초음파 센서 기반 장애물 인지 이동 로봇 설계 (Design of Ultrasonic Sensor Based Obstacle Recognition Mobile Robot)

  • Intelligent robots are widely needed in various areas of industry from extremely dangerous environments to service tasks. For autonomous mobile robots, it is significant to move itself safely to a destination point, recognizing its surroundings. Advances in sensor technology and its applications are achieved in order to develop an intelligent robot. In this paper, a mobile robot with a path-finding algorithm is presented. The path-finding algorithm is the one that does not only find a path to designated destination and also recognizes obstacles on the way, calculating its distance. 10 ultrasonic sensor are mounted on the front and rear of the mobile robot to figure out its position. Specular reflection and wide viewing angle, which are inherent characteristics of ultrasonic waves, cause errors in measuring distance.

  • Non-contacting capacitive sensor, based on principle of the cross capacitor, for measuring of $\mu\textrm{m}$-order displacements have been fabricated and characterized. To overcome disadvantages of the existed capacitive sensors of parallel type with 2-electrodes and 3-electrodes, the developed new sensor was designed to have 4-electrodes, two of them used high and low electrode the other two used as guard electrodes, on a sapphire plate with diameter 17 mm and thickness 0.7 mm, and are symmetrically situated with a constant gap of 0.2 mm between the electrodes. This sensor can be used for measuring the distance between sensor and target not only the metallic but also non-metallic target without ground connection.

  • This paper deals with the behaviors of magnetic flux density near down-conductors by lightning currents. The background on the principle of magnetic flux density measurements using the RL self-integrating magnetic field sensor was described. The magnetic flux density measuring device consisting of RL self-integrating magnetic field sensor and differential amplifier was designed and fabricated. The frequency bandwidth of the magnetic flux density measuring system ranges from 200 Hz to 300 KHz and the response sensitivity was 0.126 $\mu$T/㎷ The distributions of the magnetic flux density near down-conductors due to impulse currents with various rise times were analyzed as a parameter of the bonding conditions and materials of conductor and wiring conduits. The magnetic flux density due to impulse currents was inversely proportional to the distance between the down-conductor and measuring point. The amplitude of the magnetic flux density for PVC Pipe with down-conductor was 72 $\mu$T/㎷ at the distance of 1m and was higher than for steel conduits and coaxial cable. Finally the magnetic flux density is increased with increasing the di/dt it and oscillation frequency of lightning currents in this experimental ranges.

  • Non-contacting capacitive sensor based on Thompson-Lampard theorem have been fabricated and characterized for measuring of 때 order displacements. To overcome disadvantages of the existed capacitive sensors of parallel plate type with 2-electrodes and 3-electrodes, the developed new sensor was designed to have 4-electrodes with a constant gap of 0.2mm between the electrodes. Two of the electrodes were used as a high potential electrode and a low one, the other two electrodes were used as guard electrodes. These electrodes were made from copper using RF sputtering system on a sapphire plate with diameter 17 mm and thickness 0.7 mm. This sensor can be used for measuring the distance not only between the sensor and metallic target connected to ground potential but also non-metallic target without ground connection.

A Fine-grained Localization Scheme Using A Mobile Beacon Node for Wireless Sensor Networks

  • In this paper, we present a fine-grained localization algorithm for wireless sensor networks using a mobile beacon node. The algorithm is based on distance measurement using RSSI. The beacon node is equipped with a GPS sender and RF (radio frequency) transmitter. Each stationary sensor node is equipped with a RF. The beacon node periodically broadcasts its location information, and stationary sensor nodes perceive their positions as beacon points. A sensor node's location is computed by measuring the distance to the beacon point using RSSI. Our proposed localization scheme is evaluated using OPNET 8.1 and compared with Ssu's and Yu's localization schemes. The results show that our localization scheme outperforms the other two schemes in terms of energy efficiency (overhead) and accuracy.

