We report an unrecorded taxon of genus Viola, V. grypoceras A. Gray var. pubescens Nakai, collected on Jeju Island, Korea. The distribution of this variety was restricted to the northern part of Japan, Hokkaido in particular. It is distinguished from V. grypoceras in that it is densely pilose except on its spur and lateral petals. We gave it the Korean name 'Tul-nak-si-je-bi-kkot' based on the morphological characters. In addition, some illustrations of this variety and a key to the V. grypoceras complex were provided.

The survey methods for confirming the epidemicity and identifying the possible causes of the cancer epidemic can be different from those for infectious diseases. The procedure for confirming whether the outbreak is epidemic or not is quite different. Household survey for identifying cancer cases and residents actually living at the area should be done. Hospital survey for medical record review should be performed to identify all cancer cases among the residents of the outbreak area and confirmig the final diagnoses of the cancer cases. Comparing the level of cancer incidence or mortality with other areas can be done by using Poisson distribution, or calculating SIR (Standard Incidence Ratio) from cumulative incidence rates. Case-control study can be conducted to identify the etiologic, factors of the cancer epidemic and to establish strategy for preventing further recurrence of the outbreak.
The present scientific scenario shows that, the long-distance dispersal of any species plays a major role in population as well as the flow of individual between populations. However, newly recorded plant at Dokdo was confirmed by using morphological and molecular markers of nrDNA and cpDNA. This scientific study has identified the plant species was as a Euonymus hamiltonianus Wall. (Celastraceae). And after careful studies, the laboratory results shows that the distribution of tree species at Dokdo as an Oceanic Island is a meaningful thing because of the inflow of plant in adverse condition of environment such as a shallow soil layers and steep terrain. So it is necessary to continuous monitor for the inflow of non-indigenous plant into Dokdo.
The development of information technology such as the internet has brought about rapidly changes the old medical technology, e-Healthcare has been to raise social issue. The e-Healthcare which new turning point of paradigm in the medical information develops the medical policy in Korea and the technology, the prospective of reverse engineering in internet environment is incurring problems such as distribution of critical information and invasion and infringement of privacy, etc. In this research, we suggest the Role Based Access Control System, HPIP-e-Healthcare Privacy Information Protection, for solving above problem. The HPIP is composed 4 mechanisms such as Consolidate User Identity, Hospital Authorization, Medical Record Access Control, Patient Diagnosis and we are also prototyping the HPIP for feasible approach in the real computing environment.
This study investigated data on beef dietary consumption during the Joseon Dynasty Period, including "the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty", "the Diaries of the Royal Secretariat", and "Ilsongnok". Beef stands for superstitions as well as respect, broad-mindedness, exquisite culinary taste, and is a symbol of taste. In the historic record, we found two extremely opposite trends; specifically, Ugeum (牛禁, forbidding beef consumption and indulgence in beef). On the one hand, believing that they were the rudimentary foundation to Korea's agriculture, Joseon authorities tried to protect cows and bulls as valuable agricultural assets. Meanwhile, there were several officially sanctioned beef consumption events in the Joseon period. These included Jesu (祭需, food for ancestral rites), Daejup (待接, servings), Hasa (下賜, bestowment), and Hogue (犒饋, comforting soldiers with culinary methods). These included offerings to the departed spirits, servings, bestowment, and comforting soldiers with culinary methods. Especially in Joseon's Yeonhang (燕行) Journals, we can see different beef distributions and preferences between Japan and China. Furthermore, The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty even addressed the general issue of beef treatment; special methods for beef processing, beef distribution, tool materials, and prices of beef.

