난류조건에서의 점착성 유사 이군집 응집 모형 적용성 평가 (Evaluation of the Two Class Population Balance Equation for Predicting the Bimodal Flocculation of Cohesive Sediments in Turbulent Flow)

  • 이군집 응집현상은 수자원환경에서 점착성 유사가 결합-해체의 과정을 통해 응집핵-응집체의 이군집 입자크기분포 (Biomodal Floc Size Distribution)를 형성하는 일련의 과정을 의미한다. 본 연구는 저난류 및 고난류 두 가지 조건에서 수행한 응집-침전관 실험결과를 바탕으로 이군집 응집모형(TCPBE: Two Class Population Balance Equation)의 적용성을 단일군집 응집모형(SCPBE: Single Class Population Balance Equation) 및 다군집 응집모형(MCPBE: Multi Class Population Balance Equation)과 비교 평가하였다. 기존 SCPBE에 비하여, TCPBE는 응집핵-응집체의 상호작용 및 침강속도차에 따른 응집 기작을 모의할 수 있었다. 또한, 3개의 연립미분방정식을 가진 TCPBE는 30개 미분방정식을 가진 다군집 응집모형(MCPBE: Multi Class Population Balance Equation)과 대등한 모의 결과를 나타내었다. 따라서 TCPBE는 이군집 응집현상을 모의 할 수 있는 가장 단순한 모델로 검증되었고, 향후 수자원환경이나 수처리 공정에 다양하게 적용할 수 있으리라 판단된다.

  • RF나 마이크로웨이브의 전기장이 작용될 때 플라즈마 방전에서의 전자에너지분포함수를 계산하기 위하여 전자 볼츠만 방정식을 수치적으로 푼다. 2차미분 방정식인 로렌츠근사를 사용하는 동차 전자 볼츠만 방정식과 적분-미분방정식인 입자균형방정식을 동시에 풀어 자체모순이 없게 방전 전기장의 크기를 결정한다. 이 수치코드를 이용하여 아르곤 방전에 대하여 전자에너지 분포함수를 RF와 마이크로파영역에 걸쳐 계산한다. 이로부터 전자에너지 분포함수와 이온화율에 대한 고주파 전기장의 주파수 변화에 따른 영향을 조사한다.

  • The Direct Quadrature Method of Moments (DQMOM) has been presented for the solution of population balance equation in the wide range of the multi-phase flows. This method has the inherently interesting features which can be easily applied to the multi-inner variable equation. In addition, DQMOM is capable of easily coupling the gas phase with the discrete phases while it requires the relatively low computational cost. Soot inception, subsequent aggregation, surface growth and oxidation are described through a population balance model solved with the DQMOM for soot formation. This approach is also able to represent the evolution of the soot particle size distribution. The turbulence-chemistry interaction is represented by the laminar flamelet model together with the presumed PDF approach and the spherical harmonic P-1 approximation is adopted to account for the radiative heat transfer.

  • We coupled fluid balance equation and director balance equation from Ericksen-Leslie's continuum theory and observed the motion of Twisted Nematic (TN) Liquid Crystals. We simulated flow velocity distribution and director distribution. We interpreted the dynamic response characteristic caused by the flow. As the result of the simulation, We could see the flow effect. And this flow caused abnormal twist to 4msec in switching off state. We could prove that this abnormal twist is a direct cause of optical bounce phenomenon known well until now with the result of simulation.

고압 수은방전의 교류 아아크 모델에 관한 연구 (A Study on the AC Arc Model of High Pressure Mercury Discharge)

  • This study presents a model of the electrical characteristics of the high-pressure mercury vapour arc discharge. Energy balance equation per unit volume of the arc tube is converted into the one per unit length by assuming the parabolic radial temperature distribution and integrating over the cross-section of the tube. Using this energy balance equation, together with the circuit equation and Ohm's law, the arc voltage and current variation for 1 cycle is numerically calculated and a good result is obtained. A simple method to calculate the axis temperature of the arc tube and the radiation output is also presented.

