For smart manufacturing, most semiconductor sites utilize automated material handling systems(AMHS). As one of the AMHSs, the OHT control system(OCS) manages overhead hoist transports(OHT) that move along rails installed on the ceiling. This paper proposes a real-time scheduling system to efficiently allocate and control the OHTs in semiconductor logistics processes. The proposed system, as an independent subsystem within the OCS, is interconnected with the main subsystem of the OCS, so that it can be easily modified without the effect of other systems. To develop the system, we first identify the functional requirements of the semiconductor logistics process and classify several types of control scenarios of the OHTs. Next, based on SEMI(Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International) standard, we design sequence diagrams and interface messages between the subsystems. The developed system is interoperated with the OCS main subsystem and the database in real time and performs two major roles: 1) OHT dispatching and 2) pathfinding. Six integrated tests were carried out to verify the functions of the developed system. The system was normally operated on six basic scenarios and two exception scenarios and we proved that it is suitable for the mission planning of the OHTs.
Competition between ports around the world is intensifying to attract transshipment cargo. However, recently, there have been concerns about the departure of transshipment cargo volume at Busan Port, such as the lifting of the cabotage policy in China's shipping sector and the implementation of a safe fare system. In terms of operation, terminal congestion and vehicle waiting time are seriously occurring due to imbalance in the transshipment volume of each terminal and vehicles concentrated in a specific time period. In this paper, we propose a method of inter-terminal transportation (ITT) using buffer space to solve the problem caused by inefficient ITT systems and presented a mixed integer programming (MIP) for the problem. The effect of using the buffer space was analyzed for various work volumes and capacity fluctuation ranges by applying the terminal congestion pattern and ITT vehicle in/out pattern based on the Busan New Port data.
The purpose of this paper is to develop and show the efficiency of the URL(Unload Request Logic) and LRL(Load Request Logic) of the dispatcher in the Fab(Fabrication) Manufacturing Execution System. These logics are the core procedures which control the material(wafer and glass substrate) flow efficiently in the semiconductor and LCD fab considering inter-bay as well as intra-bay material flow. We use the present and future status information of the system by look-ahead and the information about the future transportation schedule of Automated Guided Vehicles. The simulation results show that the URL and LRL presented in this paper reduce the average lead time, average and maximum WIP level, and the average available AGV waiting time.

A recent trend In flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) Is to utilize the Identical versatile machines with fast tool delivery devices. Unlike a conventional FMS where parts are fed to the machines with the required tools, tools are acquired from other machines using a tool delivery system and parts can be finished on the same machine In these FMS. Therefore it Is more important problem 4o plan tool flow using tool delivery system In these FMS rather than part flow In conventional FMS. According to the existing study, In FMS 20∼30 percent of the total management cost Is the cost related with tools and It Is possible to reduce the tool Inventory by 40 percent using efficient tool allocation. In this study, In FMS under dynamic tool allocation strategy, a new method of part release considering tool flow at the stage of part release Is proposed. In order to prove the efficiency of the proposed part release It is compared with other part release through simulation experiments. Performance measures in these experiments are the throughput and the number of tardy parts.
A cross docking operation involves multiple inbound trucks that deliver items from suppliers to a distribution center and multiple outbound trucks that ship items from the distribution center to customers. Based on customer demands, an inbound truck may have its items transferred to multiple outbound trucks. Similarly, an outbound truck can receive its consignments from multiple inbound trucks. The objective of this study is to find the best truck spotting sequence for both inbound and outbound trucks in order to minimize total operation time of the cross docking system under the condition that multiple visits to the dock by a truck to unload or load its consignments is allowed. The allocations of the items from inbound trucks to outbound trucks are determined simultaneously with the spotting sequences of both the inbound and outbound trucks.
This paper is to demonstrate the effectiveness of one point grounding in support of ESS protection. One point grounding provides for the dispatching of excess energy for protection of switching equipment and personnel from lightning discharge hazards and for a natural sink for noise from atmospheric lightning and power transients. In most ESS installations there are a number of different items that must be maintained at a common ground potential for safety, fault protection or noise reduction. The items typically consist of power systems, heating and ventilating systems, distributing frames, repeating equipmets, switching equipments, etc. Grounding system of an ESS Office is most effective when all the ground points are connected to a single, common earth. The one point grounding prvides a common reference potential, keeping all the items of telecommunications facility free from the earth current and voltage hazards.

It has been a basic model for the present electric power industry that more than two generators compete, and thereby the market clearing price and the generation schedules are determined through the bid process. In order for this paradigm to be applicable to real electric power systems and markets, it is necessary to reflect many physical and economic constraints related to frequency and transmission in the dispatching schedule. The paper presents an approach to deriving a Nash bargaining solution in a competitive electricity market where multiple generators are playing with the system operator who mitigates the transmission congestion to minimize the total transaction cost. In this study, we take the effect of the line flows and the role of system operator into the Game. Finally, a case study has been demonstrated to verify the proposed cooperative game.

In the past few years, increasing numbers of automatic storage/retrieval system (AS/RS) using computer controlled storage/retrieval machine have been installed. This paper introduces two modeling approaches to determine the best operating policy for AS/RS : an M/G/1 queueing model and a computer simulation model. The operating policy consists of three elements. : the operation command cycle, the storage location method, and the operation dispatching rule. The analysis based on M/G/1 model is suitable for a quick and approximate evaluation, due to its inherent strict assumptions. The computer simulation can be used to perform a more realistic analysis. It is shown through the study that a significant improvement in the throughput and/or the space requirement can be expected by determining the best operating policy to a particular system. Most important, the computer simulation demonstrates its powerful capability in evaluating dynamic stochatic systems with imperfect information.
In the context of increasing electric energy consumption in a data center, energy efficiency improvement is strongly emphasized. In a data center, electric energy is largely consumed by DC power supply system, which is based on a rectifier composed by multiple parallel converters. Therefore, rectifier efficiency must be improved for minimizing loss of DC power supply system. Rectifier efficiency can be modulated by load allocation to converters because converter efficiency depends on input AC power. In this paper, we propose a new control method to maximize rectifier efficiency. The method can control load allocation to converters by introducing active power converter control scheme and start-and-stop of converters. In order to illustrate optimal load allocations in a rectifier, a maximization problem of rectifier efficiency is formulated as a nonlinear optimization one. The problem is solved by Lagrangian relaxation method and the computation results provide the validity of proposed method.

To constuct the stochastic model for performance evaluation of Multi-AGV, two aspects must be considered. The first is stochastic situation for moving jobs. The second is the dispatching rule of AGV. In this paper, the stochastic model for performance evaluation of Multi-AGV is developed. The case of stochastic model with two AGV is developed. But it difficult to solve in the case of stochastic model with more than three AGV because the model have three-ordered equations. The evaluation factor of the model is utilization and empty travel time of AGV. Using these factors, one can easily evaluate a wide range of handling and layout alternatives from given flow data. Hence, the model would be most effective when used in the early stage of designing to narrow down the number of alternative prior to simuation.
