Performance Evaluation of RWA Vibration Isolator Using Notch Filter Control (노치 필터 제어기법을 이용한 반작용 휠 미소진동 절연장치의 절연성능 평가)

  • Vibration disturbances induced by the reaction wheels can severely degrade the performance of high precision payloads on board satellites with high pointing stability requirements. The unwanted disturbances produced by the reaction wheels are composed of fundamental harmonic disturbances due to the flywheel imbalance and sub/higher harmonic disturbances due to bearing irregularities, motor imperfections and so on. Because the wheel speed is constantly changed during the operation of a reaction wheel, the vibration disturbance induced by the reaction wheels can magnify the satellite vibration when the rotating frequency of wheel meets the natural frequency of satellite structure. In order to provide an effective isolation of the reaction wheel disturbances, isolation performance of a hybrid vibration isolator is investigated. In this paper, hybrid vibration isolator that combines passive and active components is developed and its hybrid isolation performance using notch filter control is evaluated in single-axis. The hybrid isolation performance using notch filter control show additional performance improvement compared to the results using only passive components.

Magnetic Disturbance Model-Embedded Heading Estimation Filter for Time-Varying Magnetic Environments (시변 자기 환경에 강한 자기왜곡 모델 내장형 헤딩 추정 필터)

  • With regards to heading estimation using gyroscope and magnetometer signals, magnetic disturbance added in the magnetometer signals is a main degradation factor in the estimation accuracy. Although there are a number of existing mechanisms that may properly compensate for the magnetic disturbances, they are designed to react only to the magnetic disturbances, but not to the time derivative of disturbances. Note that the sensors may experience abrupt changes in the magnetic disturbances, particularly for ambulatory applications. This paper proposes a magnetic disturbance model-embedded heading estimation filter for time-varying magnetic environments. The proposed magnetic disturbance model is based on a first-order Markov chain with a conditional switching technique depending on the time derivative of disturbances. Once a high amount of derivative is detected, the corrupted magnetometer signals are discarded to protect the filter from them. In our experimental results, the averaged heading error of tests was $1.46^{\circ}$, while that of the original approach without switching was $5.75^{\circ}$.

  • This paper is an analysis on the topography spatial structure and geomagnetic disturbance for the ideal spot of birthplaces in Jeollanam-do area. Here, representating the ideal spots for birthplaces means those homes that are wellknown to a lot of local residents, It also it speaks on the birthplaces where famous people spend their childhood. We chose three such birthplaces and analyzed them into Feng-Shui regarding the topography spatial structure, and also analyzed them for the geomagnetic disturbances. On the basis of such an analysis, we found a relation between the ideal spot of birthplaces and the geomagnetic disturbances. We studied the impact of geomagnetic disturbances on ideal spot of birthplaces. As a result, three birthplaces turned out to be an ideal spot with regards to our analysis of Feng-Shui and the topography spatial structure, also they had uniformly distributed almost no geomagnetic disturbances with stable the structure of the earth's stratum. Consequently we could know that the ideal spot of birthplaces did not a little affect mental health and physical health of the birthplace residents by liveliness while they lived fetal life until childhood.

  • The active magnetic bearing (AMB) systems mounted in moving vehicles are exposed to the disturbances due to the base motion, often leading to malfunction or damage as well as inaccurate positioning of the systems. Thus, in the controller design of such AMB systems, robustness to base disturbances becomes an essential requirement. In this study, effective control schemes are proposed for the homo-polar AMB system, which uses permanent magnets for generation of bias magnetic flux, when it is subject to base motion, and its control performance is experimentally evaluated. The base motion of AMB system is modeled as the dynamic disturbances in the gravity and base excitation forces. To effectively compensate for the disturbances, the angle feed-forward controller based on the inverse dynamic model and the acceleration feed-forward controller based on the normalized filtered-X LMS algorithm are proposed. The performance test of the prototype AMB system is carried out, when the system is mounted on rate table. The experimental results show that the performance of the proposed controllers for the AMB system is satisfactory in compensating for the disturbances due to the base motion.

Disappearing Forest Tree Species Diversity in Tropical Moist Deciduous Forest and Its Implications: A Case Study in the Madhupur Tract of Central Bangladesh

  • A study was conducted for indentifying the floral biodiversity of woody species by calculating four diversity indices using data collected from 4 stands of different age groups and disturbance regimes in two areas of Madhupur tract. Results showed that highest species diversity in the old growth secondary coppice forest (>60 years) under moderate anthropogenic disturbances of Madhupur National Park area (delete (D=0.74, H'=3.36) followed by old growth secondary forest stands (>40 years) under moderate disturbances at Bhawal National Park area (D=0.65, H'=2.81). Plant species diversity of the young enrichment plantations (<20 years and <15 years) under high anthropogenic disturbances in both the areas are much low (D=0.54 and H'=2.16 and D=0.52 and H'=1.92 respectively), which indicate high anthropogenic disturbances coupled with introduction of invasive exotics that are rival for endemic species are detrimental for conservation of biological diversity of tropical moist deciduous forests of Madhupur tract in Bangladesh.

  • In this paper, we consider the panel data regression model in which the disturbances have nested error component. We derive a Lagrange Multiplier(LM) test which is jointly testing for the presence of random individual effects and nested effects under the normality assumption of the disturbances. This test extends the earlier work of Breusch and Pagan(1980) and Baltagi and Li(1991). Further, it is shown that this LM test has the same asymptotic distribution without normality assumption of the disturbances.

  • Motivated by Cook's (1986) assessment of local influence by investigating the curvature of a surface associated with the overall discrepancy measure, this paper extends this idea to the linear regression model with AR(p) disturbances. Diagnostic for the linear regression models with AR(p) disturbances are discussed when simultaneous perturbations of the response vector are allowed. For the derived criterion, numerical studies demonstrate routine application of this work.

  • The ordinary least squares estimator $S^2$ for the variance of the disturbances is considered in the linear regression model with sutocorrelated disturbances. It is proved that the OLS-estimator of disturbance variance is asymptotically unbiased and weakly consistent, when the distrubances are generated by an MA(q) process. In particular, the asymptotic unbiasedness and consistency of $S^2$ is satisfied without any restriction on the regressor matrix.

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) needs autonomous flight capability to accomplish various mission objectives. For this objective, the autopilot is a key element in the UAV system design. The principal goal of autopilot is to guide the aircraft under varying external disturbances throughout the mission phases. The external disturbances include gravity effect, wind gust, and other unexpected obstacles. The gust affects the aircraft flight performance to a significant extent. UAV's low speed, light weight, and the absence of human judgment makes un predictable gust more dangerous.   • This paper presents a robust model reference adaptive controller for continuous-time single-input single-output linear time-invariant systems which are subjected to output-dependent disturbances as well as bounded external disturbances. In the derived controller form, an additional output error feedback term is included to over-ride the destabilizing effects by the output-dependent disturbances.
