There have been always some difficulties in target setting and conditioning of acoustic performances or the Korean traditional music hall due mainly to the lack of the information on the sound radiation characteristics of Korean musical sources. As the 2nd experiment succeeding the previous study[1], the radiation characteristics of eight typical Korean traditional musical sources were investigated if precision. The selected musical sources were Geomungo, Haegeum (string), Piri, Taepyeongso (woodwind), Buk, Kwaengguari, Jing (drum), and male Pansori Chang (vocal Performance). The results show that the directivity pattern of each instrument is different and has their own directivity characteristics. Measured directional and spectral characteristics of traditional Korean music sources were implemented into the computation of architectural acoustic measures. Significant differences in the acoustic measures at receiver positions were observed between the results in using the omni-directional source and the directional one. In order to investigate the acoustical characteristics of the instruments depending on the spatial variation four different shapes of halls were introduced including rectangular, fan. horse-shoe and geometrical shapes. Room acoustical parameters such as RT, SPL, C80, LF, STI were calculated at each type or hall. As the results, It was found that the rectangular hall has the most high clarity. lateral energy and STI values among low shapes of halls. It is thought that the suggested source data and design method can be used as a basic reference in the future acoustic design of performance halls for the Korean traditional music.

This paper presents the reduction of the positional uncertainty of an ultrasonic sensor ring with overlapped beam pattern for the efficient obstacle detection of a mobile robot. Basically, it is assumed that a relatively small number of inexpensive low directivity ultrasonic sensors are installed at regular spacings along the side of a circular mobile robot with their beams overlapped. First, for both single and double obstacles, we show that the positional uncertainty inherent to an ultrasonic sensor can be reduced using the overlapped beam pattern, and also quantify the relative improvement in positional uncertainty. Second, given measured distance data from one or two ultrasonic sensors, we devise the geometric method to determine the position of an obstacle with respect to the center of a mobile robot. Third, we examine and compare existing ultrasonic sensor models, including Gaussian distribution, parabolic distribution, uniform distribution, and impulse, and then build the sensor model of overlapped ultrasonic sensors, adequate for obstacle detection in terms of positional uncertainty and computational requirement. Finally, through experiments using our prototype ultrasonic sensor ring, the validity of overlapped beam pattern for reduced positional uncertainty and efficient obstacle detection is demonstrated.

Recently, the results of many studies have clarified the successful performance of magnetostrictive transducers in which a ferromagnetic patch is used for the transduction of guided shear waves; this is because a thin ferromagnetic patch with strong magnetostriction is very useful for generating and detecting shear wave. This investigation deals with bulk shear wave transduction by means of magnetostriction; on the other hand, the existing studies have been focused on guided shear waves. A modular transducer was developed; this transducer comprised a coil, magnets, and a thin ferromagnetic patch that was made of Fe-Co alloy. Some experiments were conducted to verify the performance of the developed transducer. Radiation directivity pattern of the developed transducer was obtained, and a test to detect the damage on a side drill hole of a steel block specimen was carried out. From the results of these tests, the good performance of the transducer for nondestructive testing was verified on the basis of the signal-to-noise ratio and narrow beam directivity.

This paper presents the systematic optimal design of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring for high performance obstacle detection using effective beam overlap. Basically, a set of low directivity ultrasonic sensors of the same type are arranged in a circle at regular intervals with their beams overlapped. First, both real and simplified beam patterns of an ultrasonic sensor and several sensor models for obstacle position estimation within its beam pattern are introduced. Second, the obstacle detection range of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring and its simple sensor model for obstacle position estimation are described. Third, for both conic and non-conic shaped beam pattern, the design indices of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring for minimal positional uncertainty in obstacle detection are defined. Fourth, the constraints imposed on the structural parameters of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring to guarantee non empty beam overlap and to avoid excessive beam overlap are derived. Fifth, the optimal number of ultrasonic sensors for a given radius of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring and the optimal radius of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring are determined. Throughout this paper, the MA40B8 from Murata Inc. is taken as a representative commercial low directivity ultrasonic sensor.

