Warfarin is an anticoagulant involved in the production of vitamin K dependent blood clotting factors. Dentists should be familiar with the appropriate assessment methods and considerations for the treatment of patients taking warfarin. Dental surgery with the moderate risk of bleeding can be performed without stopping the drug through preoperative examination of the INR(international normalized ratio) value and evaluation. When performing a surgery with a high risk of bleeding, it is necessary to evaluate whether the drug can be discontinued, what the duration is, and the risk of discontinuation. Hemostasis can be obtained by local methods in most cases of postoperative bleeding in patients taking appropriately adjusted doses of warfarin.

Oral appliances therapy is becoming increasingly recognized as a successful treatment for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea(OSA). Compared with continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP), the gold standard therapy for OSA, oral appliance therapy are less efficacious for severe OSA but are more acceptable and tolerable for patients, which in turn, may lead to a comparable level of therapeutic effectiveness. Nevertheless, the various side effects of oral appliance therapy, such as, increased salivation or dryness, pain or discomfort in the teeth or gums, occlusal discomfort in the morning, temporomandibular disorders, dental and occlusal changes may cause discontinuation of treatment or changes in treatment plan. Therefore, oral appliance therapy should be provided by a qualified dentist who can evaluate oral tissues, occlusion, and temporomandibular joints, and prevent and manage the possible side effects.

A 10-year-old spayed female beagle referred to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University presented with acute diarrhea, depression, anorexia, and emaciation. The laboratory findings of the dog showed leukocytosis, high C-reactive protein, and low albumin levels. Fecal examinations revealed severe infection with Strongyloides (S.) stercoralis, with a high fecal score (6/7). Consequently, the dog was diagnosed with hyperinfection of S. stercoralis, and thus, was treated with fenbendazole and ivermectin after discontinuation of prednisolone treatment. The dog showed negative on the Fecal Dx^® Antigen Panel (IDEXX Laboratories Inc., Westbrook, ME, USA) after treatment, and clinical signs disappeared with normal stool consistency.

A 5-year-old neutered female Dachshund dog presented with a 3-month history of hyperthermia, skin lesions, and shifting lameness. Based on physical examination, blood tests, urinalysis, and radiographs, the dog was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus. Clinical signs improved after administration of prednisolone and cyclosporine but relapsed after the prednisolone was reduced due to side effects. Oral levamisole was commenced and the other immunosuppressants were tapered over a period of 2 months and then stopped. Levamisole was retained as the sole therapy for an additional 2 months. Six months after discontinuation of all treatment, the patient remained in remission.

The current research attempts to measure the level of the acceptance of the Blackboard System (BBS) during the Corona crisis, and whether this is one of the reasons for the low use of the BBS at Al-Jouf University. To achieve this, the technology accepting model in the time of crisis (TAMTC) has been proposed to measure the degree of acceptance by students, which was then applied to a random sample of 339 of such. The results show a high level of student acceptance, despite their lower use of the system. The research also highlights the importance of upgrading e-courses and that the discontinuation of exam disqualification of students is secondary to their poor course attendance.

다제내성 반코마이신 저항성 장내구균(multidrug-resistant vancomycin-resistant enterococci, VRE)에 의한 침습감염의 치료는 특히 기저질환을 가진 소아 환자들에게 어려운 점이 있다. 소아환자들에게서 VRE 감염을 치료하기 위한 새로운 항생제에 대한 연구가 충분히 이루어지지 않았다. 본 증례는 심폐이식을 받은 생후 6개월 된 영아에서 linezolid 중단 이후 재발된 VRE 균혈증에 대해 daptomycin과 tigecycline 조합으로 성공적으로 치료하여 이를 보고하는 바이다.

Two Shih-Tzu dogs with atopic dermatitis presented with delayed periocular dermatitis (PD) following the instillation of dorzolamide and dorzolamide/timolol combination eyedrops; the development of dermatologic signs took 94 and 104 d in cases 1 and 2, respectively. Hypersensitivity to anti-glaucoma eyedrops was highly suspected, and treatment was discontinued. Delayed PD was significantly relieved in cases 1 and 2, at days 155 and 64 after discontinuation, respectively. In this study, the clinical characteristics and progression of delayed PD were described to inform clinicians who may encounter this rare side effect.

Instrumentation and control systems measure and control various variables of nuclear facilities to operate nuclear power plants safely. A diverse protection system, a representative instrumentation and control system, generates a reactor trip and turbine trip signal by high pressure in a pressurizer and containment to satisfy the design requirements 10CFR50.62. Also, it generates an auxiliary feedwater actuation signal by low water levels in steam generators. Cybersecurity has become more critical as digital technology is gradually applied to solve problems such as performance degradation due to aging of analog equipment, increased maintenance costs, and product discontinuation. This paper analyzed possible cybersecurity threat scenarios in the diverse protection system using attack trees. Based on the analyzed cybersecurity threat scenario, we calculated the probability of attack occurrence and confirmed the cybersecurity risk in connection with the asset value.

Antibiotics are known to be able to cause hypersensitivity reactions through various mechanisms. We present a case of drug-induced immune thrombocytopenia (DITP) and anaphylactic shock occurring simultaneously in a dog after the administration of two classes of antibiotics, namely trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) and amoxicillin-clavulanate (AMC). The patient recovered completely from DITP on discontinuation of TMP-SMX and the anaphylactic shock caused by AMC was treated with intensive care. DITP is a rare adverse drug reaction (ADR), and anaphylactic shock is a life-threatening ADR. This is the first case report of a dog manifesting two types of hypersensitivity reactions caused by two antibiotics.

Objective: A Case report on the improvement of dermatitis through implementation of OCNT. Methods: OCNT was implemented for 3 months for a Korean man in his 70's with dermatitis with unknown cause since 2015. Results: Following the implementation of OCNT, fever that accompanied dermatitis subsided, occurrence of itchiness and abscess decreased, and the stratum corneum of the palm although displayed improvement of being thinned. As the result of visual follow-up observation upon discontinuation of OCNT, damaged skin due to inflammation was restored to the level of normal skin. Conclusion: OCNT can provide assistance to those experiencing inconvenience due to dermatitis.
