A Study on Development of Velocity Measuring Method by PTV-AOM (PTV-AOM을 이용한 속도계측 기법의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Instantaneous velocity distribution within coaxial circular pipe for measurement velocity of high speed is acquired simultaneously by applying the 2-dimensional PTV system consisting of a pulse generator(AOM:Acousto-Optical Modulator), a continuous-output laser and a PC image grabber together with experimental apparatus. The basic mechanism of AOM and vector identification method and performance-related image processing techniques are discussed. Representative measuring regions $90{\times}90$mm are selected and instantaneous vectors are represented and fully developed turbulent flow of maximum velocity up to about 1.0 m/sec is obtained.

  • Water jet trajectories and velocity deficits from a high pressurize nozzles were experimentally observed. In this article, several parameters affecting plugging and erosion onto the steam generator tube were quantitatively analyzed. Visualization, velocity distribution, and spray growth rate with different nozzle configurations have been mainly focused using a 2-D PDPA (Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) system. The results indicated that trajectories along the centerline regardless of their momentum has its potential core region. However, the phenomena from the peripheral part need to be meticulosly considered. Accordingly, it is evident that quantitative velocity deficits at the outer region are outstanding due to the aerodynamical drag and entrainment.

  • In this paper, we designed the aspheric lens by mathematical methods which are solved by refractive index. Based on these mathematical method, we manufactured the aspheric lens. Because of the usefulness of manufacturing, we used the acryl as the material. And we used a high speed machine to manufacture the aspheric lens. Also it sits in judgment the aberration of spherical distribution by using the grid fringe. Asource of laser produced by laser sheet generator passed the optical system of the aspheric lens. Though a character is to verify that the accuracy of the aspheric lens by experiment of the straight character.

  • An ultrasonic pulse-echo diagnostic system for tissue characterization with the estimation of attenuation coefficients is developed and its performance has been examined by system implementation. The system divided into the ultrasonic generator, A/D converter, data communication, computer for signal processing. The methods for estimating the spatial distribution of acoustic attenuation coefficients using the moment analysis are proposed. The experimental results indicate the potential of the methods for tissue characterization.

  • This paper deals with a computer simulation for the stochastic inventory system in which the decision rules are associated with the problem of forecasting uncertain demand, lead time, and amount of shortages. The model consists of mainly three parts; part I$\cdots$the model calculates the expected demand during lead time through the built-in subrou tine program for random number generator and the probability distribution of the demand, part II$\cdots$the model calculates all the possible expected shortages per lead time period, part III$\cdots$finally the model calculates all the possible total inventory cost over the simulation period. These total inventory costs are compared for searching the optimal inventory cost with the best ordering quantity and reorder point. An application example of the simulation program is given.

  • We consider a multi-server queueing system without buffer and with two types of customers as a model of operation of a mobile network cell. Customers arrive at the system in the marked Markovian arrival flow. The service times of customers are exponentially distributed with parameters depending on the type of customer. A part of the available servers is reserved exclusively for service of first type customers. Customers who do not receive service upon arrival, can make repeated attempts. The system operation is influenced by random factors, leading to a change of the system parameters, including the total number of servers and the number of reserved servers. The behavior of the system is described by the multi-dimensional Markov chain. The generator of this Markov chain is constructed and the ergodicity condition is derived. Formulas for computation of the main performance measures of the system based on the stationary distribution of the Markov chain are derived. Numerical examples are presented.

  • This paper is investigated to variation of wave power generation operation rate, operating capacity and output with the wave conditions represented by wave height-period window. By the use of the long-term wave data from 1979 to 2002 which is provided by Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute(KORDI), we calculated the monthly variation of significant wave height(Hs), zero-up crossing period(Tz) and distribution of wave appearance rate. And using the same wave data, it was charted the Hs-Tz and wave-energy scatter diagrams.

  • Rapid depletion of fossil based oil, coal and gas reserves and its greater demand day by day necessitates the search for other alternatives. Severe environmental impacts caused by the fossil fire based power plants and the escalating fuel costs are the major challenges faced by the electricity supply industry. Integration of Distributed Generators (DG) especially, wind and solar systems to the grid has been steadily increasing due to the concern of clean environment. This paper focuses on a new simple and fast load flow algorithm named Backward Forward Sweep Algorithm (BFSA) for finding the voltage profile and power losses with the integration of various sizes of DG at different locations. Genetic Algorithm (GA) based BFSA is adopted in finding the optimal location and sizing of DG to attain an improved voltage profile and considerable reduced power loss. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is more efficient in finding the optimal location and sizing of DG in 15-bus radial distribution system (RDS).The authenticity of the placement of optimized DG is assured with other DG placement techniques.

  • The study about three-phase synthetic making test using DC power has been performed in order to increase the making test capacity on Vacuum Circuit Breaker. And, it made possible to solve the limitations that short-circuit testing facilities can not fulfill the testing requirements of VCB exceeding three-phase 36[kV] 31.5[kA]. By using DC power and high speed spark-gap switch, this method made the equivalence with the pre-arc that occurred during the making process under the fault condition of power system. As results, KERI(Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute) could have capacity to carry out type test for VCB under three-phase 52[kV] 40[kV], which satisfies the IEC Standard.

  • Hyperthermia for the treatment of cancer has been introduced for a long time and the biological effect for the use of hyperthermia to malignant tumors has been well established and encouraging clinical results has been observed. Unfortunately, the engineering or technical aspects of hyperthermia for the deep seated tumors has not been satisfactory. We have researched and developed the radiofrequency capacitive hyperthermia system (GHT- RF8). It was composed with 8-9 MHZ RF generator, capacitive electrode, matching system, cooling system, temperature measuring system and control computer. The thermal profile was investigated in agar phantom, animals and in human tumors, which was heated with capacitive RF device.
