  • In order to estimate the radial speed of an underwater object so-called target with active sonar, Continuous Wave (CW) pulse is generally used, but if a target is slow and at near distance, it is not easy to estimate the radial velocity of the target due to acoustic reverberation in the ocean. In 2017, Wang et al. utilized broadband signal of two Hyperbolic Frequency Modulation (HFM) pulses, which is known as a doppler-invariant pulse, with equal frequency band and in opposite sweep directions to overcome this problem and successfully estimate the radial speed of slow-moving nearby target. They demonstrated the estimation of the radial velocity with computer simulation using the parameters of two HFM starting time differences and receiving times. However, for it uses two HFM pulses with equal frequency, cross-correlation between the two pulses negatively affect the detection performance. To mitigate this cross-correlation effect, we suggest using two different band HFM with the opposite sweep directions. In this paper, a method of radial velocity estimation is derived and simulated using two HFM pulses with the pulse length of 1 second and bandwidth of 400 Hz. Applying the suggested method, the radial velocity was estimated with approximately 6 % of relative error in the simulation.

  • In this thesis, design effective elimination interference algorithm of ICS repeat system for repeater that improve frequency efficiency. Error convergence speed and accuracy of LMS Algorithm are influenced by reference signal. For improve LMS Algorithm, suggest Adaptive channel estimate algorithm. For using channel characteristic, adaptive channel estimate algorithm make reference signal similar interference signal by convolution operation and complement LMS algorithm demerit. For make channel similar piratical channel, apply Jake's Rayleigh multi-path model that random five path with 130Hz Doppler frequency. LMS algorithm and suggested adaptive channel estimate algorithm that have 16 taps apply to ICS repeat system under Rayleigh multi-path channel, so simulate with MATLAB. According to simulate, ICS repeat system with LMS algorithm show -40dB square error convergent after 150 datas iteration and ICS repeat system with adaptive channel estimate algorithm show -80dB square error convergent after 200 datas iteration. Analyze simulation result, suggested adaptive channel estimate algorithm show more three times iteration performance than LMS algorithm, and 40dB accuracy.

  • The purpose of this study is the suggestion of optimized parameters in OI (Optimal Interpolation) by experimental study. The observation of applying optimal interpolation is ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) data at the southwestern sea of Korea. FVCOM (Finite Volume Coastal Ocean Model) is used for the barotropic model. OI is to the estimation of the gain matrix by a minimum value between the background error covariance and the observation error covariance using the least square method. The scaling factor and correlation radius are very important parameters for OI. It is used to calculate the weight between observation data and model data in the model domain. The optimized parameters from the experiments were found by the Taylor diagram. Constantly each observation point requires optimizing each parameter for the best assimilation. Also, a high accuracy of numerical model means background error covariance is low and then it can decrease all of the parameters in OI. In conclusion, it is expected to have prepared the foundation for research for the selection of ocean observation points and the construction of ocean prediction systems in the future.

  • The physiological function test is the only patient contact area in the field of clinical laboratory. We need to recruit and encourage the experts due to requiring the expertise and long time for examination. However, there is currently no rule for estimating optimal workforce in the field of physiological function tests. The purpose of this study is to establish the basis of the studies for mid- to long-long term job creation in the field of ultrasound by evaluating the number of appropriate tests and appropriate workforce. We calculated the quantitative and qualitative workload for the number of appropriate tests and appropriate workforce using online questionnaire. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 18.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). A total of 216 respondents were 48 (22.2%) male and 168 (77.8%) female. A total of 157 laboratories were 62 (39.5%) for echocardiography, 91 (58.0%) for the transcranial Doppler (TCD) and 4 (5.7%) for the carotid ultrasound. The mean number of appropriate tests was 10 ± 2 in the echocardiography, 9 ± 2 in TCD and 11 ± 2 in the carotid ultrasound. In addition, the number of laboratories required to recruit employees for appropriate workforce was 19 in echocardiography, 18 in TCD, and 0 in carotid ultrasound. The number of hospital required to recruit workforce were 7 primary hospitals, 22 secondary hospitals, 7 third hospitals. This study can be used as an important data as the first study at present time when the data on the workforce status and work environment of the ultrasonic laboratories is insufficient. Based on the quantitative and qualitative workloads, the number of appropriate tests and appropriate workforce can support mid- to long-long term job creation in the field of ultrasound.

