  • In this paper, a transimpedance amplifier based on a new DC offset cancellation (DCOC) method is proposed for WCDMA/LTE applications. The proposed method applies a sample and hold mechanism to the conventional DCOC method with a DC feedback loop. It prevents the removal of information around the DC, so it avoids signal-to-noise ratio degradation. It also reduces area and power consumption. It was designed in a $0.13{\mu}m$ deep n-well CMOS technology and drew a maximum current of 1.58 mA from a 1.2 V supply voltage. It showed a transimpedance gain of $80dB{\Omega}$, an input-referred noise current lower than 0.9 pA/${\surd}$Hz, an out-of-band input-referred 3rd-order intercept point more than 9.5 dBm, and an output DC offset lower than 10 mV. Its area is $0.46mm{\times}0.48mm$.

  • In this paper, the fractal shape is applied to microstrip band pass filters and integrated on a high-resistivity Si substrate to solve conventional $2^{nd}$ harmonic problem. Conventional microstrip coupled line filters are popular in RF front ends, because they can be easily fabricated and integrated with other RF components. However, they typically have large second harmonics that can cause unwanted interference in interested frequency bands. Without any additional filters, the proposed Koch shape filters have suppressed the $2^{nd}$ harmonics by about -40 dB, so they can be used in systems such as direct conversion receiver with stringent harmonic suppression requirements.

  • In this paper, we present a performance analysis and design and implementation results of a 2.4 GHz bio-radar system that can detect human heartbeat and respiration signals. In order to design a 2.4 GHz bio-radar system qualitatively, we investigate the electromagnetic properties of human tissues and calculate the target SNR of demodulation output with respect to distance. The target SNR is defined by the 90 % success ratio for detecting heartbeat signal. With this target SNR value, the performance and link budget of the bio-radar system is simulated using MATLAB. Using this link budget results, the direct conversion receiver is designed and Implemented in 4 layer printed circuit board(PCB). With output power of 0 dBm and 5 Hz bandwidth, 80 % success ratio of 50 cm is measured. Measurement results show a good agreement with simulation results.

  • This paper proposes an novel method of minimizing Interference which causes data decision error in digital wireless communications. In this method, in order to suppress ISI which is caused by the phase difference between the transmitted and received signal phases, the transmitted and received signals are always kept orthogonal by compensating the transmitted signal for detecting the phase noise and the delay of the received signal was implemented by MOS circuits. To delay the phase of the signal, additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) environment was used. The phase and delay of the signal transmitted through AWGN channel were compensated in the modulator of the transmitter and the compensated signal was demodulated using quasi-direct conversion receiver and QPSK demodulator. ISI suppression was achieved by keeping the orthogonality between the compensated transmitted signal and the receive signal. The error probability of data decision was compared. By simulation the proposed system was proved to be effective in minimizing the ISI.

  • In this paper, we propose and design IBFD system based on DCR. And then, we analyze effect of DC offset by self-interference in the proposed system. Also, we evaluate BER performance of the proposed system according to DC offset. As a result of the simulation, we can confirm that when the self-interference is not completely cancelled by the RF cancellation, linearity of desired signal and self-interference is distorted by DC offset. Also, in the proposed system using m-QAM modulation, DC offsets of multi-level are caused by self-interference with m-QAM modulation. As a result, constellations of desired signal and self-interference are greatly distorted. In contrast, in the proposed system using m-PSK modulation, DC offset of single level is caused by self-interference with m-PSK modulation. In this condition, we confirm that distortion of constellations of desired signal and self-interference is less than when using m-QAM modulation. That is, we can confirm that m-PSK modulation is effective than m-QAM modulation in DCR based IBFD system. Also, we can confirm that it is important to cancel self-interference as much as possible in RF-stage.

  • This paper has proposed a multi-channel and wide gain-range baseband circuit blocks for the IEEE 802.15.4g MR-OFDM SUN systems. The proposed baseband circuit blocks consist of two negative-feedback VGAs, an active-RC 5th-order chebyshev low-pass-filter, and a DC-offset cancellation circuit. The proposed baseband circuit blocks provide 1 dB cut-off frequencies of 100 kHz, 200 kHz, 400 kHz, and 600 kHz respectively, and achieve a wide gain-range of +7 dB~+84 dB with 1 dB step. In addition, a DC-offset cancellation circuit has been adopted to mitigate DC-offset problems in direct-conversion receiver. Simulation results show a maximum input differential voltage of $1.5V_{pp}$ and noise figure of 42 dB and 37.6 dB at 5 kHz and 500 kHz, respectively. The proposed I-and Q-path baseband circuits have been implemented in $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology and consume 17 mW from a 1.8 V supply voltage.

  • In this paper, a wireless video streaming system is designed and implemented for TV white space applications. It consists of a RF transceiver module, a digital modem, a camera, and a LCD screen. A VGA resolution video is captured by a camera, modulated by modem, and transmitted by RF transceiver module, and finally displayed at a destination 2.6-inch LCD screen. The RF transceiver is based on direct-conversion architecture. Image leakage is improved by low pass filtering LO, which successfully covers the TVWS. Also, DC offset problem is solved by current steering techniques which control common mode level at DAC output node. The output power of the transmitter and the minimum sensitivity of the receiver is +10 dBm and -82 dBm, respectively. The channel bandwidth is tunable among 6, 7 and 8 MHz according to regulations and standards. Digital modem is realized in Kintex-7 FPGA. Data rate is 9 Mbps based on QPSK and 512ch OFDM. A VGA video is successfully streamed through the air by using the developed TV white-space RF communication module.
