  • Bond-slip behavior between reinforcement and concrete under push-pull cyclic loadings is numerically investigated based on a reinforcement model proposed in this paper. The equivalent reinforcing steel model considering the bond-slip effect without taking double nodes is derived through the equilibrium at each node of steel and the compatibility condition between steel and concrete. Besides a specific transformation algorithm is composed to transfer the forces and displacements from the nodes of the steel element to the nodes of the concrete element. This model first results in an effective use in the case of complex steel arrangements where the steel elements cross the sides of the concrete elements and second turns the impossibility into a possibility in consideration of the bond-slip effect in three dimensional finite element analysis. Finally, the correlation studies between numerical and experimental results under the continuously repeated large deformation stages demonstrate the validity of developed reinforcing steel model and adopted algorithms.

  • Double bond migration of butene-2 to butene-1 over ${\eta}$-alumina was investigated. The effects of calcination temperature on catalytic properties were analyzed by applying BET surface area, XRD, $NH_3$-TPD, and FT-IR of adsorbed pyridine techniques. The highest activity of the ${\eta}$-alumina catalyst calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ could be attributed not only to the highest amount of weak and medium strength acid sites, but also to the highest ratio of medium to weak strength Lewis acid sites.

  • Purpose: The dental CAD / CAM system has been popular with the development of the digital dental industry. Zirconia is a typical material in dental CAD / CAM systems. Zirconia crowns are classified into single layer and double layer. This study is about the double layer crown of zirconia. The surface roughness, bond strength and fracture patterns of the zirconia surface were observed. Methods: Zirconia blocks were cut using a low speed cutter. Sintered to form a plate shape (6mm × 6mm × 3mm). The prepared specimens were surface treated in four ways. Surface roughness and bond strength were measured. And the fracture pattern was observed. Results: Result of surface treatment of zirconia. The surface roughness test results were as ET 2.87 ㎛, ST 2.67 ㎛, LT 2.44 ㎛, AT 2.41 ㎛, CN 2.08 ㎛ order. Bond Strength results were as LT 25.09 MPa, AT 23.27 MPa, ST 21.27 MPa, ET 21.09 MPa, CN 16.12 MPa order. Fracture patterns showed cohesive failure of 25-50% of the bond area. Conclusion: Surface roughness, bond strength and fracture pattern of the zirconia surface were observed. Etching the surface treatment of zirconia materials has been shown to affect the surface roughness. Zirconia special binder treatment has been shown to affect the bond strength improvement.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of various application methods of one-step self-etch adhesives to microtensile resin-dentin bond strength. Materials and Methods: Thirty-six extracted human molars were used. The teeth were assigned randomly to twelve groups (n = 15), according to the three different adhesive systems (Clearfil Tri-S Bond, Adper Prompt L-Pop, G-Bond) and application methods. The adhesive systems were applied on the dentin as follows: 1) The single coating, 2) The double coating, 3) Manual agitation, 4) Ultrasonic agitation. Following the adhesive application, light-cure composite resin was constructed. The restored teeth were stored in distilled water at room temperature for 24 hours, and prepared 15 specimens per groups. Then microtensile bond strength was measured and the failure mode was examined. Results: Manual agitation and ultrasonic agitation of adhesive significantly increased the microtensile bond strength than single coating and double coating did. Double coating of adhesive significantly increased the microtensile bond strength than single coating did and there was no significant difference between the manual agitation and ultrasonic agitation group. There was significant difference in microtensile bonding strength among all adhesives and Clearfil Tri-S Bond showed the highest bond strength. Conclusions: In one-step self-etching adhesives, there was significant difference according to application methods and type of adhesives. No matter of the material, the manual or ultrasonic agitation of the adhesive showed significantly higher microtensile bond strength.

  • In this study, to overcome the limitation of material application as the surface layer of bridge decks (asphalt concrete, concrete), a newly developed waterproof sheet is proposed to be usable for both asphalt concrete and concrete. Subsequent tensile bond strength was tested, and the test results showed that the tensile bond strengths were similar to depending on the type of the surface layer material for bridge decks, confirming the applicability of the proposed material.

  • Epoxy resin compositions were studied on the view of self-extinguishing properties without retardant additives and suitability as materials of eco-friendly EMC (Epoxy molding compound). Cured epoxy and phenolic resin composition having conjugated double bond of aromatic structure exhibited self-extinguishing properties and low heat release capacity. In this study, the structure of long conjugated double bond of hetero-atom type azomethyne group between conjugated double bonds of aromatic structure showed lower heat release capacity. Low heat release capacity seemed to be related with high reaction enthalpy, $T_g$ and reactivity affected by hetero-atom structure in azomethyne group.

  • It was established that .alpha.-spinasterol (I) was isomerized by hydrogen chloride to a mixture of two isomers. These isomers were separated into each of components and identified as .DLETA.$^{8(14),22}$ -stigmastadienol (III) and ${\delta}$$^{14,22}$ -stigmastadienol (IV), respectively. The mass spectra of these compounds were found to be particularly suitable to idetify the position of nuclear double bond of sterols possessing 22 : 23 -double bond in side chain.

  • Photoreaction of 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) with thymine (${\ge}$ 300 nm) was carried out in the dioxane-water frozen state. One major and two minor monoaddition products between 8-MOP and thymine were isolated by various chromatographic methods. Major monoadduct was characterized to be a C4 cycloaddition product formed between 5,6-double bond of thymine and 3,4-double bond of 8-MOP with cis-anti stereochemistry. Two minor adducts were proved to be stereoisomers of this major adduct.

  • The photocycloaddition reaction of khellin with several olefins has been investigated. The photocycloadducts are formed regioselectively on furanyl 4',5'-double bond of khellin probably due to the localization of excitation energy on the furanyl 4',5'-double bond in the reactive excited state. The photocycloaddition reaction proceeds through the excited triplet state and the same product was formed when khellin is irradiated with dimethylfumarate or dimethylmaleate indicating the formation of common intermediate. The quantum yields of photocycloadduct formation, fluorescence, and intersystem crossing are very sensitive to proton-donating ability of solvents.
