  • This paper presents a digital speed sensorless control system for Reluctance Synchronous Motor (RSM) drives with direct torque control (DTC). The system consist of stator flux observer, rotor speed estimator, torque estimator two hysteresis band controllers, an optimal switching look-up table. IGBT voltage source inverter, and TMS320C31DSP controller by using fully integrated control software. The stator flux observer is based on the combined voltage and current model with stator flux feedback adaptive control that inputs are current and voltage sensing of motor terminal with estimated rotor angle for wide speed range. The rotor speed is estimated by the observed stator flux-linkage space vector. The estimated rotor speed can be determinated by differentiation of the rotor position used only in the current model part of the flux observer for a low speed operating area. In order to prove the suggested speed sensorless control algorithm. There are some simulation and testing at actual experimental system. The developed digitally high- performance speed sensorless control system are shown a good speed control response characteristic results and high Performance features using 1.0Kw RSM.

  • A modular multilevel converter is widely adapted for a high-voltage direct current power transmission system. This study proposes a design methodology for a novel digital control that mitigates the negative effects caused by time delay, including communication transport delay for a modular multilevel converter. The modeling and negative effect of time delay are analyzed theoretically in a frequency domain, and its compensation methodology based on an inverse model is described fully with practical considerations. The proposed methodology is verified through several simulation results using a modular 21-level converter system.

  • This paper presents an operation of the modular multilevel converter-high voltage direct current (MMC-HVDC) system as a Statcom to support the grid voltage. The advantage of the MMC-HVDC system is that it can control the active and reactive powers independently. The proposed control scheme will be designed by combining this performance and the control method of the Statcom. The grid voltage is regulated by the control of the reactive power, meanwhile the active power is controlled according to its applications. The simulation results based on the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation program will evaluate the effectiveness of the control scheme.

  • DMFC(Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) is one of promising candidates for power sources of small mobile IT devices like notebook, cell phone, and so on. Efficient operation of fuel cell system is very important for long-sustained power supply because of limited fuel tank size. It is necessary to investigate operation characteristics of fuel cell stack for optimal control of DMFC system. The generated voltage was modeled according to various operating condition; methanol concentration, stack temperature, and load current. It is inevitable for methanol solution at anode to cross over to cathode through MEA(membrane electrode assembly), which reduces the system efficiency and increases fuel consumption. In this study, optimal operation conditions are proposed by analyzing stack performance model, cross-over phenomenon, and system efficiency.

  • In brake systems, a proportioning valve(P. V), which reduces the brake line pressure on each wheel cylinder for the anti-locking of rear wheels, is closely related to the safety of vehicles. However, it is impossible for current P. V. s to completely control brake line pressure because, mechanically, it is an open loop control system. In this paper we describe an electronic brake force distribution system using a direct adaptive fuzzy controller in order to completely control brake line pressure using a closed loop control system. The objective of the electronic brake force distribution system is to change the cut-in-pressure and the valve slop of the P. V in order to obtain better performance of the brake system than with mechanical systems.

  • This paper presents a control method of the modular multilevel converter - high-voltage direct current (MMC-HVDC) system to regulate grid voltage on the basis of the Jeju Island power system. In this case, the MMC-HVDC system is controlled as a static synchronous compensator (Statcom) to exchange the reactive power with the power grid. The operation of the MMC-HVDC system is verified by using the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation program. The Jeju Island power system is first established on the basis of the parameters and measured data from the real Jeju Island power system. This power system consists of two line-commutated converter - high-voltage direct current (LCC-HVDC) systems, two Statcom systems, wind farms, thermal power plants, transformers, and transmission and distribution lines. The proposed control method is then applied by replacing one LCC-HVDC system with a MMC-HVDC system. Simulation results with and without using the MMC-HVDC system are compared to evaluate the effectiveness of the control method.

  • This paper presents an implementation of high-dynamic performance of position sensorless motion control system of Reluctance Synchronous Motor(RSM) drives for an industrial servo system with direct torque control(DTC), The problems of DTC for high-dynamic performance and maximum efficiency RSM drive due to a saturated stator linkage flux and nonlinear inductance curve with various load currents, The accurate estimation of the stator flux and torque are obtained using stator flux observer of which a saturated inductance Ld and Lq can be compensated by adapting from measurable the modulus and angle of the stator current space vector. To obtain fast torque response and maximum torque/current with varying load current, the reference command flux is ensured by imposing Ids=Iqs. This control strategy is proposed to fast response and optimal efficiency for RSM drive. In order to prove rightness of the suggested control algorithm, the actual experiment carried out at ${\pm}$20 and ${\pm}$1500 rpm. The developed digitally high-performance control system are shown some good response characteristic of control results and high performance features using 1.0kW RSM of which has 2.57 Ld/Lq salient ratio.

  • Spin orbit torque would be applied as the next generation of MRAM, so many researchers are interested in related field. To make a more efficient device, electric current should convert into spin current with high efficiency. Moreover, it becomes important to measure efficiency of spin orbit torque accurately. We measured spin torque FMR of W/CoFeB hetero structure system with direct current. The efficiencies of the damping like torque and field like torque were measured by using the linewidth and on-resonance field proportional to direct current. In addition, we analyzed that a quadratic shift of the on-response field was caused by the Joule heating.

  • The objective of this study was to design an optimal electro-remediation system for TCE contaminated water using zero talent iron (ZVI) and direct current (DC). A series of column experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of electrode arrangement and the location of permeable iron barrier in the column on the TCE removal efficiency and iron corrosion process. In twelve different combinations of ZVI and/or DC application in the test columns, the rate of reductive degradation of TCE was improved with simultaneous application of both ZVI and DC compared to that used ZVI only. The moot effective arrangement of electrode and ZVI for TCE removal from water was a column set with ZVI and cathode installed at the down gradient, respectively.
