In this study, we fabricated the high-brightness AlGaInP-based red light emitting diodes (LED)s using by direct printing technique and inductive coupled plasma (ICP) reactive ion etching (RIE). In general, surface roughening was fabricated by wet etching process to improve the light extraction efficiency of AlGaInP-based red LED. However, a structure of the surface roughening, which was fabricated by wet etching, was tiled cone-shape after wet etching process due to crystal structure of AlGaInP materials, which was used as top-layer of red LED. This tilted cone-shape of surface roughening can improve the light extraction of LED, but it caused a loss of the light extraction efficiency of LED. So, in this study, we fabricated perfectly cone shaped pattern using direct printing and dry etching process to maximize the light extraction efficiency of LED. Both submicron pattern and micron pattern was formed on the surface of red LED to compare the enhancement effect of light extraction efficiency of LEDs according to the diameter of sapphire patterns. After patterning process using direct printing and ICP-RIE proceeded on the red LED, light output was enhanced up to 10 % than that of red LED with wet etched structure. This enhancement of light extraction of red LED was maintained after packaging process. And as a result of analyze of current-voltage characteristic, there is no electrical degradation of LED.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the association between use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) and post-extraction bleeding and to quantify bleeding risk in patients receiving DOACs. Materials and Methods: The study included 293 patients who were taking DOACs and underwent tooth extraction (414 teeth). The patients were divided into those who had the extraction while taking DOACs and those who discontinued DOACs before the extraction. Bleeding complications were recorded and compared between the patient groups and types of DOACs. Results: Of the 293 patients, 12 patients (6.9%) had post-extraction bleeding. Post-extraction bleeding occurred in 12 of the 414 tooth extraction sites. Among the 246 patients who underwent dental extraction while continuing DOAC therapy, 12 patients (8.5%) had post-extraction bleeding. Among the 47 patients who underwent dental extraction after discontinuing the administration of DOACs, none reported post-extraction bleeding. There was no significant difference in the number of patients with post-extraction bleeding between the two groups (P=0.122). Conclusion: Continuing DOAC therapy during dental extraction does not increase post-extraction bleeding tendency. These results are consistent with those of previous studies.

For the determination of vitamin I using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), the most critical and time consuming step is the Quantitative extraction of all vitamin E homologs from sample matrix. Three different extraction methods were compared to determine vitamin E in grains. Saponification used alkaline hydrolysis followed by solvent extraction. Direct solvent extraction included dispersing the samples in hot water, addition of isopropanol and $MgSO_4$, and extraction of the analytes with extracting solvent with Polytron homogenization. Using Soxhlet extraction, the samples were extracted in a Soxhlet apparatus with hexane containing butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). Vitamin E content in 14 grains were analyzed and compared by three different extraction methods. Generally, the highest values were observed from direct solvent extraction and Soxhlet extraction followed by saponification. a-Tocopherol equivalent (a-TE) levels in grains ranged from 0.32 a-TE/100 g in prosomillet to 5.12 a-TE/100 g in black rice.
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a powerful technique in molecular biology and is widely used in various fields. By amplifying DNA fragments, PCR has facilitated gene cloning procedures, as well as molecular genotyping. However, the extraction of DNA from samples often acts as a limiting step of these reactions. In particular, the extraction of PCR-compatible genomic DNA from higher plants requires complicated processes and tedious work because plant cells have rigid cell walls and contain various endogenous PCR inhibitors, including polyphenolic compounds. We recently developed a novel solution, referred to as AnyDirect, which can amplify target DNA fragments directly from whole blood without the need for DNA extraction. Here, we developed a simple lysis system that could produce an appropriate template for direct PCR with AnyDirect PCR buffer, making possible the direct amplification of DNA fragments from plant leaves. Thus, our experimental procedure provides a simple, convenient, non-hazardous, inexpensive, and rapid process for the amplification of DNA from plant tissue.
This study investigates the applicability of the direct identification of flutter derivatives in the time domain using Rational Function Approximation (RFA), where the extraction procedure requires either a combination of at least two wind speeds or one wind speed. In the frequency domain, flutter derivatives are identified at every wind speed. The ease of identifying flutter derivatives in the time domain creates a paradox because flutter derivative patterns sometimes change in higher-order polynomials. The first step involves a numerical study of RFA extractions for different deck shapes from existing bridges to verify the accurate wind speed combination for the extraction. The second step involves validating numerical simulation results through a wind tunnel experiment using the forced vibration method in one degree of freedom. The findings of the RFA extraction are compared to those obtained using the analytical solution. The numerical study and the wind tunnel experiment results are in good agreement. The results show that the evolution pattern of flutter derivatives determines the accuracy of the direct identification of RFA.

