콘크리트 크랙 탐색 및 실링을 위한 다수의 자율주행로봇 (Mobile Robots for the Concrete Crack Search and Sealing)

  • This study proposes a multi-robot system, using multiple autonomous robots, to explore concrete structures and assist in their maintenance by sealing any cracks present in the structure. The proposed system employed a new self-localization method that is essential for autonomous robots, along with a visualization system to recognize the external environment and to detect and explore cracks efficiently. Moreover, more efficient crack search in an unknown environment became possible by arranging the robots into search areas divided depending on the surrounding situations. Operations with increased efficiency were also realized by overcoming the disadvantages of the infeasible logical behavioral model design with only six basic behavioral strategies based on distributed control-one of the methods to control swarm robots. Finally, this study investigated the efficiency of the proposed multi-robot system via basic sensor testing and simulation.

Hybrid Shop Floor Control System for Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM)

  • A shop floor can be considered as an important level to develop Computer Integrated Manufacturing system (CIMs). However, a shop floor is a dynamic environment where unexpected events continuously occur, and impose changes to the planned activities. To deal with this problem, a shop floor should adopt an appropriate control system that is responsible for the coordination and control of the manufacturing physical flow and information flow. In this paper, a hybrid control system is described with a shop floor activity methodology called Multi-Layered Task Initiation Diagram (MTD). The architecture of the control model contains three levels: i.e., he shop floor controller (SFC), the intelligent agent controller (IAC) and the equipment controller (EC). The methodology behind the development of the control system is an intelligent multi-agent paradigm that enables the shop floor control system to be an independent, an autonomous, and distributed system, and to achieve an adaptability to change of the manufacturing environment.

  • In Vehicle Information and Communication System (VICS), which is an active field of Intelligent Transport System (ITS), information of traffic congestion is sent to each vehicle at real time. However, a centralized navigation system is not realistic to guide millions of vehicles in a megalopolis. Autonomous distributed systems should be more flexible and scalable, and also have a chance to focus on each vehicle´s demand. This paper proposes a sub-optimal route planning mechanism of vehicles in urban areas using the non-network type immune system. Simulation is carried out using a cellular automaton model. This system announces a sub-optimal route to drivers in real time using VICS.

스키드형 무인자율차량을 위한 신경망 기반 적응제어 기법 설계 (NN-based Adaptive Control for a Skid-type Autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicle)

  • This study proposes a NN (Neural Networks)-based adaptive control method for a 6X6 skid-type UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) with 6 in-wheel motors. The UGV experiences lots of uncertainties and, thus, the control performance can degrade significantly without a compensation of the unknown terms. To improve the control performance of the UGV, the NN is utilized to design the adaptive controller. Then, the designed overall force and moment are optimally distributed into 6 traction forces with the assumption that six vertical forces of the UGV are known exactly, because the six traction forces are original source to be excited to the UGV to move. Finally, numerical simulations with the TruckSim model are performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • To address the need for autonomous control of remote and distributed mobile systems, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications are rapidly gaining attention from both academia and industry. M2M communications have recently been deployed in smart grid, home networking, health care, and vehicular networking environments. This paper focuses on M2M communications in the vehicular networking context and investigates areas where M2M principles can improve vehicular networking. Since connected vehicles are essentially a network of machines that are communicating, preferably autonomously, vehicular networks can benefit a lot from M2M communications support. The M2M paradigm enhances vehicular networking by supporting large-scale deployment of devices, cross-platform networking, autonomous monitoring and control, visualization of the system and measurements, and security. We also present some of the challenges that still need to be addressed to fully enable M2M support in the vehicular networking environment. Of these, component standardization and data security management are considered to be the most significant challenges.

  • 분산 환경에서의 공동 작업을 위한 CSCW (Computer Supported Cooperative Work) 시스템은 전자 결재에서부터 공동 저술, 공동 의사 결정 등의 분야에서 다양하게 이용된다. CSCW 시스템 중에서 특히 공동 작업 드로잉(drawing) 도구는 의사 소통, 공동 디자인, 교육 등의 분야에 적용될 수 있기 때문에 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 기존의 공동 작업 드로잉 도구는 시스템 구성, 병행성 제어 등의 부분에서 유연성이 부족하다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 병행성 제어 정책 및 뷰(view)에 관한 정보를 가지는 "자율 객체(autonomous object)"와 유연한 시스템 구성을 지원하는 서버와 클라이언트를 소개한다.

