Moving Object Extraction and Distance Measurement in Stereo Vision System (스테레오 비젼 시스템에서의 이동객체 추출 및 거리 측정)

  • In this paper, we present a method to extract a moving object and to measure the distance to it by using the stereo vision system. The moving factor is to be extracted through a match of a pixel unit for the moving object where the adaptive threshold is effectively dealt with to remove changes in the brightness of the image. The distance to moving object is measured by using a stereo vision system which employs a parallel camera. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm could be effectively applied to distance measurement to moving object because it has an average error of one percent.

  • In crossing stereo camera system as a security equipment system, a new algorithm for the tracking method of the moving object and the measurement method of distance of the object from cameras to moving object is proposed. The stereo input images are matched by a pixel for the moving object extraction, then the moving elements obtained from an adaptive threshold's value for an error correction and the moving object area extracted by noise eliminative algorithm. In addition to, the moving object traced by control pan/tilt of cameras using a coordinate value of the moving object, and the measurement method of distance to moving object by using special features of the crossing stereo camera system is proposed. From the experimental results, the proposed algorithm was found to be able to measure of the distance and trace for moving object in a stereo security camera system. The error rate of a distance measurement be existed within 6%. Moreover in implementation the proposed algorithm, the stereo security system, the automatic moving robot system and the stereo remote control system will be applied practical application.

  • A method to measure the speed and distance of moving object is proposed using the stereo vision system. One of the most important factors for measuring the speed and distance of moving object is the accuracy of object tracking. Accordingly, the background image algorithm is adopted to track the rapidly moving object and the local opening operator algorithm is used to remove the shadow and noise of object. The extraction efficiency of moving object is improved by using the adaptive threshold algorithm independent to variation of brightness. Since the left and right central points are compensated, the more exact speed and distance of object can be measured. Using the background image algorithm and local opening operator algorithm, the computational processes are reduced and it is possible to achieve the real-time processing of the speed and distance of moving object. The simulation results show that background image algorithm can track the moving object more rapidly than any other algorithm. The application of adaptive threshold algorithm improved the extraction efficiency of the target by reducing the candidate areas. Since the central point of the target is compensated by using the binocular parallax, the error of measurement for the speed and distance of moving object is reduced. The error rate of measurement for the distance from the stereo camera to moving object and for the speed of moving object are 2.68% and 3.32%, respectively.

  • In this paper, a new algorithm for the segmentation of the multi moving objects at the 3 dimension space and the method of measuring the distance from the camera to the moving object by using stereo video monitoring system is proposed. It get the input image of left and right from the stereo video monitoring system, and the area of the multi moving objects segmented by using adaptive threshold and PRA(pixel recursive algorithm). Each of the object segmented by window mask, then each coordinate value and stereo disparity of the multi moving objects obtained from the window masks. The distance of the multi moving objects can be calculated by this disparity, the feature of the stereo vision system and the trigonometric function. From the experimental results, the error rate of a distance measurement be existed within 7.28%, therefore, in case of implementation the proposed algorithm, the stereo security system, the automatic moving robot system and the stereo remote control system will be applied practical application.

  • In this paper, we propose a model based moving object tracking algorithm In dynamic scenes To adapt shape change of the moving object, the Hausdorff distance is applied as the measurement of similarity between model and image To reduce processing time, 2D logarithmic search method is applied for locate the position of moving object Experiments on a running vehicle and motorcycle, the result showed that the mean square error of real position and tracking result is 1150 and 1845; matching times are reduced average 1125times and 523 times than existing algorithm for vehicle image and motorcycle image, respectively It showed that the proposed algorithm could track the moving object accurately.

  • This paper present the control of the image disparity of a parallel stereo camera and its application to an underwater stereo camera to enhance the working efficiency of underwater vehicles that are equiped with manipulators in seabed operation. The stereo camera consists of two parallel lenses mounted on a lateral moving base and two CCD cameras mounted on a longitudinal moving base, which is embedded in a small pressure canister for underwater application. Because the lateral shift is related to the backward shift with a nonlinear relation, only one control input is needed to control the vergence and focus of the camera with a special driving device. We can get clear stereo vision with the camera for all the range of objects in air and in water, especially in short range object. The control system of the camera is so simple that we are able to realize a small stereo camera system and apply it to a stereo vision system for underwater vehicles. This paper also shows how to acquire the distance information of an underwater object with this stereo camera. Whenever we focus on an underwater object with the camera, we can obtain three-dimensional images and distance information in real-time.

  • By setting a refractor with a certain angle against the optical axis of the CCD camera lens, the image of a measuring point recorded on the image plane is displaced by the corresponding amounts related to the distance between the camera and the measuring point. When the refractor that keeps the angle against the optical axis is rotated physically at high speed during the exposure of the camera, the image of a measuring point draws an annular streak.   • This paper proposes an updating policy of indoor moving object databases (IMODB) for location-based services. our method applies the Ka1man filter on the recently collected measured positions to estimate the moving object's position and velocity at the moment of the most recent measurement, and extrapolate the current position with the estimated position and velocity. If the distance between the extrapolated current position and the measured current position is within the threshold, in other words if they are close then we skip updating the IMODB. When the IMODB needs to know the moving object's position at a certain moment T, it applies the Kalman filter on the series of the measurements received before T and extrapolates the position at T with the estimations obtained by the Kalman filter. In order to verify the efficiency of our updating method, we performed the experiments of applying our method on the series of measured positions obtained by applying the fingerprinting indoor positioning method while we are actually walking through the test bed. In the analysis of the test results, we estimated the communication saving rate of our method and the error increment rate caused by the communication saving.

  • In this study, a new algorithm for measuring the velocity and distance from a camera to a moving object by using pseudo-stereo images obtained from a single camera with a stereo adapter is proposed. The proposed system is similar to a parallel visual stereo system using a two-camera system, but because this system can obtain pseudo-stereo images form a single camera, it has advantages not only in the aspect of cost but also in stereo conformity by arrangement and the calibration of the left and right stereo cameras upon image processing.

  • An efficient and effective unsupervised single moving object detection framework is presented in this paper. Given the sparsely labelled trajectory points, we adopt a coarse-to-fine strategy to detect and segment the foreground from the background. The superpixel level coarse segmentation reduces the complexity of subsequent processing, and the pixel level refinement improves the segmentation accuracy. A distance measurement is devised in the coarse segmentation stage to measure the similarities between generated superpixels, which can then be used for clustering. Moreover, a Quadmap is introduced to facilitate the refinement in the fine segmentation stage. According to the experiments, our algorithm is effective and efficient, and favorable results can be achieved compared with state-of-the-art methods.
