In this paper, we propose a think-aloud program for acquiring abstraction concept. Think-aloud is a technique, which is good for teaching higher-order thinking skills to learner. We intend to propose a program for teaching abstraction concept to learners directly, as software education is being reinforced in the current education policy. For the study, we develop a program depending on ADDIE model. According to these steps, we analyzed related works such as computational thinking, think-aloud technique, and direct instructional model. After that, we split and structuralized the learning tasks for achieving a goal. And then, we constructed steps for the instruction and detailed contents of the program. We did a survey for verification to nine experts and we corrected the program according to it.

The purpose of this study is to provide teachers with sub-components of inquiry skills and help them to give direct instructions on the skills to their students. Inquiry skills and strategies are considered by-products of science and inquiry instruction by most of the science teachers. On the other hand, much research shows that many students are not familiar with the way that they can use inquiry skills therefore direct instruction on the inquiry skills is needed. The lack of guidance on the sub-components for the inquiry skills, however, results in science teachers' ignorance of the inquiry skills. As shown in the previous studies which suggest that without teachers' guidance, students cannot acquire the intended skills, and it is necessary to inform science teachers of the necessity for direct instruction on the inquiry skills and strategy as well as give them the sub-components of the inquiry skills. On the basis of the results from the previous research on the inquiry skills, this study presents the sub-components of basic inquiry skills (observation, classification, measure, prediction, and reasoning) and integrated inquiry skills (problem recognition, hypothesis formulation, control of variables, data transformation, data interpretation, drawing conclusion, and generalization).
To date, the study of students with multicultural disabilities has been limited to language problems. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of communication between parents and professionals on the IEP and teaching strategies of students in multicultural special education in the United States. From 2015 to 2016, structural equation modeling was conducted using AMOS 21 based on data from 406 elementary, middle, and high school teachers who has experiencing of multicultural disabilities. The correlation coefficients between IEP and the variables affecting instructional strategies were significantly high between -044 and .489 as a whole. Especially, teaching strategy and communication with parents were relatively more effective than professional communication high correlation. In addition, with regard to the impact on IEP and teaching strategies, parental communication has been found to be closely related to IEP and teaching strategies. However, communication with professionals has a direct effect on teaching strategies. There was no significant correlation between parent and professional communication. The purpose of this study is to understand the importance of communication with parents of multicultural disabled students and their interest and opinions on children positively to IEP and teaching strategies so that teachers can communicate continuously.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among elementary school teachers' high school and college backgrounds in science, their attitudes toward teaching science, their science teaching efficacy beliefs, and their instructional strategies. Both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, were utilized in this study. This paper, however, presents only the results of the quantitative data analysis while expecting to report the qualitative data analysis outcomes afterwards. Four instruments were used to ascertain information concerning teachers' backgrounds in science(the number of high school science courses they took and the grades of courses, the number of college science courses and grades, the number of college science methods courses and grades), attitudes toward teaching science, science teaching self-efficacy beliefs(personal science teaching efficacy and science teaching outcome expectancy), and their instructional strategies(indirect, direct, and mixed methods). A sample of 340 practicing elementary school teachers participated in this study. To determine statistically significant results, Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to relate teachers' backgrounds in science, attitudes toward teaching science, science teaching self-efficacy beliefs and their instructional strategies. The correlation coefficients were statistically significant regarding four variables, teachers' backgrounds in science, attitudes toward teaching science, science teaching self-efficacy beliefs, and instructional strategies investigated in this study. These results can be interpreted that programs of teacher preparations and trainings which include science and science methods courses should help prospective and practicing teachers change in their attitudes and beliefs toward science teaching. It is expected that future studies concerning teachers' attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors toward teaching science can help to improve science teacher education in Korea.