  • This paper describes the development of the pilot plant of distributed intelligent management system for a microgrid. For optimal control and management of microgrids, intelligent agents area applied to the microgrid management system. Each agent includes intelligent algorithms to make decisions on behalf of the corresponding microgrid entity such as distributed generators, local loads, and so on. To this end, each agent has its own resources to evaluate the system conditions by collecting local information and also communicating with other agents. This paper presents key features of the data communication and management of the developed pilot plant such as the construction of mesh network using local wireless communication techniques, the autonomous agent coordination schemes using plug-and-play functions of agents and contract net protocol (CNP) for decision-making. The performance of the pilot plant and developed algorithms are verified via real-time microgrid test bench based on hardware-in-the-loop simulation systems.

  • 분산전원이 도입된 스마트 그리드는 기존 전력망의 문제들뿐만 아니라, 새로운 전기적 현상에 기인한 보호 협조 문제 등 다수의 문제들을 새롭게 제기한다. EMTP 기반의 해석 방법은 계통구성의 유연성과 편리성을 가지지만 설계 및 해석결과의 불확실성 때문에 실험적 검증이 요구된다. 반면에 실증 시스템은 상당한 경제적, 공간적 건설비용 요구, 계통구성 제약 때문에 대규모 계통에 대한 정확한 고장 관측이 어렵고 스마트 그리드의 분산, 자율적, 적응제어 전략의 실증도 쉽지 않다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 최소의 경제적, 공간적 비용하에서 22.9kV 스마트 그리드의 외란에 대한 전기적인 현상들과 분산, 자율적 적응제어 전략을 안전하고 자유롭게 실험, 관측할 수 있는 MEMS의 소형화 기술을 이용한 마이크로 스마트 그리드 시뮬레이터 설계를 위한 기초이론을 연구한다.

패킹을 이용한 다수 무인기의 유동적 대형 형성 알고리즘 (Flexible Formation Algorithm for Multiple UAV Using the Packing)

  • 다수 무인기를 이용한 시스템은 정찰, 네트워킹, 항공 촬영 등 다양한 목적으로 활용되고 있다. 이러한 시스템에서 다수 무인기로 구성된 대형을 형성하고 유지하는 것은 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 다수 무인기의 대형을 형성하기 위한 자율화된 분산형 제어를 수행하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제어명령은 근접 무인기 또는 임무 영역으로부터 서로 밀어내는 방향으로 작용하는 2차 시스템 형태의 힘을 고려하였다. 제어명령은 외부의 개입 없이 계측과 통신으로부터 획득되는 상대위치/속도를 통해 계산된다. 이는 개별 무인기들이 기준거리를 추종하도록 하며 임무영역 안에 겹치지 않고 최대한 조밀하게 배치되도록 한다. 기준거리 결정에는 채우기 문제를 풀기 위한 최적화 기법과 유사한 방식을 적용하였다. 임무영역은 형성하고자 하는 대형의 외곽선으로 정의되며 임무에 따라 유동적으로 설정될 수 있다. 제안한 알고리즘의 성능을 확인하기 위하여 수치 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 복잡성과 확장성을 고려한 영역에서 약 26.94초에 대형이 형성되며 약 71.91%의 채우기 밀도를 가지는 것을 확인하였다.

해저자원 관측장비를 위한 전력제어시스템 개발 (A Study on a Power Control System of Observation Equipment for Undersea Resources)

  • In order to probe such mineral resources, AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) have been used instead of ROVs (Remotely-Operated Vehicles) that are not suitable to probe submarine resources distributed over a wide area. However, the power consumption of AUVs needs to be reduced as they are operated by batteries. In controlling the power of underwater vehicles, the efficiency of batteries and their capacity have been heightened. This study aimed at developing a power control system suitable to the prober for submarine mineral resources. As a result, power was reduced as compared to the non-control system and the prober could explore the seabed longer than usual.
