SLR 운영용 실시간 운영체계에 대한 실험적 고찰

  • 한국천문연구원에서 개발 중인 KHz급 Satellite Laser Ranging(SLR) 시스템인 ARGO-M 의 운영시스템 중의 하나인 Interface Control System 은 현재 시각에서의 위성의 위치를 개산하여 추적마운트부에 Tracking 정보를 제공하고, 주기적으로 발사되는 레이저의 귀환 시간을 계산하여 수신광검출기 게이트를 열어야 하는 시간을 FPGA 보드에 전달하는 기능 등을 수행하게 된다. 이러한 일련의 작업은 각각 필요한 시점에 정확하게 실행되어야 하며 이를 위해 실시간 운영체계가 사용될 예정이다. 실시간 운영체계 하에서 Ranging 에 관련한 프로세스를 수행할 경우에 발생될 수 있는 문제점을 검토하기 위해서 기존에 Austria Graz SLR 관측소에서 사용하고 있는 DOS용 테스트 프로그램을 실시간 운영체계로 검토되고 있는 INtime 환경으로 이식하여 성능을 기존의 DOS 프로그램과 비교하여 보았다. Controller 역할을 담당하고 있는 FPGA 보드와의 데이터 통신의 주기성을 확인하는 시험 결과 실시간 운영체계를 사용하는 경우가 USB 사용 등 외적인 교란에 의한 영향을 적게 받는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한 500피코초 단위의 해상도를 갖는 내부 이벤트 타이머와의 연계, 레이저 발사 명령, 광검출기의 게이트 여닫기 등의 프로세스가 실시간 환경에서 문제점 없이 구현 가능함을 확인하였다.

Construction of a Database for New Bioactive Compounds and Development of Search Systems

  • In the research and development of bioactive compounds, determining whether a compound is novel is necessary at almost every stage. Fast and efficient determination can save money, time and effort, and thereby increase efficiency. Analysis and investigation of empirical results for previously determined compounds is also important in such research. The need to communicate research findings between workers is necessary. In effect, a systematic, centralized communication medium is required. Therefore, we have developed and constructed our own database and search systems. We have developed a search system on DOS and constructed a source file for our own database. To support multiple users, we have developed another specific and comprehensive search system, including powerful searching and output management features. The system has been developed to be simple and user-friendly, using the curses library of UNIX, while still allowing complicated queries to be performed easily with simple full-screen facilities. This UNIX version will be available for use by researchers on a computer network and is expected to make numerous contributions to basic research in universities. It will also have direct applications for institutes and industry.

Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer Using a Polymer Integrated Photonic Lightwave Circuit

  • We have developed a fully functional reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) switch module using a polymer integrated photonic lightwave circuit technology. The polymer variable optical attenuator (VOA) array and digital optical switch array are integrated into one polymer PLC chip and packaged to form a 10-channel VOA integrated optical switch module. Four of these optical switch modules are used in the ROADM switch module to execute 40-channel switching and power equalization. As a wavelength division multiplexer (WDM) filter device, two C-band 40-channel athermal arrayed waveguide grating WDMs are used in the ROADM module. Optical power monitoring of each channel is carried out using a 5% tap PD. A controller and firmware having the functions of a 40-channel switch and VOA control, optical power monitoring, as well as TEC temperature control, and data communication interfaces are also developed in this study.

  • 석유 등의 화석연료가 연소되면서 발생하는 이산화탄소를 주체로 하는 ''온실효과가스''의 배출량이 점점 더 증가해 감에 따라 지구온난화가 국제적으로도 커다란 환경문제가 되고 있다. 이산화탄소의 배출을 억제하기 위한 구체적인 시책은 바로 자에너지(에너지 절약/ 이용합리화)의 수행이다. 이번에 자에너지를 주목적으로, ISO14001의 환경매니지먼트 모델을 전체적으로 지원하는 공장에너지관리시스템과 조명$\cdot$빌딩분야에서 환경매니지먼트 모델을 지원하는 조명제어시스템 및 빌딩 설비 감시시스템을 구축하였다. 신규개발한 Controller의 소프트웨어는 24시간 가동가능한 OS(Operating System)에 제어미들웨어를 탑재하여 Object설계방법으로 제작된 기능별 어플리케이션 소프트웨어를 각 시스템별로 조합한다. 하드웨어는 퍼스컴과 동일한 DOS/V머신 구성으로 하여 시스템의 주체가 되는 부송부의 하드웨어를 개발하였다. 구축한 각 시스템의 내용은 다음과 같다. (1)공장에너지관리시스템 수집한 에너지사용량 데이터를 관리$\cdot$분석용으로 가공하는 생에너지 지원용 어플리케이션 소프트웨어를 탑재하고있어 환경매니지먼트 시스템(ISO14001)을 실행하는 데에도 유용하다. (2)조명제어시스템 지금까지 단독기기였던 조도일정제어의 조광컨트롤러에 B/NET 전송기능을 탑재하여 스케줄 및 디맨드 감시에 의한 조광제어를 시행하여 한층 더 생에너지를 실현한다. (3)빌딩설비 감시시스템 빌딩의 에너지관리, 조명$\cdot$공조제어에 의한 생에너지화, 보전업무의 효율화$\cdot$생력화를 실현한다.

c-fos Expression of Rat Brain by Antipsychotics : Contrasting Effects of Haloperidol and Clozapine (항정신병 약물에 의한 백서 뇌에서의 c-fos 발현 : 할로페리돌과 클로자핀의 효과 비교)

  • To investigate characteristic drug effects on the genetic basis, the authors administered haloperidol- the $D_2$ antagonist- and clozapine -the atypical antipsychotics with few extra- pyramidal side effects- to the rats. Then, we edobtain brain specimen from the striatum, prefrontal cortex, and cortical region and compared the degree of c-fos expression. The results are 1) haloperidol was found to produce a rapid and transient induction of dos mRNA expression in striatum as compared with cortex and prefrontal area. 2) clozapine was found to produce rapid induction of c-fos mRNA in striatum and prefrontal area. From these data, we can concluded that the mechanism of action of haloperidol is different from the mechanism of clozapine in gene expression.

