유동층 반응기 희박상 내 탄소나노튜브 응집체의 크기 및 형상 측정 (Measurement of Carbon Nanotube Agglomerates Size and Shape in Dilute Phase of a Fluidized Bed)

  • CNT 유동층 반응기(내경 0.15 m, 높이 2.6 m) 희박상 내 CNT 입자(평균입도 $291{\mu}m$, 벌크밀도 $72.9kg/m^3$)의 거동을 확인하기 위해 레이저 슬릿광 형상 측정법을 이용하여, CNT 응집체의 크기 및 형태를 측정하였다. 기포유동층 조건에서 CNT 반응기 내 축방향 고체체류량 분포는 하부 농후상과 상부 희박상을 갖는 S자 형태를 보였다. 기체 유속이 증가할수록 비산되는 CNT 응집체의 Heywood 직경과 Feret 직경이 증가하였고, 응집체 내 CNT 입자수가 증가하였다. 또한, 기체의 유속이 증가할수록 CNT 응집체의 종횡비는 증가하고, 원형도는 감소하였다. CNT 응집체의 원마도와 견고도는 기체의 유속이 증가할수록 감소하였다. 응집체의 형상 분석 정보에 기반한 희박상 내 응집체 형성 원인을 제안하였다.

서울시내 주거지역 미세먼지의 유전독성 영향 (Genotoxic Effect of Air-borne Particulate Matter in Residential Area of Seoul City)

  • Ambient air particulate matters are classified into two distinct modes in sire distribution, namely the coarse and fine particles. Correlation between high particulate concentration and adverse effect on human populations has long been recognized. However, the toxicology of these adverse efforts has not been clarified. We investigated the genotoxic effect of PM 2.5 collected from urban area in Seoul by comet assay (A549 cells), CBMN assay (CHO-K1 cells) and EROD-microbioassay (H4IIE cells). Results from in vitro micronucleus assay and comet assay showed that PM 2.5 samples collected from traffic area, residential area and indoor air induced chromosomal damage and DNA breakage in a non-cytotoxic dose. The complex mixture effect of these PM 2.5 extracts was quantified by EROD-microbioassay in terms of its bio-TEQ (biologiral -TCDD equivalent concentration) which was 70.87$\pm$28.07, 93.55$\pm$21.80 and 14.31 $\pm$ 1.10 ng/g-PM 2.5 in traffic area, residental area and indoor air samples, respectively. Conclusively, we suggested that PM 2.5 collected from traffic area and residential area contains CYPIA inducer and genotoxic materials.

연속 성장법으로 성장된 Mn-Zn Ferrite 단결정 특성 및 결함 (Properties and defects of Mn-Zn Ferrite single crystals grown by the modified process)

  • Mn-Zn Ferrite는 단결정을 성장하기 위하여 용융하는 동안 불균질 용융과 ZnO휘발의 고유특성을 갖는 재료이다. 그 결과로, 결정성장축을 따라 양이온의 분포가 불균일 하게 된고 또한 기존의 Bridgman법에서는 도가니내에서 용융대가 장시간 유지됨으로써 백금입자가 결정안으로 침입하게된다. 이들은 훼라이트의 자기적 성질을 저하시키는 성질을 갖고 있다. 그러나 새로운 성장법에서는 이러한 단점들을 극복하고 양질의 단결정을 얻기 위하여 결정성장 인자들의 관계를 고찰하였으며 그 인자들은 다음과 같다 : 도가니내의 melt 높이, melt의 표면장력과 밀도, 계면에서의 melt거동, 도가니와 고액계면의 형상, 원료공급속도, 결정성장속도. 아울러, 성장된 결정의 조성을 분석하였을 때 초기조성과 비교하여 $\textrm{Fe}_2\textrm{O}_3$ 1.5 mol%, MnO, Zn 2.0 mol% 이내로 조성 변동은 각각 억제되었고 성장결정면 (110)에서 화확적인 etching 법을 이용하여 광학현미경을 통해 결정내부등을 관찰하였으며, 자기적 특성등을 측정하였다.

