This study was devised to investigate the juveniles' psychological distance to their parents and related variables. 456 respondents, consisted of 116 middle school boys, 101 high school boys, 114 middle school girls and 125 high school girls, were sampled. The psychological distance was measured by the semantic differential method, and the statistical data were verified by the analysis of variance through computer system. The main results are found as follows. 1. The average mark of the juveniles' psychological distance to their parents was 54.73(78.19%)/70(100%) and the mark of high school girls was highest and high school boys lowest. 2. The variables influencing on the juveniles' psychological distance to their parents were varied buy the groups. 1) Middle school boys; home atmosphere(p<.001), social and economical status of home (S.E.S; p<.01), number of intimate friends(p<.05), rearing attitudes of parents(p<.05). 2) High school boys; home atmosphere(p<.001), age of father(p<.05), protection of mother(p<.05) 3) Middle school girls; home atmosphere(p<.001), rearing attitudes of parents (p<.001), S.E.S of home(p<.001).
This study was carried to find out the soil characteristics of landslide site and to develope landslide prediction method by seismic refraction prospecting. For these aims, landslide condition and travel time were investigated at 68 Landslide sites over the country during 1990 to 1991. The results were as follows. 1. The surface of rupture was included mainly in C layer. Its Hardness was less than 3kg / $\textrm{cm}^2$ at the upper pare of landslide. 2. When the profile line length was 20m, the range of travel time was 40 to 90 msec. The travel time did not differ between bedrocks. 3. Refraction distance ranged from 1 to 7m and mean of that was 2.5m. Travel time was increased according to receiving distance without large variance in the refraction distance but that was appeared large variance out of the refraction distance on slope that has shallow soil depth and discontinuous ground surface. Therefore, the spread distance must be shorten to 10-l5m. 4. The seismic velocity at the first layer(layer of rupture) was less than 500m1sec by degree of weathering and the velocity at the second layer decreased in order of Granite> Granitic gneiss >Sedimentary rock. 5. The first layer observed by seismic refraction was contained C layer that has parent material and weathered rocks of hardness 10-20kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. 6. Among the range of seismic velocity was less than 200m/sec in 63% of the total plots, 200-300m/sec in 34% and 300-500m /sec in 3%. 7. There was a proportional relationship between seismic prospecting soil depth and executive soil depth, and seismic propection soil depth was about 10 to 20cm deeper than the order.
The purpose of this study was to investigate stereotypes, affect and social distance toward people from Southeast Asia among visiting supervisors for multicultural families and to explore the factors that influence social distance. The subjects were 243 visiting supervisors for multicultural families. The data were analyzed with SPSS for Windows 15.0 through means, standard deviations, Cronbach's a, Scheff$\acute{e}$ tests, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise regression. It was found that stereotypes and affect among visiting supervisors toward people from Southeast Asia were somewhat positive, at a little higher than midpoint. Social distance, on the other hand, was found to be a little lower than midpoint. To discover the factors that influenced social distance, a stepwise regression was executed. Stereotype was the factor with the highest magnitude of effect and affect was the second- strongest factor in explaining the social distance found among visiting supervisors. Age was the third significant factor in explaining social distance. These variables accounted for 35.7% of variance in the social distance data.
Purpose With the development of Social Network Service(SNS) and mobile devices, many companies have been using the Facebook as a Word-of-Mouth(WOM) channel. This study examines the effects of psychological distance and message type on WOM using the Facebook's real messages. And the moderating effect of the message type on the relationship between psychological distance and WOM was also analyzed. Design/methodology/approach A content analysis was used as a research method. A total 7,483 messages were collected from 50 companies' Facebook Fanpage (based on the ranking of socialbakers.com) and content analysis was conducted using human coding. As the influencing variables, the message type and psychological distance and the number of 'Likes', 'Share', and 'Comment' were used as the dependent variable. The R3.4.4 was used to perform descriptive statistics, cross-tab analysis, and analysis of variance(ANOVA). Findings First, a larger proportion of Facebook messages have close psychological distance for all message types(information, advertisement, event, and customer relationship). Second, 'Like' and 'Comment' number were significantly higher in messages of close psychological distance. Third, the effects of psychological distance on 'Like', 'Share', and 'Comment' number were different according to message type. However, 'advertisement' message type had significantly more numbers for all WOMs('Like', 'Share', and 'Comment') in messages with close psychological distance.
