The present study focuses on the relation of the attitudes of university students to disabled by using modified disability factor scales(DFS, Siller). As for the attitude areas, it relies on the eight categories DFS provides. The 8 categories that specify each attitude area are: generalized rejection, distressed identification, inferred emotional consequences, imputed functional limitation, authoritarian virtuousness, rejection of intimacy, interaction strain, mainstreaming. This study is based on a series of questionnaire researches conducted on 322 students, over the period from October 19th to November 14th, 2001. The questionnaire carries 50 items, covering the 8 attitude areas and each item has 5 choices. The subjects' responses to each of the areas are examined in their relations to the four conditions, as they are analysed by t-test and one way ANOVA. The conclusion drawn from the research are as follows: 1. There is no significant difference between the students of the department concerned with the problem of disability, and those of the department unconcerned. But the responses are significantly different in the three areas of generalized rejection, rejection of intimacy and interaction strain(1st condition, P<.05). 2. The responses are significantly different in 6 areas except for the two, distressed identification and inferred emotional consequences, between the students who have volunteered services as helpers of the disabled and those who have no such experiences(2nd condition, P<.05). 3. the responses are significantly different between those who have volunteered long-time services and those who are far less experienced(3nd condition, P<.05). 4. There is no significant difference, whether the subjects have disabled persons around them or not. But generalized rejection, authoritarian virtuousness, rejection of intimacy, interaction strain & mainstreming show significant differences(4th condition, P<.05). 5. Generalized rejection, rejection intimacy and interaction strain show significant differences in every pair of the 4 condition. 6. Distressed identification and inferred emotional consequence show no significant difference between the two conditions in every pair of the 4 considerations.

This paper deals with the design and implementation of a typing game especially for the disabled people such as children, the elderly, and the handicapped persons on hands. In order to increase the typing capability of such users the game is designed to increase the score whenever they correctly enter the words that appear randomly on the screen. Moreover it is devised to arose the interest by making them follow closer to bugs and insects running ahead when they type correctly many words as possible within a given time limit to eliminate the bugs at the collision; otherwise the distance becomes farther when they enter misspelled words. This functionality can develop the intellectual strength of the users. This typing game helps the disabled increase their typing capability, memorize the character key position, and feel emotionally good with excitement.

The people with disabilities living in residential facilities have more difficulty in caring oral hygiene than those living at home. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the recent 2014 dental treatment records of free mobile dental clinic service for disabled people in Korea. 203 disabled living in residential facilities participated in mobile dental clinic. Patients classified according to types of disability. Mental retardation were 75.3%, mental disorder were 6.0%, crippled disorder were 7.4%, brain disorder were 6.5%, visual disorder were1.4%, auditory and speech disorder were 2.3% and autism disorder were 0.9%. Performed treatments were 99 scaling and curettage, 88 fluoride varnish and TBI, 4 extraction, 1 endodontic treatment, 16 caries control (resin filling, GI filling), 1 denture repair and 8 refuse the treatment. Free mobile dental clinic can not provide complex dental treatment. So, the organization should systemize advanced dental treatment and regular preventive programs. Furthermore, we need to have a more concerns about the people with disabilities living in residential facilities and constantly participate on a dental voluntary work.

This study analyzed the rate of unmet dental care service for the disabled who were judged to require the dentistry due to oral health-related problems and those reasons, and also examined the oral health status according to the unmet dentistry. 375 subjects, who were 19 years or older and completed oral health examination and a survey, among 444 responded positive of disability registration after participation in National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES), were analyzed. Disability type was classified into 6 kinds(physical disability, brain lesions, sensory defect, developmental disability, mental disorder, endocrine disorder). Participants had 128 of their dental care needs unmet when it was required. 'Financial burden' was the main reason, with the subject of 49.2%, followed by 'lower on the priority scale' were 18.0%. The high frequency and progression permanent teeth caries experiencs and periodontal status of their dental disease were confirmed. In availability aspect of dentistry resources, it is required for using dentistry service smoothly through providing sufficient proper dental care service comparing with the number of the disabled.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine if Pilates gymball exercise can change the electroencephalogram and cognitive function of mentally disabled people. Methods: Twenty-one mentally disabled people were enrolled in this study. They were assigned randomly to one of two groups: Pilates gymball exercise group (PGEG, n=11), and control group (CG, n=10). The subjects in the PGEG group performed the exercises for 50 minutes a day, three days per week for 6 weeks. The PGEG program consisted of warm up (10 minutes), main workout (30 minutes), and cool down (10 minutes). The main workout consisted of 10 exercise programs. The electroencephalogram (EEG) of Fp1, Fp2, F3, F4, C3, C4, O1, and O2 were measured using an PolyG-I system. The cognitive function was evaluated using a mini-mental state examination (MMSE). The measurements were performed before exercise, and 6 weeks after exercise. Covariance analysis (ANCOVA) was performed to determine the difference between the two groups Results: A significant difference in Fp1, Fp2, and F3 on the relative alpha power was observed between the PGEG and CG groups (p<0.05). A significant difference in Fp1 on the relative beta power was observed between the PGEG and CG groups (p<0.05). No significant difference in the MMSE score was observed between the PGEG and CG groups. Conclusion: Pilates gymball exercise did positively change the EEG in the frontal lobe. On the other hand, the effect related to cognitive was limited. Pilates gymball exercise appears to be more effective in facilitating brain stimulation related to cognition.
The main purpose of this paper is identifying the trends of researches in the realm of social welfare for disabled people. It tries to introduce an alternative analytic approach - key word network analysis - that might surpass the shortage of analysis methods of existing studies which have mainly relied on descriptive analysis. For this purpose the authors constructed a database composed of key words and informations about research methods of the data sources of this study. The sources are such researches as doctoral theses and the papers of Korean Journal of Social Welfare and Journal of Rehabilitation Research which were published during the 20 years from 1996 to 2015. Total numbers of the thesis or papers analysed at this study are 1,034. The results are shown in three ways as follows: First, the method trends of selected researches. Second the lists of interested types and population groups of the disabled persons and interested issues. Third, the intellectual structure of the research. Based on the findings of this study, some suggestions are given considering desirable directions of future researches in relation to perspectives, methods, targets and subjects of them.