In recent years, since more and more diode rectifiers with smoothing dc capacitor are used in electronic equipments, household appliances and ac drives, harmonics generated by these loads have become a major issue. In addition, 3-phase 4-wire system is widely employed in distributing electric energy to several office building and manufacturing plants. This systems show excessive currents in the neutral. These neutral currents are fundamentally third harmonic, and their presence is tied to wiring failure, elevating of neutral potentials, transformer overheating, etc. In response to the concerns, this paper proposes a series active power filter scheme based on direct compensating voltage extraction method and the advantage of this control algorithm is direct extraction of compensation voltage reference without multiplying gain. Therefore, the calculation of the compensation voltage reference will becom much simpler than other control algorithm. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, a prototype active power filter is built and some experiments are carried out.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of different preparation methods on the recovery and quantification of ginsenosides in raw Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer). Eight major ginsenosides ($Rb_1$, $Rb_2$, $Rb_3$, Rc, Rd, Re, Rf, and $Rg_1$) were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), after which the recovery and repeatability of the extraction of those ginsenosides using 3 different preparation methods were compared [A. direct extraction (DE) method, hot MeOH extraction/evaporation/direct dissolution; B. solid phase extraction (SPE) method, hot MeOH extraction/evaporation/dissolution/$C_{18}$ cartridge adsorption/MeOH elution; C. liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) method, hot MeOH extraction/evaporation/dissolution/n-BuOH fractionation]. Use of the DE method resulted in a significantly higher recovery of total ginsenosides than other methods and a relatively clear peak resolution. Use of the SPE and LLE methods resulted in clearer peak resolution, but lower ginsenoside recovery than the DE method. The LLE method showed the lowest ginsenoside recovery and repeatability among the 3 methods. Given that the DE method employed only extraction, evaporation, and a dissolution step (avoiding complicate and time consuming purification), this technique may be an effective method for the preparation and quantification of ginsenosides from raw Korean ginseng.
This paper presents the analysis of series active power filter for reactive power compensation, load balancing, harmonic elimination, and neutral current eradication in three-phase four-wire power systems. Generally, the three-phase four-wire system is widely employed in distributing electric energy to several office building and manufacturing plants. In such systems, the third harmonic and its 3rd harmonics are termed as triple and zero sequence components that do not cancel each other in the system neutral. Consequently, the triple harmonics add together creating a primary source of excessive neutral current. Regarding this concern, this paper presents a new control algorithm for a series hybrid active system, whereas the control approach it adopts directly influence its compensation characteristics. Hence, the advantage of this control algorithm is the direct extraction of compensation voltage reference without phase transformations and multiplying harmonic current value by gain and the required rating of the series active filter is much smaller than that of a conventional shunt active power filter. In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm, experiments have been carried out.

Effective gate resistance, extracted by direct extraction method, is analyzed among various gate length, in nanoscale MOSFET for RFIC. Extracted effective gate resistance is compared to measured data and verified with simplified model. Extracted parameters are accurate to 10GHz. In the same process technology effect has a different kind of gate voltage dependency and frequency dependency compared with general effective gate resistance. Particularly, the characteristic of effective gate resistance before and after threshold voltage is noticeable. When gate voltage is about threshold voltage, effective gate resistance is abnormally high. This characteristic will be an important reference for RF MOSFET modeling using direct extraction method.