For applications that are grid enabled, the grid can offer a resource balancing effect by scheduling grid jobs on machines with low utilization. When jobs communicate with each other, the internet, or with storage resources, an advanced scheduler could schedule them to minimize communications traffic or minimize the distance of the communications. We propose an intelligent load distribution algorithm to minimize communications traffic and distance of the communications using genetic algorithm. The experiments show the proposed load redistribution algorithm performs efficiently in the variance of load in grid environments.

Muilti-dimensional feature vector matching algorithm uses multiple features such as intensity, gradient, variance, first or second derivative of a pixel to find correspondence pixels in stereo images. In this paper, we proposed a new method for adjusting automatically the weight of feature in multi-dimensional feature vector matching considering sharpeness of a pixel in feature vector distance curve. The sharpeness consists of minimum and maximum vector distances of a small window mask. In the experiment we used IKONOS satellite stereo imagery and obtained accurate matching results comparable to the manual weight-adjusting method.
In this paper, a method for face recognition based on the wavelet packet decomposition is proposed. In the proposed method, the input image is decomposed by the 2-level wavelet packet transformation and then the face areas are defined by the Integral Projection technique applied to each of the 1-level subband images, HL and LH. After the defined face areas are divided into three areas, called top, bottom, and border, the mean and the variance of the three areas of the approximation image are computed, and the variance of the single predetermined face area for the rest of 15 detail images, from which the feature vectors of statistical measure are extracted. In this paper we use the wavelet packet decomposition, a generalization of the classical wavelet decomposition, to obtain its richer signal analysis features such as discontinuity in higher derivatives, self-similarity, etc. And we have shown that even with very simple statistical features such as mean values and variance we can make an excellent basis for face classification, if an appropriate probability distance is used.
Purpose: To survey the social distance of nursing students toward minority groups (immigrants, foreign workers, Saeteomins, and foreign students) and compare them according to general and multicultural characteristics. Methods: The subjects were 409 students from two nursing schools at G metropolitan city. Data were collected with self-reported questionnaires from April 2012 to June 2012, and analyzed by descriptive statistics (t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Scheffe test) using the SPSS/WIN 17.0 program. Results: The mean scores of social distance were $1.90{\pm}0.57$ (out of 4 points) and scores significantly differed according to religion (t=3.095, p=.002), tourist experiences in foreign countries (t=-2.651, p=.008), and for Asian background of minority groups. There were also differences according to the number of foreign friends(F=4.924, p=.008) and duration of friendships(F=3.913, p=.021). Conclusion: The level of social distance of nursing students was lower than average but needs to be reduced. We suggest further studies on the social distance toward each minority group and the development of valid scales for social distance and its related variables.

To provide the information needed to make a decision, it is important to know the relationship or pattern between variables in database. Grouping objects which have similar characteristics of pattern is called as cluster analysis, one of data mining techniques. In this study, it is compared with several partitioning clustering algorithms, based on the statistical distance or total variance in each cluster.
The purpose of this study is to find out factors affecting patient moving to receive medical service. This study is analyzed by multi-level model with patient and hospital level by using SAS 9.3. Total number of patients is 600,000 persons for inpatients and 550,000 patients for outpatients. The degree of the factors, which is combined with personnel factor and hospital factor, can be analyzed by Intra-Class Correlation (ICC). The percentage of group(hospital) level variance of the total variance for out-bound moving case are 30.6% at inpatients, and 28.3% at outpatients. And the percentage of hospital level variance of the total variance for moving distance, are 26.7%, 32,5% respectively. Conclusionally, although the main factor of moving is patient level, hospital is also very important factor to make decision to go out-bound. It contributed to about 1/3 for hospital choice. And, when the one make decision, he will consider the hospital type, number of bed, and training institute in hospital level. Through this study to find out hospital factors affecting patient moving for medical service, it must be continued to find out which factors have more influence to choice the hospital among disease type after this.
