Metal Matrix Composite(MMC) Layered Armour System (금속복합판재 적용 다층 구조 방호성능 평가)

  • Analysis has been performed for the penetration of a long-rod into MMC/Ceramic layered armour system with several shot test and a series of simulations. Two types of MMC plate have been fabricated by a liquid pressing method; A356/45%vol.%SiCp with a uniform distribution of SiC particle and Al7075/45%vol.B4Cp with B4C particle. The mechanical properties were measured with the high-speed split Hopkins bar test, hardness test and compression test. The popular Simplified Johnson-Cook model was adopted to represent the material characteristics for FEM simulations. The performance of the MMC applied armour system has been made by comparing with the semi-infinite mild steel target using the depth of penetration(DOP). The results show that placing ceramic front layer provides a certain gain in protection, and that placing another ductile front layer provides a further gain. The application of MMC is found to be attractive.

STRESS DISTRIBUTION OF THREE NITI ROTARY FILES UNDER BENDING AND TORSIONAL CONDITIONS USING 3-DIMENSIONAL FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS (세가지 니켈 티타늄 파일의 휨과 비틀림 조건에서의 응력 분포에 관한 3차원 유한요소 연구)

  • Flexibility and fracture properties determine the performance of NiTi rotary instruments. The purpose of this study was to evaluate how geometrical differences between three NiTi instruments affect the deformation and stress distributions under bending and torsional conditions using finite element analysis. Three NiTi files (ProFile .06 / #30, F3 of ProTaper and ProTaper Universal) were scanned using a Micro-CT. The obtained structural geometries were meshed with linear, eight-noded hexahedral elements. The mechanical behavior (deformation and von Mises equivalent stress) of the three endodontic instruments were analyzed under four bending and rotational conditions using ABAQUS finite element analysis software. The nonlinear mechanical behavior of the NiTi was taken into account. The U-shaped cross sectional geometry of ProFile showed the highest flexibility of the three file models. The ProTaper, which has a convex triangular cross-section, was the most stiff file model. For the same deflection, the ProTaper required more force to reach the same deflection as the other models, and needed more torque than other models for the same amount of rotation. The highest von Mises stress value was found at the groove area in the cross-section of the ProTaper Universal. Under torsion, all files showed highest stresses at their groove area. The ProFile showed highest von Mises stress value under the same torsional moment while the ProTaper Universal showed the highest value under same rotational angle.

  • The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) like US Global Positioning System (GPS) and EU Galileo are based on providing precise time and frequency synchronized ranging signals. Because of the exploitation of very precise timing signals these GNSS are used to provide both navigation and time distribution services. Moreover, because the positioning accuracy will improve as more satellites become available, we should expect that a combination of Galileo and GPS will provide better performance than those of both systems separately. However, Galileo will not use the same time reference as GPS and thus, a time difference arises - the GPS-Galileo Time Offset (GGTO). The navigation solution calculated by receivers using signals from both navigation systems will consequently contain a supplementary error if the GGTO is not accounted for. In this paper, we compared GPS Time (GPST) with Galileo Sytem Time (GST) and analyzed the effects of GGTO on positioning accuracy by simulation test. And then we also analyzed the characteristics of two representative GGTO correction methods such as the navigation message based method at system level and the estimation method at user level and propose the conceptual design of the novel correction method being capable of preventing previous method's problems.

Mechanical Properties and Field Implementation of Floor Mortar Incorporated with VAE Polymer (VAE 폴리머를 이용한 모르타르 바닥재의 역학적 특성과 현작 적용성)

  • Recently, the importance of the industrial warehouse floor has been increasing due to the development of the distribution and logistics industry. In this present study, an early-hardening polymer floor mortar which can compensate for the limitation of conventional cement based floor mortar regarding fluidity and long curing time was developed. In order to achieve the early-hardening of mortar characteristic ultra rapid hardening cement was used as binder. Four types of mixture proportions in accordance with the vinyl acetate ethylene(VAE) polymer contents with range from 10% to 20% and the other proto proportion without VAE polymer were designed. Mechanical experiments including the fluidity test, compressive strength test, bending test, bond test, and abrasion test were conducted for all mixture proportions. From the flow test result, it was possible to achieve the high flow with 250 mm by controlling the amount of superplasticizer. The incorporation of VAE polymer was found to affect the compressive strength reduction, however, the flexural strength was higher than that of the proto mixture, and it was evaluated to increase the compressive strength / flexural strength ratio. Moreover, at least 2.6 times higher bond strength and more than 4 times higher abrasion resistance were secured. From the mechanical experiments results, the optimum mixing ratio of the VAE polymer was determined to be 10%. As a result of application and monitoring, it shows that it has excellent resistance to cracking, discoloration, impact, and scratch as well as bond performance compared to the cement based floor mortar.

