0.14 Mn, 15.3 Cr, 0.5 Cu, 0.015 S, 그리고 나머지는 Ni 이다. 예민화 평가를 위한 등온 열화는 전기열처리로를 이용하여, $550^{\circ}C$와 $650^{\circ}C$에서 최대 1000시간까지 실시하였다. 열화에 따른 미세조직 변화는 scanning electron microscope와 energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy를 이용하여 실시하였다. DL-EPR 실험은 $25^{\circ}C$의 0.1M $H_2SO_4$ + 0.001M KSCN(potasium thiocyanate) 수용액 하에서 실시하였으며, 분극은 OCP로부터 600 mV(SSE vs.)까지 1.67mV/s 주사속도로 forward scan을 실시 후, 동일한 속도로 OCP까지 reverse scan을 실시하였다. Degree Of Sensitization(DOS)값은 anodic scan peak($I_a$) 값과 reverse scan peak($I_r$) 값의 비로 산출하였다. $$i.e.\;DOS=I_r/I_a{\times}100$$. 그 결과, 온도 변수에 따른 Inconel 600강의 예민화 거동은 서로 상이한 경향을 나타내었다. $550^{\circ}C$의 경우, 열화가 진행됨에 따라 DOS값은 급격하게 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다. 반면, $650^{\circ}C$에서는 일정시간 이후부터 Cr 확산 현상에 의한 탈 예민화 현상이 관찰되었다.

Even though 304 low-carbon (304L) stainless steel was developed to enhance the resistance to intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking, it is occasionally subject to degradation in harsh environments. The degree of sensitization (DOS) of 304L stainless steel was studied as a function of sensitization using a double-loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation (DL-EPR) method. Sensitizing heat treatment was performed in an Ar atmosphere at 500℃, 600℃, and 700℃, with heat treatment times varying from 0 to 96 h. DOS was measured by the ratio of the peak current density value of the forward scan to that of the reverse scan. After the EPR experiment, the specimen surface was observed by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The DOS of the specimens heat-treated at 600℃ increased with heat treatment times up to 48 h and then decreased due to a self healing effect. The DOS was higher in specimens heat-treated at 600℃ than those at 500℃ or 700℃. Corrosion of the sensitized specimens occurred mainly at the δ-γ phase boundary. The corrosion morphology at the δ-γ phase boundary changed with sensitizing heat-treatment conditions due to differences in chromium activity in γ austenite and δ ferrite.

Due to excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, austenitic stainless steel is widely used as the material for chemical plants. nuclear power plants, and food processing facilities. But, the zone affected by heat in the range of 400 to $800^{\circ}C$ during welding loses corrosion resistance and tensile strength since Cr-carbide precipitation like $Cr_{23}C_6$ forms at the grain boundary and thereby takes place the intergranular corrosion. In this study, AISI 304 stainless steel with the added Nb of 0.3 to 0.7 wt% was solutionized at $1050^{\circ}C$ and sensitized at $650^{\circ}C$. Specimen was welded by MIG. The phase and the microstructure of the specimens were examined by an optical microscope, a scanning electron microscope, and a x-ray diffractometer. The corrosion characteristics of specimens were tested by electrolytic etching and by double loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation method(EPR) in the mixed solution of 0.5M $H_2SO_4$ + 0.01M KSCN. The melting zone had dendritic structure constituted of austenitic phase and $\delta$-ferrite phase. Cr carbide at the matrix did not appear, as Nb content increased. At the grain boundaries of the heat affected zone, the precipitates decreased and the twins appeared. The hardness increased, as Nb content increased. The hardness was highest in the order of the heat affected zone>melted zone>matrix. According to EPR curve, as the Nb content decreased, the reactivation current density(Ir) and the activation current density(la) were highest in the order of the melted zone

The present investigation is concerned with the degradation characteristics of cast stainless steel(CF8M), exposed to the $\sigma$-phase degradation at $700^{\circ}C$. In the present paper, the degradation of CF8 M at $700^{\circ}C$ is evaluated by a non-destructive test, DL-EPR(double loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation). The surface of specimens is observed by using scanning electron microscopy after DL-EPR test. Also. chromium contents of matrix, grain boundary and ferrite phase are analyzed by electron probe X-ray micro analyzer. Through the experiments, the following results are obtained 1) The degree of sensitization(DOS) of CF8M aged up to 15hr at $700^{\circ}C$ is increased with acing time while that is decreased with aging time from 15hr to 150hr. 2) The impact energy decreases with increase of $\sigma$-phase while DOS increases with $\sigma$-phase until aging time reaches to 15hr. After the aging time. 15hr, the $\sigma$-phase and the rate of impact energy with respect to aging time decreases. Therefore the degradation behavior of the CF8M can be evaluated by comparing SEM micrographs and the value of DOS.

