This study was conducted to determine whether there is a significant relationship between board structure and board committee qualities and corporate cash holdings in Pakistan. For this objective, 168 listed enterprises on the PSX for the period 2016 to 2020 were chosen as a sample from a population of 436 non-financial firms. Multiple regression analysis was used in the study to discover a relationship between board structure and board committee features and cash holdings. The study's findings revealed that board size, executive directors, and board independence have no significant impact on the firm's cash holding because they play no important part in the firm's cash holding. Auditors, audit committee size, audit committee meetings, and the compensation committee, on the other hand, have no major impact on the firm's cash holdings because they are not relevant indicators to compare with cash holdings. While board meeting frequency and leadership structure both have a negative influence on cash holding, board meeting frequency increases firm costs, whereas leadership structure causes agency problems. Results were supported by the pecking order theory, cash flow theory, and agency theory.

This study examined the effects of outside directors and CEO duality on acquisition strategies and performance of Korean firms in high-technology industry. Based on the resource dependence theory, we focused on the service and resource-dependence roles from board of directors in the process of decision-making of acquisition strategies. In addition, CEO opportunism behavior rises when CEO serves as chairperson of board and induces the negative effects on acquisition performance. Specifically, we investigated the interaction effects between outside directors ratio and CEO duality. For the period of 2004 to 2012, 246 acquisitions of Korean firms in high-technology industry were analyzed to test our intended hypotheses. Our results indicate that there exist positive relationship between outside director ratio and acquisition performance for Korean high-technology firms. Negative associations prevail between CEO duality and performance consequences of acquisitions. While outside director ratio has a positive effect on acquisition performance when there is a presence of CEO duality, negative effect prevail for outside director ratio on acquisition performance in the absence of CEO duality position to hold our interaction hypothesis. The favor of dual structure can be explained with implications referring to unity of command and strong leadership driven from CEO duality that enhances the resource dependence roles of board of directors in the context of high-technology industry acquisition behaviors rendered by Korean firms.
In general, the introduction of information technology to domestic small and middle size firms is depending on the governmental supporting policy. However, even under this situation there is also a case that the building up of information technology is initiated by the management of small and middle size firms. An accumulated know-how for information technology and powerful leadership in such firms are considered as success factors. This study attempts to analyze a case for 'THEFACESHOP', in which MIS is successfully built. To achieve corporate goals, the CEO of THEFACESHOP based on the extensive knowledge of information technology drove to build up information system. Also, the board of directors supported him, and employees committed to their organization. Through the strong leadership of the CEO, the information system of THEFACESHOP became sufficient and efficient. And it led the organization and the information system to be competitive. In particular, the systematic approach of THEF ACESHOP reinforcing its competitiveness can be summarized as follows: First, it tried to construct basic information systems as like ERP etc. to increase work-efficiency. Second, it completed CRM related systems for analysis to maximize its customer orientation and marketing effect. Third, the last step can be stated as the building up of operation related CRM systems to improve the responsiveness of target marketing activities and the profitability of its agencies. Such endeavors of THEFACESHOP contributed to increase productivity and performance of the organization. As a result, THEFACESHOP has had its own 'Natural Story' and price competitiveness. For that reason THEFACESHOP became the best of brand-shop cosmetic firms. This success based on the strong leadership and the systematic investment on the information system.
This study verified the relationship between empowerment and job satisfaction and mediating effect of self-esteem of specialists in rehabilitation centers. We surveyed of 325 specialists in 14 centers of Deajeon and Chungnam. The analysis result is that specialists' empowerment has an positive effect on the job satisfaction and the self-esteem mediates between empowerment and job satisfaction. Considering this analysis result, we can suggest several plans to improve the job satisfaction. Firstly, in order to promote the empowerment, it is important to provide directors' positive leadership, appropriate support for the improvement of empowerment of specialists and their voluntary efforts, and development of self-leadership for voluntary work efforts and improvement of self-efficacy. Secondly, for enhancement of the self-esteem, operation of monitoring program to advance self-awareness, establishment of smooth cooperative system with colleagues, and managers' advocacy supervision is required.

