  • Unsteady three-dimensional reacting flowfield generated by transverse hydrogen injection into a supersonic mainstream is numerically investigated using DES and finite-rate chemistry model. Comparisons are made with experimental results to investigate the turbulent reacting flow physics. The numerical OH distribution describes well the experimental OH-PLIF result, while the numerical ignition delay time shows some disparity due to the restricted available experimental data. The intermittency phenomena are identified by the comparative analysis between RANS and DES. Those effects are also quantified by the temperature distributions along streamlines and superimposed OH mass fraction along with time.

  • In this paper, we present a new camera system combining a high-quality 3-D scanner and hybrid camera system to generate a multiview video-plus-depth. In order to get the 3-D video using the hybrid camera system and 3-D scanner, we first obtain depth information for background region from the 3-D scanner. Then, we get the depth map for foreground area from the hybrid camera system. Initial depths of each view image are estimated by performing 3-D warping with the depth information. Thereafter, multiview depth estimation using the initial depths is carried out to get each view initial disparity map. We correct the initial disparity map using a belief propagation algorithm so that we can generate the high-quality multiview disparity map. Finally, we refine depths of the foreground boundary using extracted edge information. Experimental results show that the proposed depth maps generation method produces a 3-D video with more accurate multiview depths and supports more natural 3-D views than the previous works.

A Study of the spatial perception by audio-visual information (시각과 청각에 의한 공간적 지각에 관한 연구)

  • Psychophysical experiment was performed to investigate how audio-visual spatial disparity affects on perceptual space in peripheral vision. In the experiment, participants were exposed to two stimuli of vision and sound which comes simultaneously from different directions, respectively. The visual stimulus was implemented by 7 white LEDs which were located at an equal distance with 7 different angles of $-70^{\circ}$, $-40^{\circ}$, $-20^{\circ}$, $0^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, $40^{\circ}$, and $70^{\circ}$ from the right front. Those audial stimuli were also implemented by loudspeakers which were placed at 9 different directions equally spaced by $5^{\circ}$ ranged from $-20^{\circ}$ to $20^{\circ}$. Each participant then evaluated spatial disparity between visual and audial stimuli with 5 levels of response, in which the higher level indicates the larger gap. When the visual stimulus is applied from the right, the results show that the response level gets higher for a larger angle between visual and auditory stimuli. A similar tendency for the visual stimulus with $0^{\circ}$ orientation was also be observed. On the other hand, when the visual stimulus is applied from the left, the response level gets lower for the larger angle.

Spatial Distribution of the Emergency Medical Facilities and Spatial Disparity of the Demand-Supply Level for the Emergency Medical Service (응급의료기관의 공간분포와 응급의료 서비스 수급의 공간적 격차)

  • Emergency medical service pertains highly to the public service sector which has to be provided equally in a society and evenly in a spatial dimension by the government. However, emergency medical centers in Korea are inequally distributed in a space and also human capital, facility, and equipment for emergency medical centers show clear disparity among regions. This research analyzed the spatial balance of the demand supply level for emergency medical service in Seoul by constructing the potential demand surface map and supply surface map for this service. The surface map of demand-supply balance for emergency medical service was constructed by GIS based map algebra algorism. The results by this analysis very clearly reveal the spatial disparity of emergency medical service. The places where are over-represented by demand level compared to their supply level are estimated to require an additional establishment of emergency medical centers in the near future. While, the places where are over-represented by supply level compared to their potential demand for emergency medical services indicate the possibility of problems in the management of emergency medical centers because of a surplus in the supply of emergency medical services. The results of this research can be utilized in providing valuable information for the adequate provision of emergency medical centers and for the estimation of range on the service area of emergency medical services.

A Study on Gendered Portrayals in Children's Informational Books with Scientific Content

  • This study analyzes gender bias in children's informational books about science and science careers to determine how these early resources are affecting the disparity between males and females in science and engineering fields. The study focused on the number of male and female scientists both in pictures and text, and how much space was devoted to discussion of scientists of each gender. Overall, the findings of the study show that only 18% of the pictured scientists were female as well as only 16% of the scientists discussed in the text. These numbers are below current industry data that puts the number of females working in science and engineering fields at 26%.

  • The image projected onto the screen of the floating hologram is no more than a two-dimensional image. Although it creates an illusion that an object appears to float in space as it moves around while showing its different parts. This paper has proposed a novel method of floating 3D hologram display to view stereoscopic three-dimensional images without putting on glasses. The system is comprised of a sharkstooth scrim screen, projector, polarizing filter for the projector, and a polarizing film to block the image projected from the sham screen. As part of the polarization characteristics, the background image and the front object have completely been separated from each other with the stereoscopic 3D effect successfully implemented by the binocular disparity caused by the distance between the two screens.