  • Wave measurements using X-band radar have many advantages compared to other wave gauges including wave-rider buoy, P-u-v gauge and Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), etc.. For example, radar system has no risk of loss/damage in bad weather conditions, low maintenance cost, and provides spatial distribution of waves from deep to shallow water. This paper presents new methods for estimating significant wave heights of X-band marine radar images using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). We compared the time series of estimated significant wave heights (Hs) using various estimation methods, such as signal-to-noise ratio (${\sqrt{SNR}}$), both and ${\sqrt{SNR}}$ the peak period (TP), and ANN with 3 parameters (${\sqrt{SNR}}$, TP, and Rval > k). The estimated significant wave heights of the X-band images were compared with wave measurement using ADCP(AWC: Acoustic Wave and Current Profiler) at Hujeong Beach, Uljin, Korea. Estimation of Hs using ANN with 3 parameters (${\sqrt{SNR}}$, TP, and Rval > k) yields best result.

  • When adapting the transmitter to the channel state information(CSI), improved transmission is possible compared to the open loop system where no CSI is provided at the transmitter. However, since the perfect channel information is rarely available at the transmitter, the system design based on the partial CSI becomes an important factor. Especially, in mobile environments, the consideration for the outdated CSI should be applied for mitigating the performance degradation. In this paper, we propose a robust adaptive modulation and coding scheme for bit-interleaved coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing over time-varying channels. With reasonable feedback overhead, the proposed scheme shows the enhanced performance by compensating for the outdated CSI due to Doppler spread. Simulation results confirm that the performance gain is achieved by applying an accurate BER estimation method.

  • In land mobile communications, multipath fading is one of the key factors which affect the system performance. Some extensive studies have been carried out to improve the degraded performance under this fading channels. The PSAM channel compensation method using channel fading estimation is widely used and TCM is a combined coding and modulation technique that has been shown to provide significant coding gain without increasing the transmission bandwidth. In this paper, we analyze the performance of PSA-TC-8PSK which combines PSAM and TCM over frequency nonselective fading channels. To estimate channel fading, Wiener filter which minimizes error variance is used as compensation method and we analyze the affects on the system performance of the number of filter taps, period of the pilot symbol frame, and the Doppler frequency. In addition, we consider the symbol timing recovery circuit which can be implemented in the full-digital method and analyze the effects of symbol timing error on the system performance.

  • For a target echo containing interference, it is very difficult to improve the performance of a monopulse radar with spatial domain processing, because the statistical property of interference cannot be exclusively obtained. This paper proposes a monopulse system that has a generalized sidelobe canceller(GSC) filter-based time domain processor as a preprocessor prior to conventional monopulse spatial processing. We analytically show the procedure of time-space signal processing running in the system, and assess its performance through simulation. In particular, the performance dependence on the number of taps in the main channel filter and the estimation error in Doppler frequency are assessed by comparison with those of existing systems.

  • In this paper, authors have been evaluated the Frame Error Rate (FER) performance of IEEE 802.11 a/g/p standard 5 GHz frequency band WLAN over Rayleigh and Rician distributed fading channels in presence of Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN). Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based transceiver is implemented by using real-time signal processing frameworks (IEEE 802.11 Blocks) in GNU Radio Companion (GRC) and Ettus USRP N200 is used to process the symbol over the wireless radio channel. The FER is calculated for each sub-carrier conventional modulation schemes used by OFDM such as BPSK, QPSK, 16, 64-QAM with different punctuated coding rates. More precise SNR is computed by modifying the SNR calculation process of YANS and NIST error rate model to estimate more accurate FER. Here, real-time signal constellations, OFDM signal spectrums etc. are also observed to find the effect of multipath propagation of signals through flat and frequency selective fading channels. To reduce the error rate due to the multipath fading effect and Doppler shifting, channel estimation (CE) and equalization techniques such as Least Square (LS) and training based adaptive Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm are applied in the receiver. The simulation work is practically verified at GRC by turning into a pair of Software Define Radio (SDR) as a simultaneous transceiver.

  • The proximal isovelocity surface area (PISA) method is an effective way of measuring the regurgitant blood flow rate in the mitral valve. This method defines the modelling required to describe the geometry of the isotach of the PISA. In the normal PISA flow model, the flow rate is calculated assuming that the surface of the isotach is either hemispherical or non-hemispherical numerically. However, this paper evaluated the estimate flow rate using a direct surface subdivision flow model based on the height field after isotach extraction using a region-based scheme. To validate the proposed method, the various PISA flow models were compared using pusatile color Doppler images with flow rates ranging from $30\;cm^3/sec\;to\;60\;cm^3/sec$ flow rate. Whereas the hemispherical flow model had a mean value of $29\;cm^3/sec$ and underestimated the measured flow rate by 35%, the proposed model and non-hemispherical model produced a c;ame mean value of $45\;cm^3/sec$, moreover, both flow models produced a similar pulsatile flow rate.