  • Numerical simulations were carried out to investigate the flow velocity changes in the flow field due to the variation in the thickness of the upper part of the shroud tidal power generation system. In this study, it was performed under constant flow velocity condition. In addition, performance analysis of shroud was performed under the same conditions. As the height of the upper part increases, the flow velocity rate gradually increases, and it tends to decrease at a certain height. As a result of analyzing the shape of the blade and the shape of the blade combined with the shroud, the torque of the blade increased due to the increase of the flow rate by the shroud system. It is expected that the shape of the structure obtained by this study and the analysis of the flow velocity distribution in the flow field can provide the data necessary for the development of an efficient shroud tidal power generation system.

  • The impact energy absorbing is a very important characteristic of an aircraft to enhance the survivability of occupants when an aircraft is under the survivable accident such as an emergency landing condition. The impact energy is generally transmitted into the occupant and absorbed through a landing gear, a subfloor (lower structure of fuselage), and a seat. The characteristic of crash energy absorbing of a subfloor depends on the type of an aircraft, a shape of structure, and an applied material. Therefore, the study of crashworthiness characteristics of a subfloor structure is very important work to improve the safety of an aircraft. In this study, a finite element model of a narrow body fuselage section for the 80~90 seats regional aircraft was developed and crash simulation was executed using an explicit finite element analysis. Through survey of the impact energy distribution of each structural part of a fuselage and floor-level acceleration response, the crashworthiness characteristics and performance was evaluated.

A Study on the Smart Home Safety Management System Based on NIALM (NIALM 기반의 스마트 홈 안전관리시스템에 관한 연구)

  • Due to spatial problems and system size,conventional measurement methods used to acquire the information needed for existing electrical energy and management have been limited to new buildings or areas where replacement is possible. This electric load management method is problematic when applying it to energy and safety management of vulnerable areas or existing homes or offices. The problem with installing a measurement module in every branch is that the system is too large. Even if the measurement module is installed, the type of load is not recognized, and efficient management is not performed. In particular, it is very difficult to apply it to traditional markets and backward facilities in Korea. In this paper, we apply NIALM technology and arc detection technology to solve these problems and verify the feasibility of NIALM for normal arc generation. Also, based on the verification results, we propose a new smart home safety management system that can effectively manage electrical safety and that can be applied to conventional market and existing home safety management systems. The proposed system conducts a comparative performance test with an existing safety management system. In addition, it achieves 95% or more load recognition for four loads, which is impossible in 40% of the existing systems, and the arc detection function was confirmed.

The Study for Performance Analysis of Software Reliability Model using Fault Detection Rate based on Logarithmic and Exponential Type (로그 및 지수형 결함 발생률에 따른 소프트웨어 신뢰성 모형에 관한 신뢰도 성능분석 연구)

  • Software reliability in the software development process is an important issue. Infinite failure NHPP software reliability models presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this paper, reliability software cost model considering logarithmic and exponential fault detection rate based on observations from the process of software product testing was studied. Adding new fault probability using the Goel-Okumoto model that is widely used in the field of reliability problems presented. When correcting or modifying the software, finite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process model. For analysis of software reliability model considering the time-dependent fault detection rate, the parameters estimation using maximum likelihood estimation of inter-failure time data was made. The logarithmic and exponential fault detection model is also efficient in terms of reliability because it (the coefficient of determination is 80% or more) in the field of the conventional model can be used as an alternative could be confirmed. From this paper, the software developers have to consider life distribution by prior knowledge of the software to identify failure modes which can be able to help.

  • The characteristic of the backbond for distribution service in WMNs(Wireless Mesh Networks) is that WMNs has multiple links connected to mesh points and dynamic routing protocol such as AODV to establish routing paths. When the terminal is communicating with the service through new AP, mobile nodes can resume communication by setting only the link between new AP and mobile node in the case of existing WLANs, but WMNs needs path establishment process in multihop networks. Our goal in this paper is to support the seamless communication service by eliminating path establishment delay in WMNs. We present the method that eliminates the handover latency by predicting the location of handover using GPS information and making the paths to their destination in advance. We implement mesh nodes using embedded board that contains proposed handover method and evaluate performance of handover latency. Our experiment shows that handover delay time is decreased from 2.47 to 0.05 seconds and data loss rate is decreased from 20~35% in the existing method to 0~10% level.

  • The advancement in technology including transportation and information communication has accelerated the flow of supplies, and the importance of the national logistics policy has increased following the expansion of the regional range of logistics to a national range. The rapid growth of the domestic logistics market results in the deficit of logistics facilities, inefficient operation of logistics facilities, and a complicated distribution structure. It has precipitated a plan aimed at efficiency improvement by building base logistics facilities, but this market is now undergoing difficulties due to low performance. Many studies on the revitalization of base logistics facilities have been conducted, but a causal analysis focusing on the function overlap of private logistics businesses has been absent. Therefore, this study has analyzed the function overlap of logistics facilities and the irrationality of the system, which resulted from the lost function of Inland Freight bases in the Yeongnam region. By suggesting the cause of disuse of base logistics complexes from the function overlap in the ground transportation of domestic freight, the study can provide the policy implication for the national logistics infrastructure.