Spatial Distribution of Information Related Occupation and Its Regional Difference in Korea (우리나라 정보관련직종의 공간적 분포와 지역화 격차에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper the prevailing geography of the information sector, fousing on its occupatonal dimension, is examined. The purposes of this paper are to analyze the labor force share of information occupation workers at each special city and region, to compare the inter-regional distribution of information workforce and to analyze regional share of information occupations in manufacturing industry. Spatial pattern of size and occupational composition of information sector shows a core-periphery disparity. There is a clear evidence of Seoul's dominance of the information economy, particularly such as scientific and technical, consultative services, management and process control function. Also the distribution of information workers in manufacturing industry over space was polarized than is the case for total manufacturing employment and noninformation workers. Therefore Korean information economy is marked by a highly articulated spatial division of labor within individual industry, which can be attributed to the locational characteristics of information intensive industries and industrial composition of regional economy. From the results of this study, information employment prospects among regions of Korea would reinforce the unequal geography of job opportunity. In this light, regional policy efforts should be given to the improvement of information infrastructure to facilitate new computer-based service products and process in peripheral regions.

  • 'Hanok(韓屋)' is the settlement that our ancestors completed for our lives through multiple verifications. Thus, there exists our nation's identity and a variety of tangible and intangible cultural elements are included in that settlement. Even though the dwelling planning of Hanok has been introduced by the modern trends of traditional style, it can not present the type of various space compositions according to the area and living characteristics and it shows a disparity in our real life through the introduction of the traditional Hanok's elements which are not fit into contemporary housing without filtration. To solve these problems, it must need to study on cases based on the present situation of the Hanok and analysis on characteristics. For the Hanok to meet the development of modern residence, there needs to study on many fields such as plan, complex, structure, material. Among them, this study intends to present the preliminary data for the improvement of Hanok's effectiveness by understanding and analyzing the current situation focusing on the natural transformation of Hanok which are currently building in Milyang Area. Also, as the second step of this study, this study attempts to analyze based on the present situation of New Hanok in Kyeongnam province by expanding the range.

  • 변이영상은 두 스테레오 영상의 시차에 의해 발생하는 각 화소의 변위를 수록한 영상이다. 이 영상은 깊이영상을 생성하여 시점 간 가상영상을 생성하는데 사용된다. 따라서 변이영상은 다시점 비디오 서비스와 직접적인 연관이 있다. 본 논문에서는 유일성(uniqueness)제약과 순차성(ordering) 제약을 사용하여 기준영상과 참조영상 사이의 관계를 이용하여 생성한 변이 공간 영상(DSI : disparity space image)으로부터 비용 행렬을 계산하여 최적의 변이 경로를 찾아가는 다이내믹 프로그래밍을 분석 하였다. 다이내믹 프로그래밍은 정밀한 변이 맵을 얻을 수 있고, 다른 방식들에 비해 연산 속도가 빠르다는 장점을 가지고 있지만, 영상의 화소값의 변화가 없는 영역에서 이전의 경로를 계속 유지하려는 성질에 때문에 발생 하는 오류확산과 가려진 (occluded) 영역에 의한 오차로 인해 정확한 경로를 찾을 수 없는 경우가 빈번히 발생 하여 에러율이 높아지는 단점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 이론을 토대로 기존의 기법들에 비하여 정확도가 우수한 기법들을 제안하였다. 개선된 역 추적 과정을 이용하여 기존의 다이내믹 프로그래밍 기반의 스테레오 정합 기법들보다 우수성이 뛰어난 결과들을 나타내었다.

A New Watermarking Algorithm for Copyright Protection of Stereoscopic Image (스테레오 영상의 소유권 보호를 위한 워터마킹 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a new watermarking technique for copyright protection of stereo image. The proposed technique embeds watermark to the region which corresponds to occlusion of the disparity map to be extracted by the proposed stereo matching and the frequency coefficient with the appropriate value. We use discrete wavelet transform for frequency transform tool. The proposed algorithm consists of stereo matching, watermark rearrange, mark space selection, and watermark embedding/extracting. We tested the experiment about 4 stereo images which are from Middlebury site. We embedded the watermark to 4 stereo images and extracted it from the images after attacks. We also visually analyzed the watermark embedding images in 3D TV environment.