Comparative Study of Holmium (III) Selective Sensors Based on Thiacalixarene and Calixarene Derivatives as an Ionophore

  • The two chelates based on calix[4]arene and thiacalix[4]arene have been synthesized and used as neutral ionophores for preparing PVC based membrane sensor selective to $Ho^{3+}$ ion. The addition of potassium tetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)borate (KTpClPB) and various plasticizers, viz., NDPE, o-NPOE, DOP, TEP and DOS have been found to improve significantly the performance of the sensors. The best performance was obtained with the sensor no. 6 having membrane of $L_2$ with composition (w/w) ionophore (2%): KTpClPB (4%): PVC (37%): NDPE (57%). This sensor exhibits Nernatian response with slope $21.10{\pm}0.3mV/decade$ of activity in the concentration range $3.0{\times}10^{-8}-1.0{\times}10^{-2}M\;Ho^{3+}\;ion$, with a detection limit of $1.0{\times}10^{-8}M$. The proposed sensor performs satisfactorily over a wide pH range of 2.8-10, with a fast response time (5 s). The sensor was also found to work successfully in partially non-aqueous media up to 25% (v/v) content of methanol, ethanol and acetonitrile, and can be used for a period of 4 months without any significant drift in potential. The electrode was also used for the determination of $Ho^{3+}$ ions in synthetic mixtures of different ions and the determination of the arsenate ion in different water samples.

  • The mechanical properties obtained from mechanical tests, such as tensile, buckling, impact and fatigue tests, are largely applied to several materials and are used today for preliminary studies for the investigation of a desired element in a structure and prediction of its behavior in use. This contribution focus on two widely used different tests: tensile and fatigue tests. Small PZT (Lead Titanate Zirconate) patches are bonded on the surface of test samples for impedance-based health monitoring purposes. Together with these two tests, the electromechanical impedance technique was performed by using aluminum test samples similar to those used in the aeronautical industry. The results obtained both from tensile and fatigue tests were compared with the impedance signatures. Finally, statistical meta-models were built to investigate the possibility of determining the state of the structure from the impedance signatures.

  • A statistical software for nonlinear regression analysis, NLIN2000, is introduced. This software, operated tinder the Window systems, has many user-friendly functions and Provides various statistics. As an upgraded version of the Previous Program operated under the DOS system, NLIN2000 provides easier steps for model specification and fitting process than any other statistical packages. Also it has a database system for model functions which has addition and deletion options. While it can be a useful research tool for statisticians, NLIN2000 can be used practically also by researchers in many other scientific fields, who needs nonlinear regression analysis for their study.

Heterologous Production and Detection of Recombinant Directing 2-Deoxystreptamine (DOS) in the Non-Aminoglycoside-Producing Host Streptomyces venezuelae YJ003

  • 2-Deoxystreptamine is a core aglycon that is vital to backbone formation in various aminoglycosides. This core structure can be modified to develop hybrid types of aminoglycoside antibiotics. We obtained three genes responsible for 2-deoxystreptamine production, neo7, neo6, and neo5, which encode 2-deoxy-scyllo-inosose synthase, L-glutamine: 2-deoxy-scyllo-inosose aminotransferase, and dehydrogenase, respectively, from the neomycin gene cluster. These genes were cloned into pIBR25, a Streptomyces expression vector, resulting in pNDOS. The recombinant pNDOS was transformed into a non-aminoglycoside-producing host, Streptomyces venezuelae YJ003, for heterologous expression. Based on comparisons of the retention time on LC-ESI/MS and ESI-MS data with those of the 2-deoxystreptamine standard, a compound produced by S. venezuelae YJ003/pNDOS was found to be 2-deoxystreptamine.

  • 최근 인터넷 서비스는 최선형 서비스 제공 위주에서 실시간 멀티미디어 서비스들의 QoS 보장을 함께 지원하는 차등화된 서비스 형태로 발전하고 있다. 또한, 기존의 SONET/SDH 전송망에서 다중 기가비트 파장을 제공하는 WDM 기술이 차세대 인터넷의 중심 기술로 부상하고 있다. WDM 백본망은 Ingress와 Egress 쌍 간에 여러 lightpath를 제공하므로 각각의 광 품질에 따라 각기 다른 광 경로를 설정하여 차등화된 광 서비스를 제공할 수 있으나, 현재의 WDM 백본망은 종단간 QoS 서비스 보장을 위한 어떠한 지원도 제공하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 실시간 멀티미디어 서비스들을 IP over WDM 백본망에 적용하기 위해, 파장을 레이블로 사용하여 QoS 제공 기능과 트래픽 분산 기능을 용이하게 수행하는 GMPLS 기술을 차등화 서비스 기술과 같이 접목하여 새로운 형태의 차등화된 광 QoS 서비스(DOS) 제공 방안을 기술 한다.
