  • Since 2006, the Industrial Technology Research Institute and the University of Cincinnati have been jointly exploring approaches for high brightness flexible electrowetting displays (EWDs). Recently, ITRI demonstrated for the $1^{st}$ time a 6" AM-EWD reflective display panel. To create flexible AM-EWDs, Cincinnati has developed low-temperature processing and improved pixel structures.

  • In this paper, we explain the materials of the advanced organic light emitting diode(OLED) for the excellent OLED displays. We have been designed the various kinds of organic materials like as the hole-injecting materials (HIMs), the hole transporting materials(HTMs). the light emitting materials(LEMs), and the electron injecting materials(EIMs). As the results, we found the excellent materials and their combinations for the OLED displays.

  • The highly integrated nature of polymer based organic light emitting diode (POLED) microdisplay technology, coupled with low voltage and low power electroluminescent light generation, combine to offer a very promising technology for use in portable and personal electronics products. We briefly describe the technology before discussing how to engineer the color gamut using whiteemitting polymer materials, microcavity device structure and color filter absorbance.

  • We have developed $EPLaR^{TM}$, a new way of making flexible electrophoretic displays. The TFTs have the same good performance, reliability and mature manufacturing processes as TFTs used in LCD monitors and LCD-TVs. We are working with partners to show that plastic displays can be made in existing TFT-LCD factories alongside glass LCDS. In this talk we describe the EPLaR process and show results for TFT arrays on plastic made in a factory by standard ${\alpha}$-Si TFT processing.

  • We discuss several key technologies of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) that share common features of all organic displays (AODs). An overview of the morphological effects associated with molecular ordering at interfaces on the Crystallinity and the carrier mobility in organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) is given from the viewpoint of the alignment mechanism for LCDs. Recent progress of improving the carrier mobility in the OTFTs is also reviewed.

  • LG Electronics developed a perfect flat color display tube which was named "FLATRON" . This tube provides ergonomic performances with perfectly flat face and innovative manufacturing process. Foil transfer is a new technology for manufacturing screen layer for Flatron. Its main features include several properties of film, releasing agent, adhesive, aluminum layer, holes after bake-out and foil transfer process. It will be used innovative and cost oriented process for FLATRON for in CRT mass production..

  • We will report the latest developments in light emitting polymer (LEP) systems developed at CDT. Device performance for spin coated and ink jet printed systems will be described which are state-of-the-art. We will also report on novel driving schemes for both active and passive addressed LEP displays. These drive schemes extend system lifetime as well as lowering power consumption.

  • Within LG.Philips Displays electron gun assembly different grid alignment methods are used. Besides the commonly used mandrel alignment of grids (Inner Reference System, IRS), also a unique Outer Reference System (ORS) is used as grid alignment method in high-end gun assembly. This alignment method combines alignment accuracy with maximum electron optical design freedom and maximum flexibility in electron gun production.