The study aimed to explore how to improve mathematical thinking through metacognitive learning by stressing metacognitive abilities as a core strategy to increase mathematical creativity and problem-solving abilities. Theoretical exploration was followed by an analysis of correlations between metacognitive abilities and various ways of mathematical thinking. Various metacognitive teaching and learning methods used by many teachers at school were integrated for sharing. Also, the methods of learning application and assessment of metacognitive thinking were explored. The results are as follows: First, metacognitive abilities were positively related to 'reasoning, communication, creative problem solving and commitment' with direct and indirect effects on mathematical thinking. Second, various megacognitive ability-applied teaching and learning methods had positive impacts on definitive areas such as 'anxiety over Mathematics, self-efficacy, learning habit, interest, confidence and trust' as well as cognitive areas such as 'learning performance, reasoning, problem solving, metacognitive ability, communication and expression', which is a result applicable to top, middle and low-performance students at primary and secondary education facilities. Third, 'metacognitive activities, metaproblem-solving process, personal strength and weakness management project, metacognitive notes, observation tables and metacognitive checklists' for metacognitive learning were suggested as alternatives to performance assessment covering problem-solving and thinking processes. Various metacognitive learning methods helped to improve creative and systemic problem solving and increase mathematical thinking. They did not only imitate uniform problem-solving methods suggested by a teacher but also induced direct experiences of mathematical thinking as well as adjustment and control of the thinking process. The study will help teachers recognize the importance of metacognition, devise and apply teaching or learning models for their teaching environments, improving students' metacognitive ability as well as mathematical and creative thinking.
Scale model measurements should be conducted under an actual sky or in a simulated sky where conditions can be held constant. A number of successful attempts have been made to develop artificial sky domes with man-made sun emulators. With reference to formerly-developed examples, sky simulator facility has recently been activated in oder to provide desirable sky conditions for teaching and studies. The structure is a 6m-diameter dome and promises to set various condition for energy related and lighting research activities. The sky dome is also equipped a heliodon, the tilt table, to facilitate additive direct sun impact under clear skies. Shading studies, using scale models with the heliodon, reveal how a building's design blocks or permits light's passage to the interior; solar access studies, and tests of the reflection and transmittance characteristics of new daylighting technologies. The design and construction specification and the initial operating experience with a building configuration are reported.
This study investigated the effectiveness of the Developmentally Appropriate Instruction Model for Science(DAIM-S) on increasing scientific curiosity and problem solving in young children. Subjects were 60 5-year-old middle class children, randomly assigned to one of two groups: either the DAIM-S group or the direct instruction group. For 2 months, the children in both groups took part in 21 science activity sessions. Both before and after treatment, subjects were tested on curiosity and scientific problem solving. The DAIM-S group showed higher achievement than the direct instruction group in the acquisition of curiosity and scientific problem solving. From these results, the researchers suggest application of the DIAM-S to the science teaching of young children.

In this paper, we tried to develop a vowel training assistant method using vowel formant statistics. Formant statistics were obtained from PBW set consists of 452 words from 8 persons. Then, we calculated distance from input formants to each center of vowel formant space. Based on the distance, direct ions to correct the speaker's manner of articulation, i .e. position of jaw and tongue.
Canine Juvenile cellulitis was diagnosed in 2 puppies hospitalized in Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Seoul National University. Characterized dermatological problems were presents of scale, crust, purulent exudation and alopecia limited on their face. On cytologic examinations of direct impression smears for the lesions, numerous neutrophils and macrophagies were observed. No bacteria and fungus were noted. Treatments with administration of predinisolone and antibiotics orally combined with topical shampoo treatment had good results for the two puppies.
The aim of the case study presented in this paper was to explore mathematics curriculum knowledge of a South Korean elementary teacher. An in-depth case study is applied to examine mathematics curriculum knowledge that influences teachers' instructional process including analysis of diverse artifacts such as lesson plan, observation and interviews. Findings of this study suggest that mathematics curriculum knowledge has direct relevance to teaching a lesson, designing a lesson and assessing students' work. In addition, this study identified that mathematics curriculum knowledge may be divided into two sub-categories: vertical mathematics curriculum knowledge and horizontal mathematics curriculum knowledge. The results of this case study help our understanding of South Korean elementary teachers' mathematics curriculum knowledge, which has a deep impact on their teaching practice. Moreover, this cross-national research offers implications for researchers, policymakers, and teachers in U.S. as well as those in South Korea.
