  • In solving the unsteady potential flow problem of the ship in waves with the panel method, in general one can consider the basic flow as the free stream or double body solution. For the double body solution, the body boundary condition has the 2nd derivatives of the velocity potential. Low order panel methods are known to suffer from the significant error in the 2nd derivatives computed at the body surface. This paper analyzes the numerical error in the 2nd derivatives for a 2-D cylinder and a 3-D sphere problem, and an extrapolation method to obtain the correct derivatives on the body surface is suggested.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the double stylobate of the three-story stone pagoda in Yeongnam region and to divide the types of arrangements of the body-stone and roof-stone and find their correlation. Research objects are 47 three-story stone pagodas in Yeongnam region which have accurate documents and plans. After dividing a double stylobate of three-story stone pagodas into a lower and upper stylobate, we classified each stylobate into a type of body-stone and roof-stone from an architectural point of view. Types of arrangement of body-stones are divided into methods of using the 'ㅡ' shaped stone and methods of using 'ㄱ' shaped stone in the corner. And types of arrangement of roof-stones are divided into methods of arranging stones in a row or in a grid pattern. As the size of the pagoda increases, 'ㄱ' shaped stones used for the body-stone and stones for the roof-stone are arranged in a grid pattern. As the size of the pagoda becomes smaller, the body-stone is consist of 'ㅡ' shaped stone, and the roof-stone is arranged in a row. As the construction year of the pagoda becomes later, the size of the pagoda becomes smaller and types of body-stone and roof-stone had been stereotyped. As a result, the size of the stone pagoda became smaller as constructed later, and the type of body-stone and roof-stone of the double stylobate appear differently according to the size of the pagoda.

  • In this paper, we propose a complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) binary image sensor with a gate/body-tied (GBT) p-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (PMOSFET)-type photodetector using a double-tail comparator for high-speed and low-power operations. The GBT photodetector is based on a PMOSFET tied with a floating gate (n+ polysilicon) and a body that amplifies the photocurrent generated by incident light. A double-tail comparator compares an input signal with a reference voltage and returns the output signal as either 0 or 1. The signal processing speed and power consumption of a double-tail comparator are superior over those of conventional comparator. Further, the use of a double-sampling circuit reduces the standard deviation of the output voltages. Therefore, the proposed CMOS binary image sensor using a double-tail comparator might have advantages, such as low power consumption and high signal processing speed. The proposed CMOS binary image sensor is designed and simulated using the standard 0.18 ㎛ CMOS process.

  • The operation of double deck train have increased in many countries such as Japan france, and the Netherlands as efficient, safe and convenient alternative transportation systems. Because of continuous concentration of population into Seoul metropolitan and serious traffic jam, the number of passengers using the commuter train have been increased rapidly. Considering these situations, we can find one of the solutions for heavy traffic problems through double deck trains. Stainless steel, and aluminum extruded panel are used to reduce the weight of double deck train. In this paper we compare the results of structural analysis of the double deck car body structures with Al extruded panels and stainless steel. We hope the results of this study may be used as basic guidelines in designing double deck trains in the future.

  • In this paper, wave propagation is studied and analyzed in double-layered nanotubes systems via the nonlocal strain gradient theory. To the author's knowledge, the present paper is the first to investigate the wave propagation characteristics of double-layered porous nanotubes systems. It is generally considered that the material properties of nanotubes are related to the porosity and hygro-thermal effects. The governing equations of the double-layered nanotubes systems are derived by using the Hamilton principle. The dispersion relations and displacement fields of wave propagation in the double nanotubes systems which experience three different types of motion are obtained and discussed. The results show that the phase velocities of the double nanotubes systems depend on porosity, humidity change, temperature change, material composition, non-local parameter, strain gradient parameter, interlayer spring, and wave number.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the profitable clothes design of middle-aged men by examining visual effects in physical design. The methode of study is experimentation. The sample of this study is people who live in Kwangiu, Korea and 20-50 age's 719. The difference of physical design effect by arrangement, pattern and the shape of body. There are partly resemblance difference in physical design visual effect by the shape of body and clothes design(arrangement and pattern)In weak type, single suit with striped pattern and double suit with check pattern make the upper body look short. Otherwise, double suit with striped pattern have man look tall. In standard type, single arrangement suit with striped pattern make the lower half of body long, so make man look tall. And double arrangement suit with striped pattern have man look tall. The suit without pattern have one's shoulder look wide. In pyknic type, striped pattern make the lower half of one's body look long. But single arrangement with striped pattern have the upper body look big. sing1e suit with striped pattern make lower half of body look long and check pattern make it look short. Totally, arrangement, and pattern are very important clothes due to give an effect on whole visual effect man's suit. Also, these dues were felt differently by each types of body. So, it is confirmed that the type of body is important fluent to make people perceive.

  • The experiment was performed at the large wind tunnel of the Chungnam National University to measure the velocity distribution around the stern of a Liquefied Natural Gas Carrier model. The data, mean velocity vectors of turbulent shear flows at the stern and near-wake including the propeller plane, were obtained by a five-hole Pilot tube for the double body model fixed inside the wind tunnel test section. The present result of the double body model shows a close agreement with the result of the lowing tank experiment performed by the KRISO for the same ship model. The characteristics of the LNG stern flow are discussed based on the measured velocity distribution. The data can be very useful for the validation of some numerical methods in computational fluid dynamics.

  • In this paper, quantum mechanical simulations of the double-gate ultra-thin body (DG-UTB) MOSFETs are performed according to the International Technology Roadmap of Semiconductors (ITRS) specifications planned for 2020, to devise the way for on-current ($I_{on}$) improvement. We have employed non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) approach and solved the self-consistent equations based on the parabolic effective mass theory [1]. Our study shows that the [100]/<001> Ge and GaSb channel devices have higher $I_{on}$ than Si channel devices under the body thickness ($T_{bd}$) <5nm condition.

  • Double-deck train have studied in the next generation train in KRRI. Double-deck train have more seat capacities compared with single deck vehicles and is a efficient, reliable and comfortable alternative train. Because of heavy weight, weight minimization of double-deck train carbody is imperative to reduce cost and extend life-time of train. Weight minimization problem of the double-deck train car-body is required to decide 66 design variables of thicknesses for large aluminum extruded panel while satisfying stress constraints. Design variables are too many and one execution of structural analysis of double-deck train carbody is time-consuming. Therefore, we adopt approximation technique to save computational cost of optimization process. Metamodels such as response surface model (RSM) and kriging model are used to approximate model-based optimization is described. RSM is easy to obtain and expressed explicit function, but this is not suitable for highly nonlinear and large scaled problems. Kriging model employs an interpolation scheme and is developed in the fields of spatial statistics and geostatistics. Target of this design is to find optimum thickness of AEP to minimize weight of doulbe-deck train carbody. In this study, meta model techniques are introduced to carry out weight minimization of a double-deck train car-body.
