  • Large machine and structure can not be normally treated as lumped parameter system. Such machine or structure must be broken down to individual beams or panels the motion of which must be analysed before an absorber system can be designed for each element. The absorber may be a lumped parameter system or a continuous system. One of the most common elements in a machine or structure is the cantilever, and in this paper is considered the design of a continuous parameter absorber to reduce the transverse vibrations of a beam. So this paper describes the method to obtain the accurate information about combined continuous beam system with DVA. This information is obtained from the combined system's receptance. and this paper shows the convenience and useful informations when design the dynamic vibration absorber with the combined system's receptance.

It is that AT system can be fed through longer distance. Conventional circuit model of catenary is used T equivalent circuit with lumped parameter. This model may include some problem when traction power supply system is analyzed. In addition, the model with distributed parameter is good for analysis of harmonic and EMI.

  • For lightning currents, a grounding system shows the transient grounding impedance characteristics. A grounding system for protection against lightning should be evaluated by the transient grounding impedance, not it's ground resistance. The transient grounding impedance varies with the shape of ground electrode and earth characteristics as well as the waveform of lightning surge current. For the analysis and practical use of transient grounding impedance, the characteristics of transient grounding impedance should be analyzed theoretically and this paper suggests the theoretical analysis for the transient grounding impedance of counterpoise by using the distributed parameter circuit model. EMTP and Matlab are used to simulate the distributed parameter circuit model of counterpoise and the adequacy of the distributed parameter model of counterpoise is examined by comparing the simulated results with the measured results.

  • In distributed estimation where each node can collect only partial information on the parameter of interest without communication between nodes and quantize it before transmission to a fusion node which conducts estimation of the parameter, we consider a novel quantization technique employed at local nodes. It should be noted that the performance can be greatly improved if each node can transmit its measurement to one designated node (namely, head node) which can quantize its estimate using the total rate available in the system. For this case, the best strategy at the head node would be simply to partition the parameter space using the generalized Lloyd algorithm, producing the global codewords, one of which is closest to the estimate is transmitted to a fusion node. In this paper, we propose an iterative design algorithm that seeks to efficiently assign the codewords into each of quantization partitions at nodes so as to achieve the performance close to that of the system with the head node. We show through extensive experiments that the proposed algorithm offers a performance improvement in rate-distortion perspective as compared with previous novel techniques.

  • This paper uses the distributed heating thin metal moving at constant velocity which are modeled as distributed parameter systems, and applies the Paley order of Walsh functions to high order partial differential equations and matrix partial differential equations. This thesis presents a new algorithm which usefully exercises the optimal control in the distributed parameter systems. In this paper, the excellent consequences are found without using the existing decentralized control or hierarchical control method.

  • When the lightning currents flow through the ground electrode, the grounding system should be evaluated by the grounding impedance rather than the ground resistance because a grounding system shows the transient impedance characteristic by the inductance of the ground electrode and the capacitance of the soil. The ratio of the peak values of electric potential and currents is the conventional impedance that shows the transient characteristic about impulse currents of the grounding system in a roundabout way. The grounding system having low conventional impedance is a fine grounding system with low electric potential when the lightning currents flow. In this paper the conventional impedance of the counterpoise is calculated by using the distributed parameter circuit model and embodied the distributed parameter circuit model by using the EMTP program The adequacy of the distributed parameter model is examined by comparing the simulated and the measured results. The conventional impedance of the counterpoise is analyzed for first short stroke and subsequent short stroke currents.

  • In this paper, a method for the efficient implementation of the PICNET network configurator for a distributed control system(DCS) is proposed. The network configurator is composed of the time parameter estimator and the period scheduler, the file generator. The main role of network configurator estimates time parameter, the pre-run time scheduling of the user input and make the period transmission table for operating the PICNET based distributed control system.

  • Shape optimization of a flow system is done to obtain the required effects, in the engineering fields. Most of these designs are accomplished by empirical or numerical analysis. In empirical analysis, it is difficult to obtain an optimal shape in the feasible design region. And, in numerical method, it usually needs much calculation expenses for shape optimization, because of design sensitivity analysis. In this study, we used the growth-strain method having only one distributed parameter such as a design variable. It optimizes a shape by making a distributed parameter such as dissipation energy uniform in a flow system, and then applied to two-flow systems. In order to overcome the stability occurred in numerical analysis performed by Azegami, the equation of volumic strain has been modified. Also, the shapes were compared with the known optimal shapes for the flow systems. Consequently, we confirm that the modified growth-strain method is very efficient and practical in shape optimization of the flow systems.

  • Optimal control theories based on the maximum principles have been evolved and applied to distributed parameter systems(DPSs) represented by partial differential equations (PDEs) and integral equations (IEs). This paper intends to show that an optimal control of a tubular reactor described by a one-dimensional partial differential equation was obtained using the distributed parameter control method for parabolic PDEs. In develping an algorithm which implements the calculation, the method of lines (MOL) was adopted through using a package called the DSS/2. For the tubular reactor system chosen for this paper, the optimal control method based on PDEs with the numerical MOL showed to be more efficient than the one based on IEs.