To elucidate the effect of aging time on resistance to localized corrosion of hyper duplex stainless steel, a double-loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation test a potentiodynamic anodic polarization test, a scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectroscope analysis, and a thermodynamic calculation were conducted. With an increase in aging time, sigma phases are precipitated much more than chi phases due to the meta-stable chi phase acting as a transition phase. As aging time at $850^{\circ}C$ increases, the corrosion resistance decreases owing to an increase in Cr, Mo and W depleted areas adjacent to the intermetallic phases such as sigma phases and chi phases.

To elucidate the effect of heat inputs on phase transformation and resistance to intergranular corrosion of F316 austenitic stainless steel (ASS), thermodynamic calculations of each phase and time-temperature-transformation diagram were conducted using JMaPro simulation software, oxalic acid etch test, double-loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation test (DL-EPR), field emission scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy analyses of Cr carbide (Cr₂₃C₆), austenite phase and ferrite phase. F316 ASS containing a relatively low C content of 0.043 wt% showed a slightly sensitized microstructure (acceptably dual structure) due to a small amount of Cr carbide precipitated at heat affected zone irrespective of heat inputs. Based on results of DL-EPR test, although heat input was increased, the ratio of I_r to I_a was only increased very slightly due to a slight sensitization. Therefore, heat inputs have little influences on resistance to intergranular corrosion of F316 austenitic stainless steel containing 0.043 wt% C.

One of the consequences of the 475 ℃ embrittlement of duplex stainless steels is the reduction of the resistance to localized corrosion. Therefore, the detection of this type of embrittlement before the material exhibits significant loss in toughness, and corrosion resistance is important to ensure the structural integrity of critical components under corrosion threats. In this research, conductivity measurements are performed using the alternating current potential drop (ACPD) technique with using a portable four-point probe as a nondestructive evaluation (NDE) method for detecting the embrittlement in a 2507 (UNS S32750) super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) aged at 475 ℃ from as-received condition to 300 h. The electric conductivity results were compared against two electrochemical tests namely double loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation (DL-EPR) and critical pitting temperature (CPT). Mechanical tests and the microstructure characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imaging are conducted to track the progress of embrittlement. It is shown that the electric conductivity correlates with the changes in impact energy, microhardness, and CPT corrosion tests result demonstrating the feasibility of the four-point probe as a possible field-deployable method for evaluating the 475 ℃ embrittlement of 2507 SDSS.

The usage of bending products recently have increased since many industries such as automobile, aerospace, shipbuilding, and chemical plants need the application of pipings. Bending process is one of the inevitable steps to fabricate the facilities. Induction heat bending is composed of compressive bending process by local heating and cooling. This work focused on the effect of induction heat bending process on the properties of ASME SA312 Gr. TP304 stainless steel pipes. Tests were performed for base metal and bended area including extrados, intrados, crown up, and down parts. Microstructure was analyzed using an optical microscope and SEM. In order to determine intergranular corrosion resistance, Double Loop Electrochemical Potentiokinetic Reactivation (DL-EPR) test and ASTM A262 practice A and C tests were done. Every specimen revealed non-metallic inclusion free under the criteria of 1.5i of the standard and the induction heat bending process did not affect the non-metallic inclusion in the alloys. Also, all the bended specimens had finer grain size than ASTM grain size number 5 corresponding to the grain sizes of the base metal and thus the grain size of the pipe bended by induction heat bending process is acceptable. Hardness of transition start, bend, and transition end areas of ASME SA312 TP304 stainless steel was a little higher than that of base metal. Intergranular corrosion behavior was determined by ASTM A262 practice A and C and DL-EPR test, and respectively step structure, corrosion rate under 0.3 mm/y, and Degree of Sensitization (DOS) of 0.001~0.075% were obtained. That is, the induction heat bending process didn't affect the intergranular corrosion behavior of ASME SA312 TP304 stainless steel.

Austenitic stainless steel has been widely used because of its good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. However, intergranular corrosion can occur if the alloy is welded or aged. The objective of this study was to determine intergranular corrosion behaviors of austenitic medium carbon (0.05 wt%) and low carbon (0.02 wt%) stainless steel aged at several conditions. Alloys were evaluated according to ASTM A262 Practice A, ISO 12732 DL-EPR (double loop-electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation) test, and ASTM A262 Practice C. The degree of sensitization and intergranular corrosion rate were obtained. The relationship between the degree of sensitization and the intergranular corrosion rate showed a very large fluctuation. Such behavior might be related to whether two-dimension tests or three-dimension tests were performed. On the other hand, regardless of carbon content of alloys, when the intergranular corrosion rate increased, the degree of sensitization also increased. However, the DL-EPR test showed a higher sensitivity than the Huey test for differentiating the intergranular corrosion property at a low intergranular corrosion rate, while the Huey test had a higher sensitivity than the DL-EPR test for distinguishing the intergranular corrosion property at a high intergranular corrosion rate.