The need for oral health rights for people with disabilities is very high, and current oral health care system does not fully reflect these demands. Efforts to promote oral health of people with disabilities are urgently needed. In order for the disabled to have oral health rights, access to oral health services for people with disabilities should be improved and barriers to access should be resolved. In this study, we propose oral health service delivery system to guarantee oral health rights for the disabled. In addition, before applying the proposed oral medical delivery system, the external effects of the system application were predicted and the expert verification was conducted to find out the solution. There are some controversies about the development of the service delivery system proposed in this study. As a result of the expert verification, there were disagreements about the suitability of the service provider, the suitability of the service recipient, the appropriateness of the service content and scope, and the appropriateness of the cost and the revenue source. Subsequent Delphi surveys require the development of structured questionnaires for discussions that require consensus. It is expected that a reasonable consensus of expert opinions will be derived.
This study was conducted to verify the effectiveness of the university's extracurricular program of convergence majors on lifelong education for the disabled on the performance of restaurant employment skills for high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The research method consisted of a case study procedure for three intellectual and developmental disability high school students, specifically using a single subject research technique. The study found that high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities effectively acquired and maintained restaurant employment skills through extracurricular program on convergence majors of lifelong education for the disabled. In conclusion, the university's extracurricular program on convergence major of lifelong education for the disabled was analyzed to be effective in adapting to adult life and self-reliance, including restaurant employment skills of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Purpose: The aims of this study were to develop a motivational interviewing program for exercise improvement in persons with physical disabilities and to examine the effect of this motivational interviewing intervention. Methods: The study employed a nonequivalent control group pretest and posttest design. A total of 62 persons with physical disabilities (30 in the experimental group, 32 in the control group) were recruited from 2 community rehabilitation centers. The experimental group received 8 sessions of a group motivational interviewing program, scheduled once a week, with each session lasting 60 minutes. Test measures were completed before the intervention, immediately after the end of the intervention, 2 weeks later, and 6 weeks after the end of the intervention. Measures included self-efficacy for exercise, decisional balance for exercise, stage of change for exercise, regularity of exercise, exercise maintenance, and independent living ability. Data were analyzed using the ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher's exact test, Independent samples t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA, conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics version 18. Results: The experimental group showed a significant increase in self-efficacy for exercise (F=50.98, p<.001), benefit (pros) of exercise (F=24.16, p<.001), and independent living ability (F=50.94, p<.001), and a significant decrease in loss (cons) of exercise (F=26.50, p<.001). There were significant differences between the two groups in stages of change for exercise (p<.001), regularity of exercise (p<.001), and exercise maintenance (${\chi}^2=26.61$, p<.001). Conclusion: The motivational interviewing program has the potential to improve exercise levels in persons with physical disabilities.
This paper is the output of a collaborative European project concerning the barrier free accessibility for disabled persons to regional and long distance trains in Europe. Disabled people represent around 13% of the population in Europe. This is approximately 63 million people. The range of disabilities includes people with reduced mobility including wheel chair users, viewing and hearing impaired people and other forms of impairment. Improving accessibility aims at contributing to the provision of public transport services to all citizens in an equitable way. The purpose of the project was to analyse and to evaluate the existing solutions at selected European railways for all required modules at the entrance (doors, information and safety solutions), to derive a design concept, to develop a mock-up in meeting the needs of rail travellers with the above mentioned impairments and to test it with user groups. The project also aims at deriving components for the determination of standards. The EUPAX Design Mock-up test was performed to verify the advantages of the layout of the train segment including the different modules such as access area (including the access door, gaps between platform and train as well as boarding aid devices), entrance vestibule, information systems inside and outside the train, emergency facilities, toilet with all conveniences and the additional test arrangements regarding push buttons, steps and emergency equipment. For this purpose a questionnaire was developed for the assessment of the EUPAX segment and the additional test arrangements. With the help of this questionnaire it was possible to execute a quantitative and qualitative evaluation. During three test phases 67 experts and handicapped persons from 6 countries have evaluated the Industrial Design mock-up based on this questionnaire. The test group covered persons from North (Denmark) to the South (Italy) and from the West (Spain) to the Middle of Europe (Germany). This is especially important for the generalization (harmonisation) of the results for all European countries. According to COST 335 the information for people with reduced mobility should be clear, concise, accurate and timely. So that all information can be received from persons, they must be transferred on at least two of the three possible ways (acoustical, visual, tactile), a so called "2-sense-principle". Based on the results ergonomic specifications/ solutions for the ergonomic design of the access area, the acoustic, visual and tactile information and the emergency devices including the emergency communication system were developed, related to the benefiting passenger groups.