고상법으로 합성한 YVO4:Eu3+ 적색 형광체의 비대칭비와 발광 특성 (Asymmetry Ratio and Emission Properties of YVO4:Eu3+ Red Phosphors Synthesized by Solid-state Reaction Method)

  • $Y_{1-x}VO_4:Eu_x^{3+}$ red phosphors were synthesized with changing the mol ratios of $Eu^{3+}$ ions by using the solid-state reaction method. The crystalline structure of phosphors was found to be a tetragonal system with the maximum diffraction intensity at $25.02^{\circ}$. The grain particles showed the truncated hexagonal patterns with a very homogeneous size distribution at 0.05 mol of $Eu^{3+}$ ion. The excitation spectra of the phosphor ceramics were composed of a broad band centered at 303 nm and weak narrow multilines peaked in the range of 360-420 nm. The dominant emission spectrum was the strong red emission centered at 619 nm due to the $^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_2$ electric dipole transition. The experimental results suggest that the optimum doping mol ratio of $Eu^{3+}$ ions for preparing the red phosphors is 0.10 mol with the asymmetry ratio of 5.21.

전기폭발법에 의한 CU/CUO 나노분말의 제조 및 분말특성 (Synthesis and Characteristics of CU/CUO Nanopowders by Pulsed Wire Evaporativn(PWE) Method)

  • Both Cu and Cu-oxide nanopowders have great potential as conductive paste, solid lubricant, effective catalysts and super conducting materials because of their unique properties compared with those of commercial micro-sized ones. In this study, Cu and Cu-oxide nanopowders were prepared by Pulsed Wire Evaporation (PWE) method which has been very useful for producing nanometer-sized metal, alloy and ceramic powders. In this process, the metal wire is explosively converted into ultrafine particles under high electric pulse current (between $10^4$ and $10^{ 6}$ $A/mm^2$) within a micro second time. To prevent full oxidations of Cu powder, the surface of powder has been slightly passivated with thin CuO layer. X-ray diffraction analysis has shown that pure Cu nanopowders were obtained at $N_2$ atmosphere. As the oxygen partial pressure increased in $N_2$ atmosphere, the gradual phase transformation occurred from Cu to $Cu_2$O and finally CuO nanopowders. The spherical Cu nanopowders had a uniform size distribution of about 100nm in diameter. The Cu-oxide nanopowders were less than 70nm with sphere-like shape and their mean particle size was 54nm. Smaller size of Cu-oxide nanopowders compared with that of the Cu nanopowders results from the secondary explosion of Cu nanopowders at oxygen atmosphere. Thin passivated oxygen layer on the Cu surface has been proved by XPS and HRPD.

유동층 연소로에서 국내탄 회재의 마모 특성 (Attrition Characteristics of Korean Antracite Ash in Fluidized Bed Combustors)

  • ASTM D5757-95에 따른 입자 마모 측정기와 lab-scale 유동층 연소로에서 국내 무연탄 회재와 모래의 입자 마모 특성을 실험하였다. 기체유속에 따른 마모 특성으로 비산 회재의 입도 분포, 마모 속도, 마모율 등을 측정하였다. 일반적으로 유동층 층물질로 사용되는 모래보다 회재가 마모에 취약해 비산 회재의 발생이 높았으며 마모지수의 경우 5배 정도 높게 나타났다. 기체 유속 변화에 따라 입자의 마모에 의해 미세 입자의 생성이 지속적으로 발생하였으며 다음과 같은 식을 따른다. $$\frac{dW}{dt}=-3.18{\times}10^{-7}(U-U_{mf})W$$.

희토류 이온(Er/Yb)이 도핑된 LaPO4 나노입자의 합성과 발광특성 (Preparation and Luminescent Properties of LaPO4:Re (Re=Er, Yb) Nanoparticles)

  • Due to the luminescence by$ Er ^{ 3+}$ activator, Er-doped $LaPO_4$ powders can be applied for optical amplification materials. In this study, $LaPO_4$:Er nanoparticles were synthesized in solution system using a high-boiling coordinating solvent and their properties were investigated through various spectroscopic techniques. The nanoparticles were to take a single phase of monazite structure by a X-ray diffraction analysis and to have the 5-6 nm of particles size with narrow size distribution by a TEM. And it was confirmed by the EA and FT-IR analyses that the surfaces of nanoparticles are coordinated with the solvent molecules, which will possibly keep from agglomerating between LaPO$_4$:Er nanoparticles. In the emission spectrum of $LaPO_4$:Er nanoparticle at NIR region, on the other hand, it was measured that the emission intensity is very weak, which is due to the transition from $^4$$I_{(13/2)}$ to $^4$$I_{(15/2)}$ of $Er^{3+ }$ion. It was interpreted that the weak luminescence of $LaPO_4$:Er is originated from the hydroxyl groups adsorbed on the surfaces of the nanoparticles, because OH group acts as an efficient quencher for the $^4$$I_{(13/2)}$ \longrightarrow $^4$$I_{(15/2)}$ emission of $Er^{3+}$ activator. But the co-doping of Yb$^{3+}$ as a sensitizer in this nanoparticle results in the increase of the emission intensity at 1539 nm due to the effective energy transfer from $Yb^{3+}$ to $Er^{3+}$ . In addition, the synthesized nanoparticles exhibited good dispersibility with some polymers and effective luminescence at NIR region.n.

