객체 인식을 위한 이동형 카메라를 이용한 거리 측정 기법 (Distance measurement technique using a mobile camera for object recognition)

  • 카메라를 이용한 위치 측정은 오랫동안 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이것은 자율주행 자동차에서 차간거리 인식이나 객체 인식을 위한 연구가 있고, GPS를 적용하기 어려운 한정된 공간인 실내의 내비게이션 분야에서 연구되고 있다. 보통, 카메라를 이용하는 거리를 측정하는 방법은 2개의 스테레오 카메라를 이용하여 카메라 사이의 거리와 촬영된 영상이나 사진을 통해 측정된 값을 이용하여 거리를 측정한다. 본 논문에서는 하나의 카메라를 이용하여 사물의 거리를 측정하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 촬영 시간의 차이, 촬영 사이의 거리를 통하여 스테레오 카메라와 같이 카메라 간의 거리, 촬영된 사진에 의해 측정된 값을 이용하여 거리를 측정한다.

Social Distance of Affective Advice: The Role of Construal Level in Acceptance of Rational and Emotional Advice

  • Social network service provides an excellent platform for people seeking for advices. This research analyzed the effect of rational and emotional response and social distance on people's acceptance for advices online by the construal level theory. An experiment was completed to test the relationship between advisers and questioners and verify the content of online feedback would influence people's acceptance for advices on social network site. The online response included emotional advice and rational advice. Social distance between advisers and questioners was divided to close social distance condition and distant social distance condition. The study showed: (1) comparing with emotional advice, rational advice had a higher persuasive effect in both close and distant social distance conditions; (2) the impact of feedback from people with close social distance was stronger than the impact of the advices from people with distant social distance; (3) there existed an interaction effect between social distance and affective advice. The results revealed that the adviser's affective expression and relationship with the questioner would interactively impact the online persuasive effect.

Multimodal 분포 데이터를 위한 Bhattacharyya distance 기반 분류 에러예측 기법 (Estimation of Classification Error Based on the Bhattacharyya Distance for Data with Multimodal Distribution)

  • In pattern classification, the Bhattacharyya distance has been used as a class separability measure and provides useful information for feature selection and extraction. In this paper, we propose a method to predict the classification error for multimodal data based on the Bhattacharyya distance. In our approach, we first approximate the pdf of multimodal distribution with a Gaussian mixture model and find the bhattacharyya distance and classification error. Exprimental results showed that there is a strong relationship between the Bhattacharyya distance and the classification error for multimodal data.

  • In this paper, we reconsider the Kolmogorov-Smirnoff distance as a split criterion for binary decision trees and suggest an algorithm to obtain the Kolmogorov-Smirnoff distance more efficiently when the input variable have more than three categories. The Kolmogorov-Smirnoff distance is shown to have the property of exclusive preference. Empirical results, comparing the Kolmogorov-Smirnoff distance to the Gini index, show that the Kolmogorov-Smirnoff distance grows more accurate trees in terms of misclassification rate.

  • Generally, fare system is divided diminishing fare rate to distance into proportional fare rate to distance. In this paper, it is simulated the financial effect on the HSR operator introduced the diminishing fare rate to distance system. The diminishing fare rate to distance system increase the railroad demand, so profit of HSR operator is increased. We find that the diminishing fare rate to distance system is better than proportional fare rate to distance system.

An Approximate Euclidean Distance Calculation for Fast VQ Encoding

  • In this paper, we present a fast encoding algorithm for vector quantization with an approximate Euclidean distance calculation. An approximation is performed by converting floating point to the near integer. An inequality between the approximate Euclidean distance and the nearest distance is developed to avoid unnecessary distance calculations. Since the proposed algorithm rejects those codewords that are impossible to be the nearest codeword, it produces the same output as conventional full search algorithm.

  • Recently a new type of educational method through the internet, distance education, has been developed with technology development. To find out any complement between distance education and traditional in-class education, a series of study with junior high school mathematics were conducted. Both distance education and in-class education have merits and shortcomings. Some advantages with distance education shown from the study can be used for complement to in-class education depending on the contents and subjects. Distance education in mathematics education can be a good turning point for future education.

수정된 K-means 알고리즘 (Modified K-means algorithm)

  • One of the typical methods to design a codebook is K-means algorithm. This algorithm has the drawbacks that converges to a locally optimal codebook and its performance is mainly decided by an initial codebook. D. Lee's method is almost same as the K-means algorithm except for a modification of a distance value. Those methods have a fixed distance value during all iterations. After many iterations. because the distance between new codevectors and old codevectors is much shorter than the distance in the early stage of iterations, the new codevectors are not affected by distance value. But new codevectors decided in the early stage of learning iterations are much affected by distance value. Therefore it is not appropriate to fix the distance value during all iterations. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm using each different distance value between codevectors for a limited iterations in the early stage of learning iteration. In the experiment, the result show that the proposed method can design better codebooks than the conventional K-means algorithms.

  • Most distance functions, including taxicab distance, are defined on Cartesian plane, and recent studies on distance functions have been mainly focused on Cartesian plane. However, most streets in cities include not only straight lines but also curves. Therefore, there is a significant need for a distance function to be defined on a curvilinear coordinate system. In this paper, we define a new function named polar taxicab distance, using polar coordinates. We prove that this function satisfies the conditions of distance function. We also investigate the geometric properties and classifications of circles in the plane with polar taxicab distance.

  • The theodolite system consists of two theodolites, a scale bar and a target bu. A measurement accuracy of theodolite system is affected by a measurement distance of each equipment. This study was performed fir measuring an accuracy when the distance from theodolite to scale bar was changed 2~ 6 m on two theodolites distance 3 a The results showed thai the measurement accuracy could be $\pm$0.021 mm when the distance from theodolite to target was 2,3 and 6 n Specially, it was found that the maximum measurement accuracy was 10.017mm on theodolite collimation distance 3m and the distance 4 m of the theodolite and scale bar.