This paper aims to provide a review concept regarding the relationship between corporate governance and corporate sustainability in Indonesia. This paper examines the mechanisms and guidelines for implementing good corporate governance. This research used the literature review method and explores some effective corporate governance principles such as transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, fairness, and equality to achieve business sustainability in Indonesia's setting. The results show that good corporate governance regulation in Indonesia has been improved, but the enforcement is still needed to be optimized because good corporate governance will positively impact corporate sustainability. Thus, sustainability requires more corporate innovation because sustainability is about how a company can create profits and value-added to society through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs and how the company can contribute to the preservation of nature and the environment. In Indonesia, the board of directors, the board of commissioners, and the audit committees are positively related to CSR disclosure. Thus, leadership and management efforts are crucial. However, to comprehensively support the synergy of implementing good corporate governance, we need the role of the state, the business community, and society. This study provides important insights into the implementation of good corporate governance in achieving corporate sustainability in Indonesia.
Objectives: This paper discusses the current contexts of the collaboration between public health centers(PHCs) and community partners for health promotion. Then it suggests directions for the development and enhancement of the collaboration. Methods: The discussion in this paper is based on key literature on community health promotion, including literature reviews and case reports. Results: PHCs are mostly engaged in networking and cooperation rather than collaboration with the community. A typical pattern of cooperation is where PHCs provide healthy-setting types of programs to the community in single-partnered relationships. Current cooperation rarely involves co-planning by a multi-partnered partnership, and is greatly influenced by the interest of PHC directors and PHC performance evaluation indicators. Systems change is recommended to foster collaboration for community health promotion. Such change involves: shared understanding of health promotion and collaboration, inclusion of collaboration mechanism in public health governance, leadership development, capacity enhancement of all partners. role definition of PHCs for community collaboration, and development of collaborative system, at the least. Conclusions: At this point where collaboration should be more than rhetoric, multi-faceted, intersectoral, and concurrent approaches are required to create discourses, to develop cases, and to share experience for actual realization of collaboration for community health promotion.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the comtent of the education system of US and the UK in order to build an integrated system that can develop the leadership competency of preschool principle. Based on this, the implications are as follows. First, competencies can developed through learning rather than fixed. Therefore, re-conceptualization of leadership competence appropriate to the characteristics and organization of the individual as the presiding authority of the preschool can be considered as ability to show visible knowledge and skills, invisible self concept. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a capacity development plan based on this. Second, the introduction and implementation of continuous and systematic training programs such as the training system that strengthens the capacity of the directors and principals of the United States and the United Kingdom is necessary. To do this, we must introduce a system that renews certification every five years, like the United States, rather than a system that acquires and maintains certification with a single training. Third, various training methods should be carried out. In the case of the US and the UK, we think it is desirable to train in various ways in the training period, the university, the teacher center, and the private organization or association. Therefore, it is necessary to build a cooperation system with various institutions such as training institutes, universities, teacher centers, educational information research institutes, and private organizations in each province, and strengthen them in various ways. Fourth, the contents and methods of qualification training and future job training of the director of the preschool should be deviated from the uniform level. Therefore, the systematic research that reflects the knowledge and contents of the administration required in the field should be given priority by the university or research organization that is in charge of the training.

The purpose of this research was to determine barriers that prevent participation in an employee wellness program, Wellness Wednesdays: "Eat & Meet" About Healthy Living, conducted at East Carolina University (ECU) in Greenville, North Carolina. All ECU ARAMARK employees (n = 481) over the age of 18 were eligible to participate in the wellness program. Weekly 30 minute classes, taught by a Registered Dietitian, on various nutrition- and health-related topics were conducted for 10-weeks. Five question knowledge quizzes were administered to participants at the end of each class to determine the comprehension of material presented. Qualitative interviews (n = 19) were conducted with employees (participants and non-participants) and the program organizer after the completion of the 10-week program to identify barriers to program participation. A total of 50 (10.4% of the total number of potential participants) ECU ARAMARK employees, managers, and leadership team directors attended Wellness Wednesdays at least once during the 10-week program. Employees, on average, scored 71-100% on the weekly knowledge quizzes administered at the end of each class. The most common barriers to participation reported included (most often to least often reported): insufficient incentives, inconvenient locations, time limitations, not interested in topics presented, undefined reasons, schedule, marketing, health beliefs, and not interested in the program. Results showed that employee wellness programs can be effective in increasing knowledge of employees on nutrition- and health-related topics. However, program planning that addresses identified barriers including insufficient incentives, inconvenient locations, and time limitations may facilitate higher participation in future worksite wellness opportunities.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influential factors of organizational cynicism of nurses in hospitals, and to examine data contributing the effective organizational management and the organizational effectiveness. Data were collected from 320 nurses working in a hospital in 2005. A total of 295 questionnaires were analyzed by the SPSS WIN 21.0. The leadership, job interdependence, job stress, positive and negative affectivity had significant effect on the organizational cynicism of hospital nurses. Also, the organizational cynicism had significant mediating effects on job satisfaction and organization commitment, and organizational climate showed significant indirect effects on the job satisfaction and organizational commitment. In conclusion, hospital managers and nursing directors need to adopt following strategies; open communication, friendly feedback, trust among staff, co-operation between departments and intra-departments, sharing information, creating joyful organizational climate, adequate organizational supports, fair compensation, and favorable organizational culture.

Objective: The study was conducted by the Association of Korean College of Nursing in order to survey and analyze the current state of clinical practicum for adult health nursing at four-year nursing college in Korea and to suggest improvements in the contents and methods of clinical practicum and its future direction. Method: Data were collected using a survey by mail from July to November 2004 using a structured questionnaire on the general state of clinical practicum for adult health nursing. The questionnaires were sent to 53 nursing colleges throughout the country, and 47 recovered questionnaires were analyzed. Results: The number of credits for adult health nursing practicum was 7~10(average range), and various nursing fields were used in clinical practicum. The number of students per team was 5~6 at general wards and 3~4 at intensive care units. Students also experienced practicum during daytime and in the evening. Clinical practicum for adult health nursing was led by full-time professors and field practicum directors. In clinical practicum for adult health nursing, almost every college evaluated students' attitude, skills, leadership, etc. in various forms. Conclusions: It is urgent to develope a standardized evaluation tool for clinical practicum.
