  • The globalization of Korean beauty comes partly from the succession of korean traditional culture and its modernization will be the one of very important issues in 21st century. This paper was done in order to analyze the process of Korean design development in modern Korean fashion in terms of the succession and modernization of Koreantraditional Beauty and based on this analysis also suggest new possibilities for successful globalization of Korean traditional beauty andbased on this analysis also suggest new possibilities for successful globalization of Korean fashion in 21st century. 227 fashion designs which represent typical elements of korean traditional costume were selected from fashion magazines books SFAA collection books and company brochures published from 1986, to 1997. Content analysis was used with 8 variables including 7 design elements(line shape, color, textile, motif, detail, accessories) and year. Results of analysis showed that the process of Korean Design development in modern Korean fashion has in the use of straight lines and simple silhouettes. Diversity could be found in the application of various kinds of outwear items as well as in the variety of materials and details. Symbolic tradtional motifs and accessories were used to enliven the Korean folklore image, These trends became more salient with the turning point of 1993 when a few designers began to participate in Paris Collection. For successful globalization designers should have more active attitudes toward exploiting the essence of Korean beauty and developing them as modern and global styles.

  • This study aims to focus on clothing design's practical uses of the superior esthetic elements that can be found among the East's representations, in particular the characteristic Korean elements found in the latter part of the Chosun Era's women's Gauche and decorative personal ornamentation's moulded features. This has been the foundation for the creation of all eight pieces, and the conclusion is as follows: First of all, the Chosun Dynasty women's Gauche and ornamentation are in close relation to the general flow of society at the time. Gauche and personal ornamentation was not just a matter of beauty consciousness, but is permeated with then-mainstream society's culture, the results of an attempt to display a Korean appearance. Secondly, the desirability of the Chosun women's hair was expressed through Gauche, and through the exceptional brilliance of a diversity of embroidered color tones, braided as though creating Dare. Using this technique in clothing, a new image was created. Thirdly, the outstanding beauty of personal ornamentation's mouldings was used while creating new clothing compositions. The beauty felt through the Chosun women's personal ornamentation can also be felt through today's clothing. More than merely practical, this beauty also brings one closer to Korea and Korean past.

  • In this thesis the northeast Asian footwear culture are examined,. in order to search the origin It started from the cradle of ancient civilization such as Meospotamia Egypt Indus and ancient China civilization region prior to the northeast Asia. The results are: On account severe intense climates and rough road as well ancient people starts to put the shoes on. Primitive form of ancient footwear put into the two categories: Chinese in the central land begins to put the shoes named Lee. After making contact with nomadic northern races boots named Wha is adopted functionally and taken throughout China. oreans wear the shoes both boots and shoes named Lee. Japanese walked with bare feet and simul-taneously Dagetta was used for rice farming. The changes of footwear is mainly in-fluenced by the factors such as climate con-dition social economic prohibition func-tional elements and aesthetic standards. Cli-mate conditions have influence upon the footwear materials form and foot exposure, The functional elements influenced on the ways of wearing shoes. Decorated patterns and materials of footwear is under the influnece of social economic prohibition and also affected by aesthetic standards(Tab 1-4) In accordance with pattern function materials of footwear the type and characteristics of footwear in China Korea nd japan came out with diversity(Tab 5-9)

  • Great concerns about atmospheric aerosols are attributed to their multiple roles to atmospheric processes. For example, atmospheric aerosols influence global climate, directly by scattering or absorbing solar radiations and indirectly by serving as cloud condensation nuclei. They also have a significant impact on human health and visibility. Many of these effects depend on the size and composition of atmospheric aerosols, and thus detailed information on the physicochemical properties and the distribution of airborne particles is critical to accurately predict their impact on the Earth's climate as well as human health. A single particle analysis technique, named low-Z particle electron probe X-ray microanalysis (low-Z particle EPMA) that can determine the concentration of low-Z elements such as carbon, nitrogen and oxygen in a microscopic volume has been developed. The capability of quantitative analysis of low-Z elements in individual particle allows the characterization of especially important atmospheric particles such as sulfates, nitrates, ammonium, and carbonaceous particles. Furthermore, the diversity and the complicated heterogeneity of atmospheric particles in chemical compositions can be investigated in detail. In this review, the development and methodology of low-Z particle EPMA for the analysis of atmospheric aerosols are introduced. Also, its typical applications for the characterization of various atmospheric particles, i.e., on the chemical compositions, morphologies, the size segregated distributions, and the origins of Asian dust, urban aerosols, indoor aerosols in underground subway station, and Arctic aerosols, are illustrated.

