It is widely recognised that changes in size and isolation of habitat patches have a negative impact on species richness and the distribution and persistence of populations. Thus, the aim of the research was to analyze the change, distribution and spatial characteristics of woodlands in an urban fringe landscape. The results indicated that there was a common trend of woodland loss across all landscape types while no new woodlands were established during 1976 and 2009. Small patches (less than 5 ha in size) were particularly vulnerable to and more likely to disappear due to human activities such as urbanisation. Changes in woodland cover were clearly observed between 1976 and 2009. Loss of many woodlands was caused by residential and infrastructural developments. As a result, woodlands were becoming smaller and more isolated. This trend probably had adverse effects on biodiversity. This woodland information can be used to identify the potential and specific needs for conservation planning in rapidly developing urban areas.
Vertical and horizontal distribution and seasonal changes of fine roots as well as inorganic nitrogen content in soil were determined in Quercus mongolica and Quercus acutissima stands in Mt. Taemosan, Seoul. The vertical distribution of fine rooth phytomass showed a power-functional decrease as descending soil depth. Fine root phytomass was 170 g $DM/m^2$(46%) and 225 g $DM/m^2$(47%) in top soil of 5 cm depth, and 370 g $DM/m^2$ and 480 g $DM/m^2$ from soil surface to 50 cm depth in Q. mongolica and Q. acutissima stands, respectively. Fine roots in relation to the distance from the nearest tree were evenly distributed horizontally in both stands. Fine roots phytomass in top soil of 5 cm depth reached a peak in June, and thereafter decreased gradually in both stands. Patterns of seasonal changes in fine root phytomass were closely related to inorganic nitrogen and moisture content.
This study was performed to provide important basic data for the preservation and management of Scopura laminata, a species endemic to Korea, by elucidating the spatial characteristics of its present, potential, and future distribution areas. Currently, this species is found in the Odaesan National Park area of South Korea and has been known to be restricted in its habitat due to its poor mobility, as even fully grown insects do not have wings. Utilizing the MaxEnt model, 20 collection points around Odaesan National Park were assessed to analyze and predict spatial distribution characteristics. The precision of the MaxEnt model was excellent, with an AUC value of 0.833. Variables affecting the potential distribution area of S. laminata by more than 10% included the range of annual temperature, seasonality of precipitation, and precipitation of the driest quarter, in order of greatest to least impact. Compared to the current potential distribution area, no significant difference in the overall habitable area was predicted for the 2050s or 2070s. It was, however, demonstrated that the potential habitable area would be reduced in the 2050s by up to 270.3 km from the current area of 403.9 km; further, no potential habitable area was anticipated by the 2070s according to our predictive model. Taken together, it is anticipated that this endemic species could be significantly affected by climate changes, and hence effective countermeasures are strongly warranted for the preservation of habitats and species management.
Purpose: Age estimation is often used in the identification of living persons. Various methods are used for age estimation using teeth, and there are many studies on the methodology. But the study of changes in the social aspects of age estimation with the passage of times is still insufficient. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the age estimation cases in the social aspects and to investigate the changes of age estimation cases in Jeollabuk-do. Methods: From January 2008 to December 2015, 76 cases of age estimation were collected. The collected data were organized and analyzed. The distribution of patients by age and year, the difference between alleged and registered age, the purpose of age estimation, and regional distribution were examined. In addition, we compared the previous study which analyzed the age estimation cases in Jeollabuk-do from 2000 to 2007. Results: According to the distribution by age, the age distribution was the largest in the 50s and 60s, with 69.8%. The most reason to correct age was related to welfare benefits (38.2%), and most of the people who corrected for welfare benefits were over 50 years old. The age correction for purpose of welfare benefits existed every year during the study period. As the result of comparison with previous study, total number of age estimation cases was decreased very sharply, and distribution by age group was also changed. Conclusions: Changes in age estimation cases were observed when compared to the previous study. A significant decrease in the total number of age estimation cases was observed, but the number of age estimation in the 50s did not decrease. Although the total number of age estimation requests decreases, age estimation in the elderly are likely to persist. Thus, it is necessary to study new age estimation methods suitable for the elderly.

Engine oil is an oil used for lubrication of various internal combustion engines. The main function is to reduce wear on moving parts; it also cleans, inhibits corrosion, improves sealing, and cools the engine by carrying heat away from moving parts. In engines, there are parts which move against each other. Otherwise, the friction wastes the useful power by converting the kinetic energy to heat. Those parts were worn away, which could lead to lower efficiency and degradation of the engine. It increases fuel consumption, decreases power output, and can induce the engine failure. This study was conducted to evaluate the relation between engine oil property changes and engine performance for the diesel engine. This test was performed by using 12L, 6 cylinder, heavy duty engines. Low SAPS 10W30 engine oil (two type engine oils) was used. Test procedure and method was in accordance with the modified CEC L-57-T97 (OM441LA) method. In this study, TAN, TBN, KV and metal components, engine power, blowby gas, A_F were presented to evaluate the relation with engine oil property changes and engine performance. TAN, TBN, KV and metal We found that the components were generally increased but engine performance did not change. This results mean that property changes did not affect on engine performance because those were not enough to affect engine performance.
This study providesd an empirical analysis of trip-chaining behavior and its application to transportation planning. In the empirical analysis, changes in trip-chaining patterns since 1970 have been examined and details of current trip-chaining behavior as they describe shopping trip-chaining behavior has changed. Individual trip-chaining has become longer and complex. It appears that the average number of trips per chains has substantially increased over the past 20 years. An increased number of trips in chains means fewer home-based trips. Changes in trip-chaining behavior have several consequences. Important consequences are for transportation and land-use planning. Up to now trips have been treated as if they are independent clusters of home-to-destination-to-home; this approach has not usually taken into account the trip-chaining behavior of individuals. this calls for a different approach to at least the trip generation and trip distribution part of transportation planning. In this study, application of trip-chaining behavior to trip distribution model formulation is proposed and its calibration results are presented.

Global warming also has effects on the phenology. The limitation of phenology study is an acquisition of phenology data. Satellite images analysis can make up limitation of monitering data. This study is to analyze spatial distribution and characteristics of phenology changes using MODIS images. Research data collected images of 16 day intervals of 11 years from year 2001 to 2010. The data analyzed 228 images of 11 years. It can figure out changes of phenology by analyzing enhanced vegetation index of MODIS image. We made a comparison between changes of phenology and flowering of cherry blossoms. As a results, Startup of season spatially was getting late from southern area to north area. Startup of Phenology was foreshortened 13 days during 11 years, and change ratios of cherry blooming was getting more faster from 0.18 dat to 0.22 day per year during that same period.
This study investigates the spatial distribution of the degree of water pollutants in Han River using data obtained by the water pollution observation stations. This study estimates a non -parametric kernel density function for each water pollutants, and tests a significant difference between two estimated distribution functions. Next, Generalized Entropy inequality indices are evaluated and this research tests difference of inequality indices between two years using bootstrapping method. Lastly in a dynamic of view, it is analyzed that there are significant changes in the ranking of water pollution level. Estimation results show that the degree of inequality in spatial distribution of water pollution tends to be stable or decreasing for last 15 years in a great part of water pollutants, and ranking of water pollution level hardly changes in Han River.

Concrete changes its internal moisture distribution depending on the external environment, and changes in the condition of the material's interior over time affect the performance of the concrete. These effects are closely related to the long-term behavior and durability of concrete, and the degree of deterioration varies from climate to climate in each region. In this study, we use actual climate data from each region with distinct climates. A multi-physical analysis based on the method was conducted to predict the difference and degree of deterioration rate by climate.
