  • The number of accidents in school zone is decreasing than before with the introduction of strengthening traffic safety policy since January 2011, but the danger still exists. The School zone sign is widely known to have much effect in protecting children from risks of traffic accidents, but design improvement is being demanded to improve a sense of safety and legibility of safety signs in School zone due to the lack of understanding on the safety signs in crosswalk and School zone. This study analyzed differences in shape and color of existing safety signs through a case analysis of traffic developed countries as America, England, Japan, and Germany and suggested improvement plans for drivers to clearly perceive the school zone. For improvement methods, this study suggested the importance of delivering definite and unified warning message for school zone to drivers by using indication sign and caution sign together, and to use yellow, a safety color, and to unify the safety sign into triangle shape that symbolizes warning and caution to conform the international standards. Actual design production and experiment through improvement plans are needed in the future, and it is expected to secure safety of children and to provide international standardization of safety signs in school zone.

  • Standardization of disaster safety lexicon is important as the most basic process for successful accident prevention and response. A lack of understanding of disaster safety lexicon leads lack of communication and information sharing, which can be a problem in communicating with appropriate responses in case of a disaster. Currently disaster and safety control agencies produce and manage heterogeneous information and they also develop and use word dictionaries individually. To solve this problem, identifying differences of disaster safety lexicon patterns by the user are essential for standardization. In this paper, we conducted lexicon patterns analysis based on social media and revealed the characteristics according to pattern types. At the result, we proposed the standardization and construction methods of disaster safety word dictionary.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose development plan for systematic design and management of disaster and safety education curriculum in accordance with the revision of Framework act on the management of disasters and safety. The curriculum is intended for current disaster management professionals. Prior to analysis, disaster and safety professionals were classified into three categories: disaster practitioner, disaster manager, and disaster higher manager. And based on 24 disaster safety functions and 13 disaster management competence items, priorities of their task ability were derived. Considering practical effect of disaster and safety education, the course curriculum is divided to target groups of disaster practitioner, disaster manager, and disaster higher manager. Disaster management education curriculum and its design are based on the results of disaster prevention education contents development planning to reflect the elements of advanced disaster management education and to consider brand making of the curriculum and operation pattern.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to suggest a direction for consumer-oriented curriculum development by analyzing the priorities of subjects and their preference for educational methods. Methods: The participants included 773 management supervisors and education practitioners in the workplace, and a survey was conducted from April 17 to August 30, 2019. Frequency analysis, t-test, Borich's Needs Analysis, and Locus for Focus Model analysis were performed using Microsoft Excel 2019 and IBM SPSS 21.0. Results: The highest perceived priorities for education subjects were as follows: ① 'CPR and First Aid Practice' and 'Occupational Disaster Prevention and First Aid Basics' in the manufacturing industry; and ② 'Emotional Labor and Job Stress Prevention', 'Occupational Disaster Prevention and First Aid basics, and 'Musculoskeletal Disorder Prevention' in the service industry. 'Collective education' was the most preferred method of education. 'School-type' was preferred for the seating arrangement, and the proper number of trainees was considered to be about 30. Respondents said the contents of the education was a top priority when they applied for education, and curriculum and appropriate textbooks should be considered in calculating the cost of education. Conclusions: Practical subjects and subjects related to major hazards by industry were required for management supervisor education. It was proposed in this study that the contents and operating methods of education be changed so that workers can easily comprehend essential subjects such as the Occupational Safety and Health Act. In conclusion, it is necessary to design the curriculum and apply educational methods suitable for each subject's characteristics in consideration of the priorities for subjects reflected in the needs of trainees.

  • Our research group, which was organized by the South Korean and Japanese researchers, have carried out research about natural disaster in our regional heritage villages derived from the concept of ICT(information communication technology)-based DPD(disaster prevention design). In this research, we performed simulation analysis on the fire safety diagnosis in Asan-Oeam folk and JeonjuHanok village for developing our research of ICT-based PBD. In order to do this, we used fire simulation program which was developed by BRI(Building Research Institute) of Japan. Based on the results of fire simulation of Asan-Oeam folk and JeonjuHanokvillage, we can demonstrated that the fire which broken out inregional heritage folk village will be easily expanded to adjacent houses, because the house which are built with wood structure.