Multirotor configurations such as VTOL and urban air mobility have been focused on today due to the high maneuverability. Aerodynamic and aeroacoustic characteristics of multirotor have much difference to those of a single rotor. In this study, a numerical analysis based on the free wake vortex lattice method is used for identifying the wake interaction effect. In order to compare the various configurations and operating conditions, the effects of the spacing between the rotors in hovering flight and the effects of the advancing ratio and the formation in forward flight are discussed. In the hovering flight, the unsteady loading of multirotor changes periodically and loading fluctuation increases as decreasing the spacing. It causes the variation in unsteady loading noise and the noise directivity pattern. In the forward flight, the difference in loading fluctuation and noise characteristics are observed according to the diamond and square formation of rotors. By comparing with results of single rotor analysis, multirotor configurations have different directivity pattern and amplitude of loading noise according to the location of each rotor. As a result, wake interaction effect becomes a highly important factor for aerodynamic and aeroacoustic analysis according to multirotor configurations and operating conditions.
In this paper, we investigate the radio wave radiation pattern to measure the actual field strength for the transmission antenna dipole antenna and the CP-ring antenna being used in our country as FM station, and the comparison was for field application. Compare results, If the transmitting station and the relay station which is located in the middle of a service area has been a useful CP-dipole antenna (four directions). CP-ring antenna having a directivity because the reflection effect of the tower was able to adjust the orientation to prevent the spread of menstrual another service area in the main direction was able to radiate high propagation 5~9dB. Especially, If the transmitting station and the relay station is located on one side of the service area for radiating radio waves in three directions by using the CP-ring antennas focus the orientation of the antenna in populated areas and road area can improve the broadcast reception environment.
The objective of this study is to optimize the shape of doubly curved surface where a conformal array is equipped. That surface is modeled with a double-ellipsoid solid controlled by four parameters. By analyzing the performance of the conformal array beams with the beam pattern synthesis, two design parameters are determined. Then, we define the weighted object function which is formulated as the sum of sharp indexes for directivity index, the elevation resolution, and the bearing resolution. The direct calculation on all grids is used to evaluate the weighted object function and seek the optimal value of two design parameters when the weightings are given. In the simulation, four kinds of weighting cases are respectively applied to evaluate the weighted object function. The optimal shapes of double-ellipsoid solid are shown in each case. Especially, when the uniform weightings are used, the double-ellipsoid solid with more smooth surface is obtained.

Deep-water sonar transducers of FFR (Free Flooded Ring) type have been designed using a coupled FE-BEM. The proposed sonar transducers are composed of piezoelectric ceramic tubes and structural steel materials for simple fabrication. In order to have an omnidirectional beam pattern around 30 kHz, a conic steel is placed below a piezoelectric tube or a steel disc is placed between two piezoelectric tubes. The dynamics of the sonar transducer is modelled in three dimensions and is analyzed with external electrical excitation conditions. Various results are available such as directivity patterns and transmitting voltage responses. The most optimal structure and dimensions of the steel material were calculated, so that the beam patterns of the sonar transducers had +/- 3 dB omnidirectivity at 30 kHz.
In this paper, the realization of a directional digital hearing aid was considered. Conventional time domain time delay method was replaced with digital filters in order to make any general-purposed DSP (Digital Signal Processing) chip to produce the similar directivity pattern. Both the time delay algorithm and the digital filter algorithm were initially evaluated by Matlab (Matrix laboratory) for comparison, and it was confirmed by CSR 8675 Bluetooth DSP IC (Digital Signal Processing Integrated Circuit) chip firmware realization. Some remote control features by a smart phone was added to the smart hearing aid for user interface easiness.

With the development of display engineering and technology, the screen and sound quality of information devices such as TVs are improving. The screen used LEDs via LCD and PDP and a large flat panel in the early CRT to create super-high resolution. The sound is improved by directly vibrating a thin and simple panel, such as an OLED. In our previous study, the exciter speaker was attached to the rear of the OLED panel to be used as the diaphragm of the speaker, and the sound quality was as good as that of the TV using the existing dynamic speaker. This method supplied the viewer with the direct sound coming from the panel, delivering clear sound, and the sound and image came from the same location, thus giving the viewer high immersion and maximizing the effect of information transfer. OLED exciter speakers, however, have a special directivity, which tends to slightly attenuate the tone at the very center of the screen. This study improves the sound quality by improving the structure of the exciter speaker and the radiated sound of the flat panel display. A 2-in-1 Exciter is made into a single core to improve the speaker's radiation pattern.