Development of Automated Guidance Tracking Sensor System Based on Laser Distance Sensors

  • Purpose: Automated guidance systems (AGSs) for mobile farm machinery have several advantages over manual operation in the crop production industry. Many researchers and companies have tried to develop such a system. However, it is not easy to evaluate the performance of an AGS because there is no established device used to evaluate it that complies with the ISO 12188 standard. The objective of this study was to develop a tracking sensor system using five laser distance measurement sensors. Methods: One sensor-for long-range distance measurement-was used to measure travel distance and velocity. The other four sensors-for mid-range distance measurement-were used to measure lateral deviation. Stationary, manual driving, and A-B line tests were conducted, and the results were compared with the real-time kinematic differential global positioning system (RTK-DGPS) signal used by the AGS. Results: For the stationary test, the average error of the tracking sensor system was 1.99 mm, and the average error of the RTK-DGPS was 15.19 mm. For the two types of driving tests, the data trends were similar. A comparison of the changes in lateral deviation showed that the data stability of the developed tracking system was better. Conclusions: Although the tracking system was not capable of measuring long travel distances under strong sunlight illumination because of the long-range sensor's limitations, this dilemma could be overcome using a higher-performance sensor.

A Study on Fall Prevention System in Patient Bed

  • In this paper, we investigate the patient fall prevention system to prevent the patient from falling out of the bed unintentionally on the bed of the bed. Patients stay in bed for many hours of hospitalization. During the hospitalization period, patients have low controllability of the body, as compared with normal persons, and fall due to intentional movements, resulting in a fall of the patient, can be a fatal threat to the patient. Therefore, an efficient fall prevention system is required. In this paper, the distance map to the patient is generated by the distance measuring sensor on the bed of the patient, and the risk is determined by estimating the position of the patient based on the distance map. As a result, when the distance map of the dangerous area is 150 mm or more, it is determined to be dangerous, and good results are obtained.

  • In this paper, the wall follwing method of a motorized wheelchair is discussed. The wall fellowing problem is characterized by maintaining a constant distance to the wall, which should be possible using a distance measuring sensor only. Ultrasonic sensors are cheap are fairly simple to use in this case. The main problem is the calculation of the distance and orientation of the wheelchair with respect the wall from the sensor data. This is solved by the method that sensor data is obtained from 3 ultrasonic sensors arranged at a same perpendicular pivot. The results show that a new method is very effiecient for a motorized wheelchair.

레이더 센서를 이용한 거리 측정 시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of a Distance Measurement System using Radar Sensor)

  • 본 논문에서는 레이더 센서를 이용하여 센서와 물체 사이의 거리를 측정하는 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 센서 모듈은 센서의 원시 데이터를 거리측정 시스템에 올려주고, 거리 측정 시스템에서는 표준편차와 평균값 필터를 이용하여 객체의 유무를 탐지하였다. 실험 결과에서는 평균값 필터를 이용한 알고리즘이 최대 거리 9.7m에서 최대 오차 0.02m 이내의 오차율로 사람이 측정되는 것을 확인하였으며, 표준편차를 이용한 알고리즘에서는 최대거리 9.7m에서 최대 오차 0.15m 이내의 오차율로 사람이 측정되는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서, 레이더 센서를 이용하여 거리를 측정할 경우, 표준편차를 이용한 방법보다는 평균값 필터를 이용하는 방법이 객체 탐지의 정확도가 높음을 확인하였다.

선박 블록 조립을 위한 센서 기반 원격 모니터링 (Sensor-based Remote Monitoring for Ship Block Assembly)

  • 본 논문은 선박 블록의 조립을 위한 센서 기반 원격 모니터링 방법 및 프로토타입 시스템의 구축에 대하여 기술한다. 제안한 접근 방법은 수작업이나 광학 측정장비를 사용하는 대신, 주요 계측 지점에 조립되는 블록간 거리 측정이 가능한 센서 모듈을 설치하고, 블록간의 조립 정확도에 대한 데이타를 전달받아 원격으로 모니터링할 수 있도록 하는 것이다. 이를 통해 블록 조립 및 탑재 과정에서 정합의 오차를 최소화시키므로써 효율적인 선박의 건조를 지원하도록 한다.