폴리에틸렌의 열분해 Kinetics (Thermo-Degradation Kinetics of Polyethylene)

  • 폴리에틸렌 열분해실험을 반응기 크기가 $10cm^3$인 스테인레스 스틸 반응기에서 수행하였으며 이때 반응온도는 $390{\sim}450^{\circ}C$이었다. 열분해생성물인 반응생성물과 기체생성물을 분리하여 채취하였고 각 생성물의 분자량분포는 HPLC-GPC와 GC분석을 통해 얻었다. 열분해반응의 개시-종료, 전파-비전파반응, 즉 수소탈취반응, 사슬절단, 고분자물질과 라디칼과의 결합반응 등을 설명할 수 있는 random, specific 생성물의 분자랑분포에 대한 distribution balance식을 제안하였다. 말단절단 과정에 의해 저분자량의 비응축성 기체생성물 (C1~C5)이 생성되었으며 이 기체생성물의 평균분자량은 38이었다. 무작위절단과 말단절단의 속도매개변수 중의 하나인 활성화에너지는 각각 35, 17 kcal/mole 이었다.

Uncertainty Analysis of Dynamic Thermal Rating of Overhead Transmission Line

  • Dynamic thermal rating of the overhead transmission lines is affected by many uncertain factors. The ambient temperature, wind speed and wind direction are the main sources of uncertainty. Measurement uncertainty is an important parameter to evaluate the reliability of measurement results. This paper presents the uncertainty analysis based on Monte Carlo. On the basis of establishing the mathematical model and setting the probability density function of the input parameter value, the probability density function of the output value is determined by probability distribution random sampling. Through the calculation and analysis of the transient thermal balance equation and the steady- state thermal balance equation, the steady-state current carrying capacity, the transient current carrying capacity, the standard uncertainty and the probability distribution of the minimum and maximum values of the conductor under 95% confidence interval are obtained. The simulation results indicate that Monte Carlo method can decrease the computational complexity, speed up the calculation, and increase the validity and reliability of the uncertainty evaluation.

Effectiveness of E-Training, E-Leadership, and Work Life Balance on Employee Performance during COVID-19

  • This study aims to add insight into the effectiveness of e-training, e-leadership, work-life balance, and work motivation on millennial generation employees' performance in today's work life amid the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic that requires to work more online. Unlike previous generations, millennials are technology-literate, intent on succeeding quickly, give up easily, and seek instantaneous gratification. The population in this study are millennial generation employees at one of Honda motorcycle dealers in Jakarta, Indonesia. The number of samples collected was 200. The sampling technique used is the side probability method, with proportional random sampling technique. The research method used is an associative quantitative approach through survey methods and Structural Equation Modeling. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to millennial generation employees, with results then processed through the Lisrel 8.5 program. The results of this study show, first, that e-training, e-leadership, and work-life balance have positive effect on work motivation. Second, e-training, e-leadership, work-life balance, and work motivation have positive effect on employees' performance. The findings indicate that companies must pay attention to the factors of e-training, e-leadership, and work-life balance to keep employees motivated and to maintain optimal employee performance, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic through working online.

속도의 영향에 따른 3차원 거친 표면의 혼합윤활해석 (Effect of Sliding Velocity on 3D Rough Surface in Mixed Lubrication Regime)

  • This study examined the effects of surface roughness in the mixed lubrication regime of smooth and rough surfaces for roller bearings. The average flow model was adopted for interaction between the flow rheology of the lubricant and the surface roughness. The average Reynolds equation and related flow factor that describes the coupled effects of surface roughness and flow rheology, the viscosity-pressure and density-pressure equations, the elastic deformation equation, and the force balance equation were solved simultaneously. The results showed that the effects of surface roughness on the film thickness and pressure distribution should be considered, especially in elastohydrodynamic lubrication contact problems.

  • This paper presents the thermal analysis of EHV OF cable accessories using FEM. The governing equation about the temperature in the cable accessories is induced by the energy balance equation. Since the temperature distribution is a function of space and time, the weighted residual method is adopted for FEM formulation. The difference approximation is used to treat the time differential term in the element equation. Automatic mesh generation which save time and labor is introduced for the data input process. It will be expected that the following thermal analysis result will be very useful to cable accessories design.