In this paper, we propose a new traceability system that integrates ubiquitous sensor network for monitoring agricultural environment. The proposed system using EPC network can provide informations of agro-livestock products traceability quickly and efficiently. Moreover, this system with RFID Technology gives intelligence of distribution and record. Because of new agro-livestock products traceability system, farm family's income will increase with customer satisfaction.
This paper presents a displacement-based seismic design method with damage control, in which the targets for the considered performance level are set as displacements and a damage distribution is proposed by the designer. The method is based on concepts of basic structural dynamics and of a reference single degree of freedom system associated to the fundamental mode with a bilinear behaviour. Based on the characteristics of this behaviour curve and on the requirements of modal spectral analysis, the stiffness and strength of the structural elements of the structure satisfying the target design displacement are calculated. The formulation of this method is presented together with the formulations of two other existing methods currently considered of practical interest. To illustrate the application of the proposed method, 5 reinforced concrete plane frames: 8, 17 and 25 storey regular, and 8 and 12 storey irregular in elevation. All frames are designed for a seismic demand defined by single earthquake record in order to compare the performances and damage distributions used as design targets with the corresponding results of the nonlinear step by step analyses of the designed structures subjected to the same seismic demand. The performances and damage distributions calculated with these analyses show a good agreement with those postulated as targets.

The genus Ochrolechia is a widespread, lichen genus in Korea. Despite being common, little is known about the species diversity and geographical distribution of Ochrolechia. In this study, we detailed the identification procedure of the genus Ochrolechia in a Korean collection and provided the description of each species. Using 104 specimens collected from 2003 to 2017, we identified four species of the genus Ochrolechia via morphological and/or molecular phylogenetic analysis: O. parellula, O. trochophora, O. yasudae and O. akagiensis. Among them, O. akagiensis had not been previously reported in Korea. Moreover, the species identified as O. frigida and O. tartarea in past studies were corrected as O. yasudae and O. parellula, respectively, based on morphological and/or molecular evidence. Phylogenetic analysis using the internal transcribed spacer regions including 5.8S rRNA gene showed that the four species separated clearly, indicating that the morphological identification corresponds to the phylogenetic identification. We provide a taxonomic key for the four species of the genus Ochrolechia.
Background: Sitting posture may be related to risk factors, including inadequate weight-bearing support, particularly when maintained for long periods. Considering that body weight is loaded in a closed support system composed of the seat, backrest, floor and working surface, the aims of the present study were to describe the development of an ergonomic sitting workstation to continuously record weight-bearing at the seat, chair, backrest, work surface, and floor and to test its measurement properties: reproducibility, criterion-related validity, and sensitivity. Methods: Rigid bodies (1 to 30 kg) and participant weights were recorded to evaluate the workstation measurement properties. Results: Rigid body tests showed variation values less than 0.050 kg on reproducibility test and errors below 5% of measured value on criterion validity tests. Participant tests showed no statistically significant differences between repeated measures ($p{\geq}0.40$), errors were less than 2% of participant weights an sensitivity presented statistically significant changes (p = 0.007). Conclusion: The sitting workstation proposed showed to be reliable, valid and sensitive for use in future ergonomic studies to evaluate the sitting posture.

Climate change due to global warming and changes in land use increase the development time and distribution, as well as the abundance, of mosquitoes, thereby negatively affecting human life and health. In this study, we investigated the habitat characteristics of mosquito occurrence sites in Danwon-gu, Ansan city, Korea, based on a daily record of civil pest complaints lodged at the Danwon-gu Community Health Center. We considered two types of factors (natural and artificial) known to affect mosquito occurrence. We confirmed a total of 554 cases of mosquito occurrence from March 2014 to August 2017. The total study area was $49.11km^2$, with urban areas constituting the largest proportion. Additionally, we investigated habitat preferences of mosquitoes in terms of terrain factors; generally, mosquitoes occurred at low elevations and on low slopes. Regarding the preference of oviposition sites, mosquitoes occurred at higher rates near streams and crops lands. The rate of mosquito occurrence tended to increase in areas with dense human populations. Regarding climatic factors, the rate of mosquito occurrence increased in areas with high temperature and low precipitation.
