Adaptive PI Controller Design Based on CTRNN for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (영구자석 동기모터를 위한 CTRNN모델 기반 적응형 PI 제어기 설계)

  • In many industrial applications that use the electric motors robust controllers are needed. The method using a neural network in order to design a robust controller when a disturbance occurs is studied. Backpropagation algorithm, which is used in a conventional neural network controller is used in many areas, but when the number of neurons in the input layer, hidden layer and output layer of the neural network increases the processing speed of the learning process is slow. In this paper an adaptive PI(Proportional and Integral) controller based on CTRNN(Continuous Time Recurrent Neural Network) for permanent magnet synchronous motors is presented. By varying the load and the speed the validity of the proposed method is verified through simulation and experiments.

  • In this paper, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear variable structure controller based on state dependent nonlinear form is presented for the control of uncertain affine nonlinear systems with mismatched uncertainties and matched disturbance. After an affine uncertain nonlinear system is represented in the form of state dependent nonlinear system, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear variable structure controller is presented. To be linear in the closed loop resultant dynamics, the linear sliding surface is applied. A corresponding control input is proposed to satisfy the closed loop exponential stability and the existence condition of the sliding mode on the linear sliding surface, which will be investigated in Theorem 1. Through a design example and simulation study, the usefulness of the proposed controller is verified.

  • This paper describes the steering control and geomagnetism cancellation for an autonomous mobile robotusing MR sensors. The magnetic-resistive (MR) sensor obtains the vector summation of the magnetic fields from embedded magnets and the Earth. The robot is controlled by the magnetic fields from embedded magnets. So, geomagnetism is the disturbance in the steering control system. In this paper, we propose a new method of the sensor arrangement in order to remove the geomagnetism and robotbody interference. When the wound-rotor induction motor is vector controlled from the secondary side, it has the possibility that the vector control can be accurately done because the disturbance input, that is, primary voltage and all state variables, that is, primary currents and secondary currents can be detected.   • In this paper, we investigate a robust $H_{\infty}$ state feedback control technique for continuous time bilinear systems with an additive disturbance input. The nonlinear robust $H_{\infty}$control for bilinear systems requires a solution to the state dependent algebraic Riccati equation (SDARE). We present a new robust $H_{\infty}$control technique based on the successive approximation method for solving the SDARE by converting bilinear systems into time-varying linear systems. The proposed control method guarantees robust stability for closed loop bilinear systems. The proposed algorithm is verified by numerical examples.

  • An adaptive predictive control method for SISO and MIMO plants is proposed. In this method, future predictions of process output based on a bilinear CARIMA model are used to calculate the control input. Also, a classical recursive adaptation algorithm, equation error method, is used to decrease the uncertainty of the process model. As a result of the application on distillation process, the ability of the set-point tracking and the disturbance rejection is acceptable to apply to the industrial distillation processes.

  • Recently, an output feedback variable structure control scheme(OFVSCS) is proposed to remove the assumption of full state availability and to make the application of VSC scheme to the high order systems with unmeasurable state variables possible. In this paper, a design method of an output feedback variable structure control system (IOFVSCS) that guarantees the invariance of the sliding mode against process parameter variation and external disturbance is proposed. The IOFVSCS is composed of two components; dynamic switching surface driven by measured I/0 informations and switching control input generator driven by switching surface information and measured output, where the two components are constructed by adopting unknown vector modelling approach. The invariance condition for the IOFVSCS is proved to be the same as that of the conventional VSCS. Simulation results show that the IOFVSCS can be designed to have robust properties better than that of the conventional VSCS in spite that the IOFVSCS is driven by small amount of measured information.

A Study on Hovering Flight Control for a Model Helicopter (모형 헬리콥터 정지비행제어에 관한 연구)

  • A model helicopter has more versatile flight capability than the fixed-wing aircraft and it can be used as an unmaned vehicle in hazardous area. A helicopter, similar to other aircrafts, is an unstable, multi-input multi-output nonlinear system exposed to strong disturbance. So it should be controlled by robust control theories that can be applied to multivariable systems. In this study, motion equations of hovering are established, linearized and transformed into a state equation form. Various parameters are measured and calculated in other to obtain the stability derivatives in the state equation. Hovering flight controller is designed using the digital LQG/LTR(Linear Quadratic Gaussian/Loop Transfer Recovery) control theory. The designed controller is tested by the nonlinear simulations and implemented on an IBM-PC/386. Experiments were carried out on a model helicopter attached to the 3-DOF gimbal. The designed controller showed satisfactory hovering capability to maintain the hovering for more than 40 seconds.

An Algorithm for Robust Noninteracting Control of Ship Propulsion System

  • In this paper, a new algorithm for noninteracting control system design is proposed and applied to ship propulsion system control. For example, if a ship diesel engine is operated by consolidated control with controllable pitch propeller (CPP), the minimum fuel consumption is achieved satisfying the demanded ship speed. For this, it is necessary that the ship is operated on the ideal operating line which satisfies the minimum fuel consumption, and the both pitch angle of CPP and throttle valve angle are controlled simultaneously. In this context of view, this paper gives a controller design method for a ship propulsion system with CPP based on noninteracting control theory. Where, linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach is introduced for the control system design to satisfy the given $H_{\infty}$, constraint in the presence of physical parameter perturbation and disturbance input. To the end, the validity and applicability of this approach are illustrated by the simulation in the all operating ranges.