서해안 갯벌 점착성 퇴적물 침강속도 곡선식의 재검토 (Re-estimation of Settling Velocity Profile Equations for Muddy Cohesive Sediments in West Coasts)

  • 미세점착성 퇴적물 침강속도의 정량적 산정은 퇴적학적 측면에서뿐만 아니라 환경공학적 측면에서도 매우 중요한 과제이다. 미세점착성 퇴적물의 침강특성은 입자간의 충돌과 입자간의 점착으로 인하여 발생하는 응집에 의해 크게 영향을 받는다. 한편, 미세점착성 퇴적물의 응집강도는 광물질 구성, 입경분포, 유기물 함량 등으로 묘사되는 퇴적물의 물리ㆍ화학적 기본 특성에 따라 크게 변화하고, 이러한 물리ㆍ화학적 기본특성은 또한 지역적으로 변화하므로, 한 특정지역에서의 점착성 퇴적물의 침강특성은 현장관측이나 실내실험을 통하여 관측되어야만 한다. 본 연구에서는 최근 수행된 새만금 및 군산해역 점착성 퇴적물의 침강속도 관측 결과를 이용하여, 기존의 침강속도 경험식을 검토하고, 새로운 침강속도 곡선식이 개발된다. 새로 개발된 침강속도 곡선식은 기존의 복잡한 곡선식에 비해 단순하며, 측정치로부터의 계수산정이 편리하고, 또한 측정치의 변화 경향을 더욱 잘 나타낸다.

공기중 납입자의 크기 특성과 혈액중 납농도와의 관계에 의한 허용농도 측정 (Estimation of Occupational Health Standard by Relationship between Airborne Lead Concentration by Particle Size and Lead in Blood)

  • This study was conducted to investigate distribution of lead particles by operation of industry, to evaluate the effect of particle size on the absorption to workers, and to recommend the Occupational Health Standard for lead. Total lead concentrations in the secondary smelting industry were higher than those in the battery and litharge manufacturing industry. Total lead concentrations in other industries except radiator manufacturing industry exceeded the standard of $50{\mu}g/m^3$. Only radiator manufacturing industry indicated lead concentrations significantly lower than those in other industries(p<0.05). Average blood lead level of workers was $85.1{\mu}g/dl$ in secondary smelting manufacturing, $51.3{\mu}g/dl$ in the battery manufacturing, and below $40{\mu}g/dl$ in the litharge and radiator manufacturing industry. Blood lead levels of workers by industry were significantly different(p<0.05). From relationship between airborne lead concentrations by size and lead in blood, confidence limits of airborne lead concentration equivalent to $40{\mu}g/dl$ of permissible limit in blood, was $147.9-489.8{\mu}g/m^3$ as total lead and $28.8-79.4{\mu}g/m^3$ as ACGIH-RPM. It is recommended that two separate occupational health standards for lead should be established by particle size. Airborne concentration of $150{\mu}g/m^3$ as fatal lead dust and $30{\mu}g/m^3$ as respirable lead dust was recommended.

겨울철 가습 및 환기에 따른 교실내 쾌적환경 분석 (Analysis of Comfortable Environment in the Classroom with Humidification and Ventilation in Winter)

  • In this paper, the effects of ventilation and humidification on thermal comfort and indoor air quality(IAQ) were evaluated in a classroom when a heat pump system was operated in winter. Thermal comfort parameters, such as temperature, relative humidity, globe temperature and air velocity, were measured at 9 points in the classroom. The concentration of $CO_2$ and total suspended particles(TSP) in the classroom were measured in order to analyze IAQ. Temperature distribution in the classroom was decreased by $2{\sim}5^{\circ}C$ when the ventilation system and the humidifier were operated. When the relative humidity was adjusted to 60% by operating the humidifier and the ventilation system, the predicted mean vote(PMV) in the classroom was within the comfortable range of $-0.5{\sim}0.5$. When the ventilation system was operated, the average concentration of $CO_2$ and TSP were decreased by 645 ppm and 0.17 $mg/m^3$, respectively. This paper suggests the humidification and ventilation conditions to maintain the comfortable environment in the school classroom in winter experimentally.