  • Today, the market environment for companies around the world has been changed by globalization, digital innovation, information by opening the diversity, consumer awareness, and the development of mass media in the wide areas such as, politics, economy, society and culture. Accordingly, the function of the housing cultural center also has been changed from the Place where the trading had been made to the Space where the marketing could work. The housing cultural center is home to companies to target their corporate culture and corporate image, and the brand identity. From the space marketing standpoint, this study extracts differentiator of the housing cultural center from theoretical consideration to boom up of the housing cultural center and to build up its identification. Based on this analysis, the design identity element of the interior design of the housing cultural center is proposed by the actual and analytical cases. Such a future plan design identity elements in the design of the new housing cultural center is providing basic design guide line to recognize the importance.

  • When medicine is unable to cure, and the end becomes imminent, or when the patient is tired of the side effects associated with chronic use of drugs, the search for alternative and new ways of healing is begun. Coincidentally, sometimes the alternative is the origin, as is the case for traditional Arab medicine and traditional American Indian healing. Traditional healing is the first healing that all people have used for 200,000 years, since the beginning of Homo sapiens. The sources and elements of traditional Arab medicine have been examined in books and by consulting with traditional Arab healers. Arabic medicine is a career combining both elements of science and philosophy based on religion and traditions, and includes a diversity of healing approaches: spiritual, physical, and using natural products. These approaches are discussed with emphasis on wet cupping (Alhijamah), a practice that is undergoing a revival nowadays in Arab countries. American Indian healing is a career based on religion, tradition, an innate healing gift and extensive training, both in a medical school setting and as an apprentice. Arabic healing approaches are compared to American Indian healing approaches.

  • Immune-inspired intrusion detection is a promising technology for network security, and well known for its diversity, adaptation, self-tolerance, etc. However, scalability and coverage are two major drawbacks of the immune-inspired intrusion detection systems (IIDSes). In this paper, we propose an IIDS framework, named GEP-IIDS, with improved basic system elements to address these two problems. First, an additional bio-inspired technique, gene expression programming (GEP), is introduced in detector (corresponding to detection rules) representation. In addition, inspired by the avidity model of immunology, new avidity/affinity functions taking the priority of attributes into account are given. Based on the above two improved elements, we also propose a novel immune algorithm that is capable of integrating two bio-inspired mechanisms (i.e., negative selection and positive selection) by using a balance factor. Finally, a pruning algorithm is given to reduce redundant detectors that consume footprint and detection time but do not contribute to improving performance. Our experimental results show the feasibility and effectiveness of our solution to handle the scalability and coverage problems of IIDS.

  • This study aims to analyze the physical distortions of fashion design which appear in the 20th century. People have been expressing the hope and beauty by twisting human body since the beginning of mankind. Each period has been showing different forms according to various social and cultural environments. The exaggerated body distortions from the primitive times to the modern are based on human body proportions. Such distortion is to emphasize the inherent beauty within the human body. However, the distortions of the body after the 20th century have been developed with the advent of surrealism which is not affected by reasons but by imaginations. Generally speaking, the reconstruction of the heterogeneous elements is allowed in art. The unexpected surreal elements are creating formative beauty using by distinctly different technique which is unfamiliar and awkward. Physical distortion creates other beauty that is not uniform and absolute beauty but it pursues the diversity of breaking down into categories. Formativeness of surreal physical distortion fashion has the potential for a variety of clothing design, therefore it has intrinsic values for continuous study.

  • This study aims to investigate the physical characteristics and architectural ornaments of the walls (DamJang) and their bordering area that defines the Rear Garden of Changdeok-gung, one of the Royal Palaces in Seoul. This area, centered on Buyong-ji(부용지) and Aeryeon-ji(애련지), features the morphological diversity of buildings, walls, gates and stone bases in the palace. The findings are summarized as follows: First, DamJang, as a basic architectural element for the space organization, takes a set of various forms featuring different construction materials while responding positively to the physiographic nature of the surroundings; Second, DamJang along with their gates, also features different types of ornamental expressions which also suggest the hierarchy of its building and space; Third, typical of the traditional garden design in Korea are a group of DamJang standing as independent structures mostly around Buyong-ji and Aeryeon-ji whose finishing conditions also differ based on the nature of the space; Fourth, among commonly observed examples of DamJang in the Rear Garden and Changdeok-gung palace-wide, is a 'T' shaped wall whose heights and materials function as a design element for the garden.

  • This study aims to understand how different construction methods impact scenic preference of green wall and clarify features of each construction method to help select the most suitable construction method for the wanted image of a green wall by providing the basic data for further development and distribution of green wall. Questionnaire developed by the Repertory Grid technique proved that 11 adjectives can be used to describe scenic features of a green wall and 4 preference elements. The result of the Scenic evaluation, the Felt type scored high in 'Aesthetic' and 'Maintenance' meaning that it is the most suitable method when constructing a green wall to improve urban scenery. Regression analysis was conducted to understand the link between the preference elements and scenic impression of a green wall. The result is that the higher the preference is on the design of a green wall, the higher the score is for 'Aesthetic'. Also, the higher the preference is on Bio-Diversity, Design, Growth, the higher the score is for 'Natural'. The above findings can be important measures and reference for selection of the right construction method when planning a green wall.
