  • This paper estimated communication parameters according to underwater channel environment of lake for underwater acoustic communication. This paper calculated coherence time and coherence bandwidth through two experiments in actual lake environments. In both experiments, the chirp signal for channel estimation and the BPSK (Binary Phase Shift Keying) signal for calculating the bit error rate were transmitted. In each experiment, the distance between transmitter and receiver was 300 m to 400 m, and 500 m to 600 m. The coherence times calculated in experiment 1 and experiment 2 are 175 msec and 340 msec, and the coherence bandwidths are 10 Hz and 5.71 Hz, respectively. It is confirmed that the experimental results are more appropriate because the synchronization and the bit error rate performance are better only when the length of the synchronization signal and the interval of the pilot signal in the frame are shorter than the coherence time.

  • We cooled cesium atoms below the Doppler cooling limit by laser cooling. For this deep cooling of atoms, the laser frequency was shifted by using the Zeeman shift of an absorption line of cesium. The stabilization of the laser frequency was maintained while the laser frequency was shifted by 40 MHz within 2 ms. The lowest temperature of the laser-cooled cesium atoms was $2.2\muK$\pm$0.5$\muK$in this experiment. We measured the temperature of the laser-cooled cesium atoms as a function of the frequency detuuing and the intensity of the cooling laser. The results agreed well with the ones calculated by two-photon laser cooling theory.theory.

  • The underwater acoustic communication (UAC) is characterized by doubly spread channel. It is included in the time-variant doppler shift and delay-time spreads due to multiple paths. To compensate such distorted signals, various techniques including time-reversal processing, spatial diversity, phase estimator, and equalizer are being applied. In this paper, a spatial filter based on the beamforming is proposed as a method to mitigate such inter-symbol interferences that are generated in time-varying multipath channels. The proposed technique realizes coherent communications by steering the direction of the desired signals and improves the performance of UAC by increasing the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio using the array gain.

  • In a Satellite communication system, a link budget analysis is the detailed investigation of signal gains and losses moving through a channel from a sender to receiver. It inspects the fading of passed on data signal waves due to the process of spreading or propagation, including transmitter and receiver antenna gains, feeder cables, and related losses. The extent of the proposed tool is to make an effective, efficient, and user-friendly approach to calculate link budget analysis. It is also related to the satellite communication correlation framework by building up a graphical interface link analysis tool utilizing STK® software with the interface of C# programming. It provides better kinds of graphical display techniques, exporting and importing data files, printing link information, access data, azimuth-elevation-range (AER), and simulation is also possible at once. The components of the link budget analysis tool include transmitter gain, effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP), free space loss, propagation loss, frequency Doppler shift, flux density, link margin, elevation plot, etc. This tool can be useful for amateur users (e.g., CubeSat developers in the universities) or nanosat developers who may not know about the RF communication system of the satellite and the orbital mechanics (e.g., orbit propagators) principle used in the satellite link analysis.

  • The IEEE 802.11p-based wireless access in vehicular environments (WAVE) [1] communication is a method used exclusively for wireless communication on the road. This technique enables information sharing not only among moving vehicles but also between vehicles and infrastructure [2]. As part of WAVE communication, data is transmitted to and from vehicles in motion; in this case, it is difficult to determine the channel accurately in an outdoor environment owing to the Doppler shift [3]. This paper proposes a new channel estimation scheme for enhancing the reception performance of the IEEE 802.11p-based WAVE system. The proposed technique obtains the initial channel value by estimating the least square in the time domain by inserting a pilot signal for channel estimation into the IEEE 802.11p virtual subcarrier. Subsequently, a least mean square algorithm is applied to the initial channel value to update the estimated channel value. The simulation results obtained using the proposed channel estimation technique confirm its remarkable efficiency.

  • The virtual target signal generator was developed to verify the shipborne tracking radar performance. It was used to DRFM(Digital RF Memory) method to generate the virtual moving targets. The target signal includes Doppler shift and RCS according to the target motion. And the signal generator can make jamming signal and clutter to test shipborne radar performance at real environmental condition. This paper described the functional diagram and the hardware configuration items to meet the test requirements for the tracking radar. And it showed the critical design points for the sub-systems. The signal generator which was developed in this paper shared the operational information of the radar with the radar command and control part. To test the frequency agility of the radar, it had the local oscillator which could do high speed frequency switching according to radar information. By communicating between the signal generator and the radar command and control part, the local oscillator of signal generator could be controlled every pulse. It reduced the instantaneous bandwidth of signal generator and minimized the spurious. So it lowered the probability of generating wrong targets.

  • In this paper, we propose a energy-saving LED module using K-band microwave motion detecting sensor. To oscillate K-band microwave signal, An oscillator using a hairpin-type microstrip resonator was designed to increase stability and make fabrication easier. To radiate the microwave signal, a two-channel(TX/RX) patch antenna arrays was developed. Wilkinson power divider and ring hybrid mixer were developed and applied to obtain Doppler shift from the received signal. Shield cans were installed to protect the stability of the signals and unwanted external noise. The proposed motion detection sensor was mounted on a demonstration LED module and the energy saving performance through pre-test was verified.

  • Traditional three-dimensional (3-D) laser imaging systems are based on real aperture imaging technology, whose resolution decreases as the range increases. In this paper, we develop a novel 3-D imaging technique based on the synthetic aperture technology in which the imaging resolution is significantly improved and does not degrade with the increase of the range. We consider an imaging laser radar (ladar) system using the floodlight transmitting mode and multi-beam receiving mode. High 3-D imaging resolutions are achieved by matched filtering the linear frequency modulated (LFM) signals respectively in range, synthetic aperture along-track, and the real aperture across-track. In this paper, a novel 3-D imaging signal model is given first. Because of the motion during the transmission of a sweep, the Doppler shift induced by the continuous motion is taken into account. And then, a proper algorithm for the 3-D imaging geometry is given. Finally, simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
